Assumption College "ARE LIMITS ON RELIGIOUS EXPRESSION BECOMING A TREND IN CANADA”

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2020 AT 7:00 pm SIGNATURE TRIBUTES EVENT CENTRE 3310 Dougall Ave. , Windsor, ON

The rise of secularism in Quebec with Bill 21 has prompted questions as to the future of religious expression in Ca-nadian society, particularly with regard to wearing religious symbols and attire. This panel will consist of local com-munity members from four different religious backgrounds. Each panelist will be asked to share their thoughts on the current state of religious expression in Canada and speculate as to whether religious symbols will become less visi-ble as time progresses.

Everyone welcome. No admission charge. (519) 973-7033, press ‘0’. Discussion and Refreshments to follow.

JOKE OF THE WEEK Pastor joke: My neighbouring pastor put sanitary hot air hand dryers in the rest rooms at his church and after two weeks took them out. I asked him why and he confessed that they worked fine but when he went in there, he saw a sign that read, "For a sample of this week's sermon, push the button."

The future son-in-law: The rich businessman Raymond goes to meet his new son-in-law to be, Ben. He says to Ben, "So, tell me Ben, my boy, what do you do?" "I study the Theology," he replies. "But Ben, you are going to marry my daughter! How are going to feed and house her?" "No problem," says Ben, "I study Theology, and it says God will provide." "But you will have children! How will you educate them?" asks Raymond. "No problem," says Ben, "I study Theology, and it says God will provide." When Raymond returns home, his wife anxiously asks him what Ben is like. "Well," says Raymond, "he's a lovely boy. I only just met him, and he already thinks I'm God."

Bibles & Rosaries Needed

Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare is now in need of Bibles. Last month there were over 30 people admitted to the floors and many often come

unprepared for what could be a lengthy stay in the hos-pital. You have been so kind by generously donating rosaries and while we continue to need rosaries the need for Bibles has grown. The Bibles do not have to be new, they can be used. Rosaries are still being col-lected. If you can leave them at the back of the church they will be picked up and brought to the hospital.
