If this is you and you are looking for a way to maintain your healthand your sanity, thank you for taking a few minutes to visit mywebpage. My name is JoAnne Mbonigaba and I’m a mother of 3boys under 10 and having weathered those stages (repeatedly!!) ofworking while pregnant, giving birth and enjoying maternity leave(for the most part � and then returning to work after maternity, Ican understand the emotional rollercoaster and how draining itcan be on your physically and mentally so I have decided to puttogether this article to help you make it through these stages withyour sanity, self and health intact.

Here are five tips to manage stress during pregnancy, post-partumand then on your return to work.

First: Rest and enjoy the moments withyourself, baby and or children.Sometimes we get so caught up in the business of life. Sometimeswe forget to stop and just savour the tiny moments to treasurewith our kids when they get playful when and for example holdonto the broom when we have to get the house cleaned and themto bed. I admit, I’ve been guilty of that. Many times. Gettingcaught up in my long list of things to do, getting caught up in theworries of the future. Yet, the present is a beautiful gift and soevery now and then just stop and savour even just for a fewminutes, that mischievous glint in your child’s eye after you catchhim drawing on the wall.

Stop and admire the smile, when your son tries to dance with thebroom you are trying to sweep with. The more you stay in thepresent and give yourself the rest, the pause to enjoy themoments, the more joy, and peace you have and the less stressyou allow into your life.

Also stop, take an occasional power nap, once in a while. Stopand enjoy the movements of the baby in your belly, the miracle ofyour body growing with new life and then returning (sometimesslowly, sometimes quickly ) back to size after the birth, enjoy thatchild discovering his food and making the 100th mess for you toclean, maybe join in with the fun. It’s a blessing to have children,stop and savour your blessings.

You know, there is that saying that joy shared is double the joy andsorrow shared is half the burden. Well, that saying is true! So whenyou have troubles bombarding you, you find your list just keeps ongetting longer or you are dealing with grief or loss, find someoneto share this with. Find someone to help you carry that burden.Find someone who may have already walked that path and helpyou walk that path safely, let you know that you are normal andhelp you with see the light at the end of the tunnel. Keeping thestress buried and to yourself, let’s it fester, talk about it withsomeone, release it, diminish it, share your burdens.

3. Eat wellFood is so critical to our wellbeing. Everything you ingestbecomes a part of your body. Everything you put into your mouthliterally becomes a part of you! So given this, what do you want tobe made of? Life giving and alive food or over cooked nutrientlacking fast food that has become so prominent in our society? Choose wisely what you fuel your body with because it becomesyou, it fuels your ability to be present and do all that you wouldlike to do. It fuels your ability to give to yourself and give to yourfamily and friends. Do you want to be present? Do you want to beable to truly move and enjoy your time with your loved ones and family? Do you want to feel good while you are doing that? It ispossible. It is possible if you simply choose to put into your mouthlife giving foods.

Exercise is one of the easiest ways to pick up your mood. Go for awalk out, go to your favourite gym and challenge yourself or getup and dance with your kids. Whichever you can fit it, the energyyou expend, directly causes your body to releaseendorphins..which basically means you feel happier.

5. Keep yourself hydrated

Water is the foundation of your body. Water is the foundation ofyour brain. When you are low on water, this may lead to your brainto misfire, for you to think incorrectly. When you are low on water,you body is trying to make do with what it has which isn’t enough.When you are hydrated, you will notice a difference in how yourbody feels and in your emotions. Water, a simple remedy toincrease your joy, and decrease your stress.

These 5 simple things yet so critical to your success as you chartthrough your pregnancy, delivery and post partum. Honouryourself, your children, your family and friends by taking care of

yourself enough to be of value to them.  Care enough for yourfamily to do your best to stack as much odds in your favour thatyou can be there as long as possible to enjoy life together.
