53 Inequalities in One Triangle
Learning Targets:I can recognize and apply properties of inequalities to the measures
of the angles of a triangleI can recognize and apply properties of inequalities to the
relationships between the angles and sides of a triangle
Which is the largest angle of the triangles in the picture?
Which is the longest side of the triangle?
What is the relationship between the largest angle and the longest side?

The definition and properties can be applied to the measures of angles
By the Exterior Angle Theorem, m<1 = m<2 + m<3
Therefore, m<1 > m<2 and m<1 > m<3

Example 1:
Use the Exterior Angle Inequality to list all of the angles that satisfy the stated condition.
1. measures less than m<14
2. measures greater than m<5

Recall if two sides of a triangle are congruent, then the angles opposite them are congruent.
When the triangle is scalene (all sides are different) notice the angle relationships.
The longest side is opposite the largest angle and the shortest side is opposite the smallest angle
