IntroductionI have chosen for my second CKV report a movie. My movie report is about the movie Step up 3D. I have chosen for this movie, because it seemed to me a very nice movie and I heard a lot of good stories of my friends, enjoy reading.

Step Up 3D is the third installment from the popular franchise – and in case the clever addition of the letter ‘D’ flew over your head, it was also filmed in 3D.

The movie opens with one of our main characters, Moose (Adam G. Sevani), on his first day at NYU. And because his parents are just so relieved that he has gotten over that whole ‘dance thing’ and is now concentrating on an engineering degree, the first thing he does is participate in a dance off. But uh-oh, the guy he just out-danced is a member of the ‘House of Samurai’ – an enemy dance group of Moose’s new generically really good looking friend Luke (Rick Malambri) and his dancing ‘Pirates.’ Predictable plot ensues, involving a high stakes dance-off and PG love story.

Though obviously formulaic, the movie is reasonably well put together and the cast do a decent job at making their characters likable enough; though they typically lack any depth. The dialogue is mainly just exposition to move the plot along. E.g. “I haven’t played the mortgage on this place for six months, but with the help of this mysterious girl and my new friend Moose, we can defeat the

antagonistic House of Samurai, win the World Jam title! We’ll win $100 000 prize money, and live happily ever after! Yay!” But really, who has time for all this ‘showing instead of telling’ business when there are several flashy dance montages to get through?

This is what turns Step Up 3D from a forgettable cheesy teen flick into a thoroughly enjoyable cheesy teen flick. While lacking the heart of such classics as Dirty Dancing and the poignant social commentary of Save the Last Dance, Step Up 3D certainly doesn’t lack on the moves or the beats. The dancing was incredible (causing me to intermittently exclaim, “Wah, WHOAH, look it… Look it! How does he, like, do that!” and so forth) and though not being a huge fan of hip-hop I did enjoy the music.

The dance montages included everything from walls made of boom boxes, to waterlogged dance floors, to a quite adorable Singing in the Rain-esque sequence that was all bright colors, red brick exteriors and the clever use of bin lids and portraits as props.

With plot holes a-plenty Step Up 3D is definitely not a movie to think too hard about; rather, it is a movie to be enjoyed and to leave you feeling all warm inside when at the end the characters learn to believe in themselves and follow their dreams. Cuz when you’re BFABB*, nothing can stop you.

LocationsThe story takes place in different locations. The story takes place in Paris, New York and on the streets and in the House of the pirates.

Type of clothesThe players in the film dressed good. The players in the movie had all different types of clothes. If they had a dance contest they wore simple and nice clothes that they could move.

The locations & clothes The locations and the clothes are given the sphere of the movie. For example when you see people dancing in the disco gives a nice sphere. The locations in the movie are the most important sphere in the movie, because it is different to have a battle on the stage than to dance on the streets.

MusicI think the music plays an important role in the movie. It is a dance movie and the dance group’s needs music to dance, because the whole movie is about music and dance without music is basically anything fun and is the movie boring to watch. By some dance scenes they dance clearly to the music and by some other scenes for example by the contest they had background music so the people had attention to the dance and not the music. But actually was the movie background music, because it had more to do with dance. For my opinion if you dance of course a good music plays a role.

Special sound affectsThe film contains special sound effects. For example if they danced in the club or at the finals

Order of the movie The story had a chronological order. And it doesn't changed of time and you could follow the movie well

ScènesThe last scène I found the best and I found it the most important scène, The most what I liked was the 3D effect this made it extra fun to see the dancers in 3D. The last dance scene when they had the dance competition was very nice to see. The camera lining, camera position, assembly and the sphere plays an important role in the film.

GenreThe genre of the movie is drama and romance.

Small summaryThe film Step Up 3D is about New York dancers who are preparing for the Final World Jam. This group forms a dance group. Luke’s parents died and Street Dancer Luke saw a deserted warehouse in New York as his only house. In these warehouse the dancers come together to train for the World jam dance competition and make their moves perfect. When Luke and his dance crew The House of Pirates, the property may lose. Luke goes to New York to find a new talent in the underground dance scene to reinforce his crew. There he finds two dancers: Natalie and Moose. Their last hope is to win the World Jam. In this dance competition the best hip hop dancers in the world compete with each other. The team that wins goes with a big cash prize.

Conflicts:In the film there are a lot of conflicts but I will mention two of the conflicts which are in my opinion very important. The first conflict in the movie is about love problems between Luke and Natalie. Natalie joins the dance group of Luke. Later on Luke discovers that Natalie is cheating to them, namely Natalie is forwarding all the dance moves of the group to the rivalen the dance group of her brother. So that’s how they get problems but finally Natalie chooses for Luke, and it seems to work out between them and they make it good with each other.The second conflict of the movie is that the dance group the Rivals threats the other dance group that they will take over their home and that they will make everything hard for them.

Players Rick Malambri plays as Luke, is the leader of the dance group, loves dancing, is kind and sensitive and falls in love with the dancer Natalie

Sharni Vinson is the second player in the movie. She plays a dancer as Nathalie. She loves dancing and falls for Luke.

Alyson Stoner plays as a dancer and student Camille, she is cheerful and kind.

Adam G. Sevani plays as well as a dancer and student Moose, he is kind and he has to study from his father, but he choosed for dancing

RelationshipsThe relationships between the players are Moos and Camille and Luke and Natalie. Moos and Camille fall in love. They know each other a long time. Luke and Natalie both love dancing they fell also in love. But it went suddenly wrong with the love affair between them when they heard something. But in the end everything was fine between them. I think these people are representative of a particular position

The aim of the movieThe aim of the movie is a message and amuse, mainly if you want to achieve something you have to do your best. It is also important what kind of talent you have.

Attention of the publicThe director had different things to have the attention of the public. The 3D effect was a very good way to keep attention in the public. It was very fun to see the dancers in 3D, such as the outstretched arm of the dancers on the camera seems very long. It was also nice that the director Jon chu 3D effect enhanced by to use water, illuminated clothes etc, because it enhances the 3D and that made it extra fun to see the movie. Also the story was great, fun and the story was in a good order, also the dance scenes were really playing attention

I expected from these movie a lot when I was going to the movie. I had seen the other 2 films of step up and they were also very good so I really wanted to go to this movie and also of the 3D effect. I was really looking forward to see the movie. The most what I liked was the 3D effect this made it extra fun to see the movie. Actually was everything very good what I expected some dance scenes were not that good what I had expected,

What have impressed you?What impressed me the most was the last scene when the best hip hop dancers in the world competed against each other for the big prize, the clothes, the location and the 3D effect was also nice to see.

My opinion

Step up 3d is a very good movie. I've seen both movies and yet I find the third one the best movie of the three. The 3d effect was perfectly. I also found the moves in Step up 3d very good and the choreography was very strong. In short it is a nice movie for people who loves dance and also for the people who don't like dance movies. I advise everyone to watch the movie.
