Dear Friends, As always, there’s a lot going on here at St. Bart’s. I am working on a parish questionnaire which will be distributed to you in the next few weeks. We will be looking for your opinion on how we are doing and things we can do better. The Parish Pastoral and Finance Councils will be working to implement your suggestions at our meetings in September. This week you will receive a letter from me regarding the Annual Catholic Appeal. If you haven’t made a pledge – please consider doing it. Your generosity helps our diocese and our parish. While we have surpassed our goal we need to complete paying our pledge- that’s really important. If you are able, would you consider paying off your pledge in full at the end of August? Remember – all monies collected over our goal remain here in the parish. With this money I would like to completely renovate the bathrooms in Heafey Hall (under the chapel). They really need some work. The end of this month will begin our First Communion masses- over 160 children will receive the Eucharist for the first time at these celebrations. We took them in smaller groups on retreat to Our Lady of the Island Shrine. The retreat experience had a positive effect on these young people. Please keep these children and their families in your prayers during these special days. Queridos amigos, Como siempre, hay mucho que hacer aquí en San Bartolomé. Estoy trabajando en un cuestionario de la parroquia que se distribuirá en las próximas semanas . Quisieron saber su opinión acerca de como estamos haciendo y como podemos mejorar. Y en nuestras reuniones de septiembre el Consejo Pastoral Parroquial y de Finanzas trabajarán para poner en práctica sus sugerencias Esta semana usted recibirá una carta mía acerca de la Campaña Católica Anual. Si usted no ha hecho una promesa - por favor considere hacerla. Su generosidad ayuda a nuestra diócesis y a nuestra parroquia. Si bien hemos superado nuestro objetivo, aun tenemos que completar el pago de nuestra promesa - que es realmente importante. Si le es posible, consideraría realizar el pago de su promesa en su totalidad al final del mes de agosto? Recuerde - el dinero colectado luego de superada nuestra meta permanece aquí en la parroquia. Con este dinero me gustaría renovar por completo los baños en Heafey Hall (bajo la capilla ), ya que realmente necesitan ser arreglados. Al final de este mes comenzarán las misas de las Primeras Comuniones - más de 160 niños recibirán la Eucaristía por primera vez en estas celebraciones. WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE A CATECHIST? In a few weeks we will be completing this year’s faithformation program where over 550 children participated! We are in great need of more catechists – men and women 18 years and older who are willing to give up some of their free time in teaching and sharing the Catholic faith. Most of our classes take place on Sundays – some are Tuesday evenings. Classes are only 90 minutes long. All volunteers must have a background check, be Virtus trained (protection of children) and be willing to take courses and workshops to assist you in becoming a parish catechist. On Wednesday, June 25, at 6:30pm we will offer an introductory meeting in the school gym on Judge Street. In order to attend you need to contact Sr. Lucy, with your name and contact information. The Little Sisters of the Poor will be visiting our Parish THIS WEEKEND. Many of you know the Little Sisters of the Poor in their ministry with the elderly poor. The sisters depend on your generosity to help them provide a safe and comfortable home for the elderly men and women in the Queen of Peace Residence in Queens Village. There the residents are surrounded with love, respect, peace and security until their death. The sisters will be at the doors of the church as you leave mass to receive your donations. Please be as generous as your means allow.

QUIERE SER CATEQUISTA? Pronto estaremos finalizando el Programa de Formación en la Fe este año. ¡Más de 500 niños participaron! Estamos necesi-tando mas catequistas – hombres y mujeres de 18 años o más, dispuestos a dar un poco de su tiempo para enseñar y compartir la fe Católica. La mayoría de nuestras clases se realizan los domingos – algunas losmartes por la noche. Las clases son de 90 minutos. Todos los catequistas tienen que ser investigados, participar en el entrenamiento de Virtus (para la seguridad de los niños) y estar dispuestos a participar en algunos cursos y talleres para ayudarles en la labor como catequistas. El Miercoles, 25 de Junio ofrecemos una reunión de introducción a las 6:30 PM en el gimnasio de la ecuela en la Calle Judge.
