Dear Er. Maguire:
2700 South Andrews Ave.
This will verify your report on our test program of May 7th,
1940. We certainly wish to thank you for this report and for
the fine interest you have shown in our station.
This station has been on the air since December 4th, 1939. We
are completely Western Electric equipped. The xmitter is a 310-B
feeding a Blau -Knox 175 foot tower. This is a perfect quarter-wave
antenna for this frequency. The ground is standard Bell Lab System
using 120 radials a quarter wave long with an 8 foot ground rod
at the end of each radial. On a circle 15% of the tourer height
away from the tower base there is a circle of 4 inch copper strip
to which each radial is soldered. Inside the circle mentioned
above there is a radial run to the tower base between each of the
long radials.
Our regular test programs are scheduled to be broadcast from 3:00
to 3:15 a.m. EST, on the Tuesdeay of each month. The next regular
test program will be broadcast on June 4, at this time. We would
be very glad to hear from you again.
Again thanking you for your interesting report and with best wishes,

We at WILZ are pleased to send this letter as veri- fication of your reception of this station between 4 :00 and 4:30AM EST, March 20, 1961.
WILZ is a daytime station, operating on 1,000 watts of power with a two tower directional array. The towers are 155' each and. spaced 155' on a line bear- ing 175 degrees true. This puts our directional signal to the northward as we are protecting a station on the same frequency in Cuba by International agree- ment.
Our normal operating hours are sign on at 6 :00AM week- days, and 7 :00AÁ Sundays, until local sunset. Our longest day during the summer months of June and July requires our sign off at 7:30PM.
All studio and transmitting equipment is RCA. The studios are located at St. Petersburg Beach, and the transmitter eight miles distant in the south of St. Petersburg, Florida.
We enjoyed participating in your program. Best of luck from the entire staff on future DX!

itecieved your letter of 2.pril 6th, but just now getting around to answering. I remember recieving a similar letter Cram someone in your city som that must be one one you had reference to; however I do not recall recieving more than one, so probably did not get yours.
The information you enclose is correct as you have it. I remember in the case of the other letter, 1 was rather suprized that we could be heard that far. 1 was unusually interested in your and your friend's letters because of that fact. +de do not ancarrage -X letters here as most DX become so insistant that there letters be answered as to becoe a nusence and we have never heard from any of them after that, however as I mentioned, yours was of unusual interest and was worthy of the time and trouble of answering.
Hoping to hear from you again at some future date, and urging gtou to give us a listen any time the second Tuesday in each month at 04:40 to 04:50 AM, I remain,

ImoSERVING THE GOLDEN TRIANGLE oxvko
Dear Mr. Maguire,
EUSTIS - TAVARES - MOUNT DORA - UMATILLA
March 14, 1956
It certainly was wonderful to hear from so many of you N R C members. When I cranked up our little 250 Watt coffee -pot on January 23rd at 3.30 A. M. Eastern Standard Time, I had no idea that so many ears and antennas would be pointed in the general direction of Eustis.
This (although typically radio -late) is to verify your reception of our specially arranged N R C broadcast on the aforementioned date. That definitely was W L C 0
that you heard. Thanks to all for your many gratifying comments. It sure took the curse off getting up so early.
Winner of the box of Citrus from the Livingston Fruit Company, Eustis (which, incidentally, was modified to jams, jellies, and other less perishable Florida goodies) was K. A. Mackey in Dunedin, New Zealand. Aside from New Zealand, Canada was the only other country out- side of the U. S. A. heard from on this broadcast. The States were well represented from coast -to -coast and border -to- border, for an over -all total of 63 replies.
Would like to have been able to write a personal note to each one of you, but, with being tied up at W L C 0, and making a change of jobs, it is necessary for me to take this easy way out. Right now I am lying on Florida's prettiest beach, soaking up the sun that only Florida can boast, and dictating this to my favorite Secretary, Mom. Tomorrow morning I leave for my new job at W R 0 D in Daytona Beach, Florida. (If you haven't logged them yet, let me know and we'll rectify that.)
Till I see you on the air again, 73s to you all:

RE: Verification
Dear Mr. Maguire:
Thank you for your retort on my 'equipment
test' broadcast of January 20, 1951. Your report covering the
period 4:25 to 4 :50 AM EST is quite correct.
Your verification is the 31st that I
have given of this broadcast, and your report adds the 15th
state to my list, for your report is the only one from N.M.
The most distant report ha: come from Oregon. Our rival state,
California, made a good showing with 4 reports while Penn. led
with 8 reports.
This broadcast was the firQt tr ,t :Xers
realy hHd the chance to log us, since we are a 1000 watt
daytime station (680 (C) and took the air Aug. 13, 1950. Our
facilities, however, are not new. The station was prior to
Aug. 13,1950 owned by Clearwater Broadcasters and operated
under the call WCLE.
I want to wish you the very best of luck
with your DX hobby.
