ABSTRACT Asri Basin located in South East Sumatra as the focus of the research. This study is to analyze the characteriztic and quality of oil and to correlate the oil to stratigraphy using hydrocarbon geochemistry and gas chromatography mass-spectrometry data. The characteristization of oil in the research area has a depositional of shale source rock in oxic and anoxic marine. The study was conducted to determine the characteristics, quality, and correlation of petroleum by using geochemical analysis of hydrocarbons. Hydrocarbon geochemical analysis performed quantitatively and qualitatively using gas chromatography and mass spectrometry chromatography. Qualitative and quantitative data used is the ratio parameter biomarkers. The characteristics of the studied petroleum derived from shale source rock in shallow marine depositional environment to the terrestrial. Type kerogen is lacustrine algal type (type I). The maturity level is mature. By the characterization of oils, showing that the oils in the research area shows that oils come from the same reservoir rock formation in Asri Basin, South East Sumatra. iv

ABSTRACT

Asri Basin located in South East Sumatra as the focus of the research.
