Writing LO: To write a narrative using a range of techniques to create tension.

Activity 1Re-read Vindictus Sharpe’s challenge closely. Think about how it has been written and the techniques that the writer uses to move the events forward. Make notes on any words/sentences that are used for effect that might help you with your own writing.

Activity 2Your task is to plan and write your own challenge for Vindictus Sharpe to undertake.

Think about the types of challenge that could be set for Vindictus Sharpe in the room. Will it be some sort of obstacle room? Will the challenge be similar to Daniel’s?

WritingLO: To write a detailed book review explaining why I would recommend a bookOnce you have finished reading Chapter 37 think about the following:

What do you think the themes are in the novel?

Do you know any other books with a similar plot and characters?

Which do you prefer?

Did you enjoy reading the book or not? Why?

ActivityThis is your opportunity to write a detailed book review giving your opinions about the book.

Look at the attachment below called “Book Review” to look at ideas for ways to present your review.

Science History/Geography Art / Music / DTL.O: To understand and identify forces acting upon objects

Open the PowerPoint called “Science- Forces”

Read the information and refresh your memory on the different types of forces that can act upon an object.

Activity 1 Download the worksheet called “Talk about Forces activity sheet”

Read the story and highlight examples of forces. In the second column, explain the forces that are being applied in each example. The first one has been done for you as an example.

Remember, you do not need to print the sheet, you can just number the sentences and write your explanations in your book numbered instead.

Activity 2Download the worksheet called “Forces in action” Identify the forces acting up on the object. Can you draw your own pictures in your books showing forces acting upon objects and identify the forces?

LO: To build knowledge of the wider worldCan you use a map to plan a route between New York and Paris- Two of the places where the Nowhere Emporium stopped in the book?

Note: This doesn’t have to be the quickest route. Think about some interesting places you could stop at on the way.

https://earth.google.com/web

RulesYou need to stop at three other countries on your way to Paris (at least).

In each country, you need to write a fact file about where the Emporium visits. What famous attractions might you see? What interesting facts are there about this place? How would you know you were in this country? (currency, flag, famous landmarks etc.)

You can present this information however you please, for example in your books or on a computer.

ChallengeCan you include compass point directions in your description?

Can you include distances travelled between each point?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=243&v=ARCfup8WVkY&feature=emb_logo

Download the lyrics from the document called “What makes a family lyrics” and sing along to the song!

Music questionsDo you like the song?

What do you like about the song?/ What do you dislike about the song?

How would you describe the tempo of the song?

How would you describe the pitch of the song?

Art Download and look at the document called “Word cloud examples”

Using the song as inspiration, gather some words that describe family and write them down in your book.Use these words to create your own word cloud in any shape that you choose. Eg you could do a person, or a house or a heart.TIP: Draw your shape out first and then fill it with the words that you came up with before.

Activity 2

Either before or after, you can try and create your word cloud online using the following website.

https://wordart.com/create

Pick any two and see how well you can do

Can you do more than two? Can you try one on Monday, practice every day and see if you improve by Friday?

Active MayWe are starting our "Active May" for Lunt's Heath Primary School! We have attached a calendar linked below called "Active May". Each day will have a new exciting activity to try. There are three levels for each activity. Could you challenge yourself to Silver or possibly even Gold?

attention to something. It means slowing down to really notice what you're doing. Being mindful is the opposite of rushing or multitasking. When you're mindful, you're taking your time. This week we would like you to take the time to practice some mindfulness to help you to slow down and rest and relax.

ActivityDownload the “Mindfulness Cards” document and complete some of the activities. You can complete them alone or ask someone to join in with you.

(See download link called Computing- Scratch Film Remake)

In this activity you will recreate a scene from your favourite film. The aim of this activity is to teach you how to use code to tell a story. You are already familiar with Scratch as we have used it in school and this activity will develop your coding skills further.

Activity 2How many digital skills can you complete? Download the Home Learning Computing Goals document in the downloads section and see how many of the skills you already have. How could you get more?

Activity 3See the Computing Words Week 6 document and work your way through the definitions in your books. Remember, there are 5 in total, so you only need to do 1 definition a day.
