PRAYER REQUEST FOR OUR BELOVED SICK
United with our Holy Father Pope Francis, let us pray in solidarity for our brothers
and sisters here and around the world who are sick. Let us pray for those who have lost loved ones to this virus. May God console them and grant them peace.
We pray also for doctors, nurses, and caregivers, for public health officials and all civic leaders. May God grant them courage and prudence as they seek to respond to this emergency with compassion and in service to the common good. In this time
of need, I invite all the faithful to seek together the maternal intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and I share this prayer with you:
Holy Virgin of Guadalupe, Queen of the Angels and Mother of the Americas. We fly to you today as your beloved children. We ask you to intercede for us with your Son, as you did at the wedding in Cana. Pray for us, loving Mother, and gain for our nation and world, and for all our families and loved ones, the protection of your holy angels, that we may be spared the worst of this illness. For those already afflicted, we ask you to obtain the grace of healing and deliverance. Hear the cries of those who are vulnerable and fearful, wipe away their tears and help them to trust. In this time of trial and testing, teach all of us in the Church to love one another and to be patient and kind. Help us to bring the peace of Jesus to our land and to our hearts. We come to you with confidence, knowing that you truly are our compassionate mother, health of the sick and cause of our joy. Shelter us under the mantle of your protection, keep us in the embrace of your arms, help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus. Amen

The practice of requesting a Mass to be offered for loved ones, living or deceased, is a beautiful and wonderful part of our Catholic tradition. Masses are offered for many reasons: for the souls in
purgatory, in remembrance of someone who is deceased, or in honor of a birthday.
If you would like to have a Mass said for someone, please call our parish office at (818) 342-4686 to request a Mass intention or email [email protected] During this time that we
experience “Stay at Home” orders due to Covid-19, Fr. Marinello continues to celebrate daily Mass in private and offers Mass for those intentions that have been requested. Below is our list of intentions from May 2020.
Heartfelt Birthday wishes to Fr. Jonathon, whoʹs birthday we celebrated on May 26th! Happy Birthday from your family at OLG!

Dear Faith Family of Our Lady of Grace,
Today we rejoice on the Solemnity of Pentecost - the birthday of the Church- a new beginning for the follow-ers of Jesus as they are empowered by the Spirit to bring Good News to every corner of the world. The feast of Pentecost was a Jewish feast of new grain, new wine, the first fruits of the harvest. It was held fifty days after Passover, thus the name “Pentecost,” which means fifty. The giving of or the handing on of the Spirit was the newness that the early disciples were given to embolden them to preach and act in the name of Je-sus. The Spirit has been with the church, the community of disciples ever since. In fact, the same spirit is alive in each of our congregations and parishes. The handing on of the Spirit continues to happen regularly in the lives of us believers. When we were baptized, we were given the gift of the Holy Spirit, and then we were sealed by that same spirit in confirmation. Once we experience the dying and rising of Jesus, we live in a newness of life accompanied and animated by the Holy Spirit.
Our community is alive with the Spirit because we are gearing up for the opening of our churches soon. Once procedures have been set in place and approval has been given by our regional auxiliary bishop, we will open our doors. I thank you for your patience in these matters there is no doubt in my mind that these months have been a source of spiritual hunger for the True Presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. It has been a period of purification, testing, prioritizing, and sacrifice. This time has been one of also realizing how much the pres-ence of God is all around not solely in the rituals but deep within every believer. God cannot be outdone in his generosity. I assure you we will once again come together as a community to celebrate the sacred mysteries that make us who we are.
This Sunday we are celebrating Pentecost in the parking lot by having a food drive and the opportunity to adore Jesus truly and substantially present in the Blessed Sacrament. This is why you will see the Holy Eu-charist exposed in the monstrance. The monstrance is meant to highlight and draw attention to the king of kings, Jesus Christ, present in a real and substantial way under the appearances of bread. Therefore a mon-strance is typically gold and ornamented in a special way, in recognition of the divine mystery it holds and re-veals. As you pass by and pray for a few moments before the Blessed Sacrament. I want to share with you a prayer I learned from an elderly priest I lived with when I was a seminarian. He prayed after he received holy communion, “Sweet Jesus be my love!” I never forgot that prayer and to this day when I receive holy com-munion, I repeat those words quietly. Let us allow Jesus to continue loving us and may his spirit be with us as we move forward towards a future full of hope.
“If we want to be men and women of hope, we must be poor, poor, not attached to anything. Poor. And open. Hope is humble, and it is a virtue that we work at - so to speak - every day: every day we have to take it back, every day we have to take the rope and see that the anchor is fixed there and I hold it in my hand; every day we have to remember that we have the security, that it is the Spirit who works in us with small things.” (Pope Francis- homily at Casa Santa Marta on October 2019)
