Relay leg #5 Race Information

• Gear Check- To reduce congregating and contact points, Gear Check has been suspended for 2021. Please drop any clothing you wish to discard in the clothing donation bins at the back of the Exchange Zone Corrals. All clothing will be donated to a local shelter.

• Enhanced Security Measures- Backpacks are highly discouraged and all bags are subject to be searched in all race areas along the course. The Start Line and Finish Line will have athlete only areas. Non-participants will not be permitted in these areas which include the Start Line corrals and the Finisher Festival at the Finish Line. NO FAMILY RUN-IN AT FINISH LINE – Only athletes are permitted on the racecourse, including crossing the finish line. This is for the safety of all athletes, spectators, and race officials.

• Fifth Leg course details: • Relay leg distance-4.8 miles • Start is located at Firestone Community Learning Center - 1545 Fairfax Rd • Finish is located on Main St. In front of Lock 3.

• Fifth Leg Finishing Information: • After you cross the Finish Line on Main St., stay at Lock 3 to enjoy the Finisher Festival, receive

your post-race food and beverages, and rejoin with your team members. • Helpful Tips:

• Parking- Recommended parking location for fifth leg relay runners is Canal Place – 500 S Main St or the Exchange St. Deck - 209 Carroll St

• Shuttle Service to Exchange Zone- It is advised to use the shuttle service provided to the fifth leg relay exchange zone due to limited parking at the start of the relay leg. Runners can find the shuttle busses located at the corner of Main St. and Exchange St. The shuttle departure times begin at 7:30 AM and end at 11:15 AM for this leg. Masks are required on school buses.

• Arriving at the Relay Exchange Zone- Upon arriving at your relay exchange zone, proceed to the numerical staging area as instructed by a race volunteer. Spotters will be calling out the last three numbers on your bib as your teammate approaches the exchange zone. PLEASE KNOW YOUR BIB NUMBER.

• Race Bib: Each participant will receive his or her own race bib. All five team members will have the same bib number. Additionally, relay participants will have a second bib that must be attached to the BACK of the shirt, denoting them as relay participants. The food and beer tickets will be collected when you receive these items at the Finisher Festival.

• Timing Device- Each member of the relay will have his or her own bib which has the timing chip attached to the back. THERE WILL NOT BE A TRANSFER OF BIBS. As one member crosses the timing mat at the relay exchange zone, the next person’s timing chip will begin keeping the time. Do not cross any timing mat other than the finishing mat corresponding with your relay leg. Only one member of a relay team can be on the course at one time. If two people are on the course, it will cause a timing error and your team may be disqualified.
