Spider-Man is Sony’s most bankable film property. Its five films featuring the character have grossed nearly $4 billion in combined ticket sales.

Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters on July 7, and a sequel has already been announced for a 2019 release.

Sony is developing an expanded movie universe around the Spider-Man license, with a film about Spider-Man’s rival Venom set to hit theaters in 2018.

The company also has an animated movie series in the works and an exclusive Spider-Man video game coming to its PlayStation 4 console.

Sony scored a big hit with its PlayStation 3 game The Last of Us, and an updated version for PS4 also posted strong sales. The game has now sold over 10 million copies, and at least one sequel is in development for PS4.

In addition to video game sequel The Last of Us: Part II, Sony is also working on adapting the property into a movie series.

The Emoji Movie

A movie about emojis might not stand out as an obvious blockbuster premise, but Sony banking on its upcoming Emoji Movie to launch a franchise and be a performance driver.

The Emoji Movie hits theaters on July 28, and the film’s performance will reportedly have a big impact on Sony’s plans for its movie division.

The Men in Black series has been a strong performer for Sony, generating $1.65 billion in ticket sales across three entries.

Sony is working on bringing its alien-battling Men in Black agents back to the big screen, but early indications suggest that the upcoming movie will be a reboot – with series leads Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones unlikely to return.

The Uncharted series is one of Sony’s most successful video game properties, with combined sales for the four franchise entries totaling somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 million copies.
