There were 25 motor vehicle stops, 12 accidental/prank 911 calls, four reports of barking/lost/loose dogs and eight reports of loose livestock.

Monday, July 15203 – After previously re-

porting a truck missing, a caller contacted back and stated his son brought it home. RSCO was notified as the caller provided a Wolf Point address.

841 – A female is having an issue with a cougar attacking her horse. The numbers for Tribal Fish and Game were provided but a call back from a deputy was also requested.

843 – Someone found an iP-hone in a pink, white and black otterbox. The phone was brought to dispatch.

1124 – A fire/bush fire was reported in Opheim. A female, who works in Duck Creek, knows the owner and is trying to get ahold of them. The farmer and his water truck were standing by at the scene but the fire is out and all units are headed back to the barn.

1450 – A male called in stating he was going eastbound and he lost a header tire, with the lug nut sheared off. The tire hit a black F150 four-door going westbound at about 70 miles per hour. The F150 did not stop. The caller is now in the ditch on the south side of the highway in a gray ¾ ton Chevy pickup and there are no injuries.

1638 – A female reported a two vehicle accident at 5th Street and 5th Avenue South. She doesn’t believe they need an am-bulance. Another female called in stating the same, however stated the accident is at 6th Street and 6th Avenue South.

1819 – A Phillips County war-rant was served on a male.

Tuesday, July 16845 – A male with the County

Road Department advised that someone is driving a seeder and broke the wooden guard rails off of three bridges on Theony Road. MHP was notified.

1308 – A female reported they have a highly intoxicated subject sitting at their back door with a bottle of BV next to him. She said he is just sitting there drool-ing. Dispatch advised the officer the subject should be on court conditions however she didn’t have them at the time. District Court was notified and the subject

was supposed to be sentenced the day before however it was continued.

1945 – A male, who is an off-duty Phillips County Officer, said he received a complaint about the occupants of a gold trailblazer that threw garbage out on Main Street in Saco. The back windows are covered in plastic and half the plastic is peeled off. The ve-hicle was headed eastbound less than a half hour ago. The male said his complainant will sign a complaint. He has notified his dispatch since he was off duty and was told to call the Valley County dispatch.

2052 – A male said he called about a semi that is out of fuel. When the caller told the other party the price to deliver fuel, the other party freaked out and used bad language. The caller said if the other party calls back, he is not going to respond because of the way they spoke to him. He wanted to let dispatch know that the truck will probably be sitting on the side of the road unless they can find someone out of Williston.

2129 – An officer stated a male reported to him at Holiday that another male was at his resi-dence about one and a half hours ago, cussing and hollering. The other male is possibly intoxicated and may have kids in the vehicle. He was driving a gold Expedition or SUV. The male doesn’t want to press charges.

Wednesday, July 171131 – A male advised the

Opheim Fire Department is re-sponding to a fire. He said they were called by the Richland Fire Department to respond. Opheim has three trucks responding. Richland has two trucks respond-ing. The male advised people are already en route so this doesn’t need to be paged. The male also advised where he thought the fire was. The address was located right on the county line. Not knowing how big the fire was, Daniels County was also notified.

1254 – A female caller, who wished not to give her name, reported semis pulling onto High-way 24 N in an unsafe manner. She said they didn’t even look, they just pulled out in front of people and one of them almost hit her. She said last week they did it and gravel hit her new

windshield, causing a crack. She said they are pulling onto the highway from a gravel road on the west side of Highway 24 N. The female did not wish to write out a statement, just advised that something needed to be done.

1506 – A female received a report from a male that there is a drunk and disorderly older man on the beach at the first dredge. She said the older man has been drinking so the male doesn’t believe that he should be the one to talk to him.

1611 – A female reported tire debris east and west of mile marker 549. She said some of the pieces are about 2 inches in length.

1819 – A female said a white gravel truck almost took their door off. She said it’s coming from the North on Highway 248 and is almost to Glasgow. She then said the truck turned to go towards Wolf Point. The caller said the driver is wearing a green shirt and is texting and driving. The caller said she doesn’t want to sign a complaint.

1852 – A caller reported a vehicle that’s parked very close to his driveway. He wanted to know if there’s a city ordinance on how close a vehicle can park next to a driveway.

2027 – A male said he is pres-ent to repo a vehicle. While he was hooking up the vehicle, a little girl, around nine or 10 years old came outside. She said her parents were not home. He is con-cerned for his safety in case the father returns while he’s hooking up the vehicle. He didn’t know the name of the residents.

Thursday, July 18848 – A female advised her

husband was on their computer last night when a big red box came up and a siren went off locking the computer. A voice came through the computer say-ing they were from Microsoft Tech Support and how could he help her. She told the person what happened and they walked her through what to do to get them on the computer. It then got to a point where they asked for payment. She said she wasn’t sure what they should do but they were concerned about their $1,000 computer so they gave their checking account informa-tion. They were told the payment would be for $249 for two years of support. They called their bank this morning who will stop the payment.

1339 – A male advised he and another person are stranded on a boat down in Hell Creek. He said

something electrical happened and their motor went out. He said they have a trolling motor going but they need to be towed back in. He requested that Hell Creek Ma-rina be called and have someone come tow them back. He said he is in a 17-foot Bass Tracker and they are in Hell Creek Bay at the mouth of Johnson Coulee. Right now they are headed around the point coming towards the marina but just using the trolling motor.

1413 – An officer took a phone call of a hit and run in the Markle’s Hardware parking lot.

2001 – A female reported that her officers are in pursuit of a tan and grey 2006 Dodge Charger. The driver is possibly intoxicated, license is unknown. At 2029, it was advised the vehicle was unoccupied and the area was being searched.

2031 – A female said they received a report that there’s a few people on the rear of a westbound freight train. They don’t know how many. The train is due to arrive in Glasgow in 35 minutes and would like a call if the subjects are located.

Friday, July 191039 – A female advised there

are some transients who have been around town and the female looks quite young.

1444 – A female received a call that when answered was an automated voice saying they were from the IRS and she owes them money. It went on to say if she doesn’t call immediately they will put out an arrest war-rant for her. The female did not call the number back but wanted to let dispatch know she received the call.

1718 – A male reported that there is a fire, approximately 20’ wide, between the railroad tracks and the Tampico Road (around mile marker 7 and mile marker 8). It is believed the fire was started by a train. BNSF advised the fire was reported to them. They were told that the location is about 1 ½ miles north of the intersection of Tampico Road and Liberty Road. They are not stop-ping the train at this point.

1727 – A caller reported a black or dark SUV that’s behind her and keeps going over the center line. They are by mile marker 64 and headed towards Fort Peck.

Family Celebrates 150th Anniversary of Descendants’ Arrival from Norway

gwendolyne honrud / the courier

Members of the Halverson/Halvorson/Kjos/Ness family reunion pose inside the Pioneer Museum during their self-guided tour, July 19.

GWENDOLyNE HONRuDTHE COuRIER

“We don’t know the whole story...” That line comes from the commemorative reunion booklet put together by Chip Halverson for the Halverson/Halvorson/Kjos/Ness Family Reunion & 150th Anniversary Celebration. The story may not be known now, but a significant chapter was written over the weekend of July 19 to 21 when family from far and wide came together to explore the paths taken by their forefathers.

Halverson has spent years researching his family roots and seeking answers, both stateside and in Europe on his travels. His searches have connected him with family still in Norway, who came over to Montana to celebrate the reunion in Scobey. Their travels brought them through Glasgow, where they enjoyed a self-guided tour through the Pioneer Museum and connected with relatives in Valley County.

The reunion saw 173 fam-ily members unite, representing five countries, and 15 states and provinces. Different delegations of the trip took different journeys stateside, from Polson, Mont., and Glacier National Park to Glasgow, then on to Scobey, and back again.

Plans are already underway looking forward to the 200th Anniversary celebrating the ar-rival of the family in America from Norway. Halverson hopes that many remaining questions on the family’s history will be answered by then.
