MISSION STATEMENT We, the people of the Parish of the Holy Cross, are a multi-cultural parish of the young and elderly, married and single, healthy and broken. We welcome all to come together and give praise and thanks to God. Through the celebration of the Eucharist and the other sacraments and devotions of the Church, we reach out to others in mercy and compassion and seek to share the joy of the Gospel throughout our large community. Here, with the support, strength, and inspiration we receive from one another, we are nourished daily on our journey of faith.

Stewards not Greedy “Each day the people are to go out and gather their daily

portion; thus will I test them, to see whether they follow my instructions or not.” (EXODUS 16:4B)

When the Israelites gathered more than their daily portion of manna, the surplus became wormy and rotten. In the same way today, God calls His Stewards to be content with a fair

portion and to be willing to share the rest. Collection Total – July 26th: $13,067.00

A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE In today’s gospel Jesus tells us: “Do not work for what perishes.” Give your life to what endures such as the family history you are creating, the love and mutual respect which bonds you together, the memories you share and the forgiveness generously given. These are the true treasures that are worth working and dying for.

R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) will begin for our Parish of the Holy Cross on Wednesday, September 23rd, 7:00-8:30 PM, at Immaculate Conception Rectory R.C.I.A. is an open door and loving welcome from Jesus to ALL that feel a calling to become Roman Catholic. There is never any “force” or “obligation” on anyone. R.C.I.A. is also for baptized Catholics who have not received the Sacraments of First Communion and/or Confirmation. R.C.I.A. is a beautiful, graced-filled invitation to update our faith and knowledge of God and God’s Church. For more information call Joan Frith (856-534-3464) or Deacon Chris Nichols (609-805-6284).

Mayordomos no codiciosos

o no." (Éxodo 16: 4B).

A NEW PARISH VAN…

Have you ever noticed Church Vans passing you

on the highway or on city streets? I know I have,

and I often noticed that the vans belong to the

churches of our protestant brothers and sisters. I

often thought, why not us? We have such a large

parish community and we are doing so much,

perhaps Holy Cross should have a van of our own.

Well, my friends, we do now. The parish recently

purchased a used Chevy 12 passenger van with low

miles, and this past week we placed our parish

name in huge letters on each side of the van. The

van will be used for Church business only, and I

want to especially use the van for outreach and

evangelization. Some ideas that have already been

discussed are youth ministry, evangelization,

outreach throughout our large territory, and

driving seniors and others to church and parish

special events. The parish finances this year

allowed us to purchase the van and money spent

proclaiming Jesus, reaching out to others, and

building up our parish family is money well spent.

If you are an experienced driver (no special

license necessary) and want to help us in a

Transportation Ministry, please contact the parish

office and let us know. It’s time to eVANgelize!

God Bless you and your families,

Fr. Vin

Dios te bendiga a ti y a tu familia, P. Vince

The world was a playground for Mickey, a naive Irish American kid bored with his life. His father served in World War II, his brother was a Marine in Vietnam; now it was his turn. His 365 days in Vietnam builds in torment until an attack on a bunker complex in Cambodia. Wounded, his friend captured, he becomes a tormented survivor knowing he is always just a heartbeat from death.

In this memoir, set as deeply in his mind as in the Southeast Asian jungle, a young American soldier embarks

on a journey to a war that, for him, will never be over.
