• Variousfoodtypescanbepreparedonthisappliance.TheSafariChef2isdesignedtoutilisevariouscookingsurfaces.• Gasissuppliedtotheunitviaahoseandregulator(LowPressuremodel)orconnectsdirectlytoadisposablecartridge(HighPressure
model).Thehoseandregulatorcanbeconnectedtogascylinder,agascartridge,oraCADACPowerPak1000whichisaunitthattakestwogascartridges.(Notsuppliedwiththeappliance).

• Thecorrectwayistosmearthejointse.g.wherethestemfitsintothecylinder,withsoapywater.
• Ifbubblesform,thenthereisagasleak.Immediatelyturnoffthegassupplybyclosingthecontrolvalveonthegascontainerandthentheappliancevalve.Checkthatalltheconnectionsareproperlyfitted.Re-checkwithsoapywater.

3. Assembly Instructions
• WARNING:Thelegsarespringloaded.OpeningandclosingofthelegsmustbedoneinacontrolledmannertoavoidpersonalinjuryordamagetoyourSafariChef2.
• Toopenthelegs,turntheunitupside-downandholdthelegsdownwhileliftingeachlegindividually.Youwillheara“click“iftheleg(s)haslocatedcorrectly.
• Tofoldthelegsback,securelyholdthelegandpushtheLegReleaseClipdown.Thenpushthelegsin-wardtoitsclosedposition(Fig6).Thisneedstobedonesequentiallytooptimisespace.FirsttheRightfrontleg(1),ThentheLeftfrontleg(2),andlastlytherearLeg(3)(Fig4b).
• Beforeconnectingthegassupply,firstlycheckthattheappliancevalveisintheoffpositionbyturningthecontrolknobfullyclockwise(SeeFig.2).
• I 3B/P (30), I 3+ (28-30/37) and I 3B/P (37) Appliance categories:FittheValveTailpieceontotheValve(Fig.5)byscrewingitoninananti-clockwisedirection.Pushan8mminsidediameterHoseontotheValveTailpieceuntilitisproperlyseated.Ontheotherendattachasuitable30mbarlow-pressure(I3B/P(30)andI3+(28-30/37)Butaneconfigurations)or37mBarlow-pressureregulator(I3+(28-30/37)Propaneconfiguration),againmakingsurethatthehoseiswellseated.ThehoseusedmustcomplywithBS3212/SABS1156-2orequivalent.

5. Fitting and Changing the Hose and Gas Cylinder
• Beforefittingtheregulatortoagascontainer,ensurethatthesealontheregulatorisinpositionandingoodcondition.Thisshouldbedoneoneveryconnection.
• Ensurethatthegascontainerisfittedorchangedoutdoors,awayfromanysourceofignition,suchasnakedflamesorelectricfiresandawayfromotherpeople.
• Makingsurethatthegascontaineriskeptupright,screwtheregulatorontothegascontaineruntilitisfullyengaged.Donotovertighten.• Ifthereisaleakonyourappliance(smellofgas),takeimmediatelyintoaflame-freelocationwheretheleakmaybedetectedand
stopped.Ifyouwishtocheckforleaksonyourappliance,doitoutsideusingsoapywateronly,whichisappliedtothejoints.Aformationofbubbleswillindicateagasleak.
• Checkthatalltheconnectionsaresecurelyfittedandre-checkwithsoapywater.Ifyoucannotrectifythegasleak,donotusetheappliance.ContactyourlocalCADACstockistforassistance.
• WhenchangingagascontainerclosethecylindervalveandthentheapplianceValve(seeFigs.1and2).Makingsuretheflameisextinguished,unscrewtheregulator.Re-fitafullgascontainerfollowingthesameprecautionsasdescribedabove.
6. Using the Appliance
• Thisappliancemustbeusedoutdoorsonly!• Wheninuse,protectfromwindforoptimumperformance.• Donotmovetheunitwhilsthot.Theuseofprotectiveglovesis
recommended.• CAUTION:Accessiblepartsmaybecomeveryhot.Keepyoung
childrenawayfromtheappliance.• Topackaway,lettheunitcool.Aftercleaning,
Foldtheapplianceasdescribedissection3above.Placethepot/domeatthebottomofthebag.Next,placethepotstandupsidedownintothepot.PlacetheFatPanoverthePotandPotStandupsidedown.Thenplacetheapplianceupsidedownoverthefatpan.PlacetheGridandFlatPanintotheirseparateholderslocatedinthelidofthebag,andzipthemclosed.Foldoverthelidofthebag,andzipitclosed.(Fig8)
• KeeptheapplianceinitsCarryBagwhennotinuse,asthiswillpreventtheingressofdirtorinsectswhichmayaffectthegasflow.
• Whenattemptingtolighttheappliance,makesurethatthegassupplyfromthecylinderisopenpriortoturningonthegassupplytotheappliance.
• Usingthecontrolknob Thecontrolknobisfittedwithtwopositivestoppositions,oneat
low,andoneatIgnite/High.Thislimitstheadjustmentoftheflametobetweenthesetwopoints.
LightingupusingthePiezoIgniter• Tolightuptheapplianceusingthepiezoigniter,pushinandturnthecontrolknobinananti-clockwisedirectionuntilyouheara
click.Ifthegasdoesnotigniteonthefirstspark,pushin,andturnthecontrolknobfullyclockwise.Tryagain,bypushinginandturningthecontrolknobanti-clockwiseuntilyouhearaclick.
7. Cooking Options
• Therearefiveavailablecookingoptions(the5thisanoptionalaccessory)withyourSafariChef2appliance.Theseare: Barbecuing:Thiscookingoptionisidealforfat-freebarbecuingofchicken,sausages,chops,kebabs,fishorvegetables.
Forthistypeofcooking,placetheFatPanontotheheatshield.PlacetheBBQGridontothelocatorsoftheFatPan.

Ifthegashasnotignitedinthefirsttwotothreesecondsyoushouldclosethecontrolvalvebypushinginthecontrolknob,andturningitfullyclockwise.Waitapproximatelythirtysecondstoletanyaccumulatedgaswithintheburnerpanassemblyescape.Repeattheaboveprocessifnecessaryuntiltheflameignites.Theflameshouldnormallylightupwithinthefirstoneortwoseconds.
LightingupusingaBBQlighter• Whenstartingcold,theappliancemaybelitfromthetoppriortofittingthedesiredcookingsurfaceontothefatpan.Whenlightingup
ahotappliancehowever,itisrecommendedthatthisbedonebystickingbarbecuelighterthroughoneoftheVentHolesunderneaththeBurner,untilitisinlinewiththeburner(DONOTplacetheBBQlighterthroughthelargeholedirectlyunderneaththeburner).IgnitetheBBQlighter.WhilsttheBBQlighterislit,pushinandturnthecontrolknobanti-clockwisetolighttheburner.
• Usethecontrolknobtoadjusttheflameintensitytothedesiredlevelbyturningtheknobclockwisetodecreasetheflameandanti-clockwisetoincreasetheflame.
• Whennotinusedisconnecttheappliancefromthegassupply.• WARNING:Donotuseanycookingsurfacesonahighflamesettingformorethan10minutesasthiscandamagethenon-stick
coatings.

Boiling:Forthistypeofcooking,placethePotstandinitslocatorgroovesontheheatshieldensuringthatitisproperlyseated.Placeasuitablepot(notlessthan150mmdiameterandnotmorethan230mmdiameter)ortheSafariChef2DomeonthePotStand.TheFatPanhasbeendesignedinsuchawaythatitcanalsobeusedasawindshield.Oneliterofwaterwillboilinapproximately6minutesdependingontheconditions,sizeofpotused,etc.Note:Whenusingsmallsizedpotsdonotattempttousepotswithplastichandles.Potstandcanalsobeusedinthefatpan.

• Theonusofmaintainingthisappliancesolelyrestsontheconsumerfromdateofpurchase.• Thisappliancedoesnotrequirescheduledmaintenance.• Afterprolongedstorage,inspecttheAirHolesundertheunitandtheinletoftheventuriforinsectssuchasspiders,etcwhiichcould
affectgasflow.AlsoinspecttheinletoftheVenturiforinsects.Afterchecking,refitallcomponentsintotheprescribedposition. ReplacingaBlockedJet:• YourSafariChef2isfittedwithaspecificsizejettoregulatethecorrectamountofgas.• ShouldtheholeintheJetbecomeblocked,thismayresultinasmallflameornoflameatall.DonotattempttocleantheJetwitha
pinorothersuchdeviceasthismaydamagetheorifice,whichcouldmaketheapplianceunsafe.

• To replace the Jet:RemovetheFatpan(Fig.9).Gentlyunscrewtheburnerassembly(Fig.10).RemovethethreescrewsfromtheheatshieldplateandremovetheHeatShield(Fig.11),takingcarenottodamagethepiezoelectrode.TheJetcannowberemovedusingasuitablespanner(Fig.12).Donotusepliersonthejetasthismaydamagethejet,makingitunusableorimpossibletoremove.Screwthenewjetintothevalve.Donotover-tightenasthismaydamagethejet.
• Reversetheaboveproceduretore-assembletheunit. ReplacingtheHose:• ThefittingofahoseisdescribedinSection5-Fittingandreplacingthehoseandgascylinder.
