40 Days for Life to Focus on Whole Woman’slater.)

Why is Whole Woman’s the focus of 40Days for Life Twin Cities Lent 2014?

Whole Woman's is a Texas-based abor-tion chain that owns seven abortion facil-ities—one in Minneapolis, five in Texasand one in Baltimore. (Three of theTexas facilities were recently closed dueto the state's new law requiring abortion-ists to have admitting privileges at nearbyhospitals.) In the last two years, the chainacquired and combined two abortionfacilities in Minneapolis—Midwest andMeadowbrook—and opened WholeWoman's at the former Meadowbrooklocation in the Parkside building. WholeWoman's is now Minnesota's secondlargest abortion provider.

Behind the facade of caring for the"whole" woman, the abortion chainleaves a trail of health violations in Texasthat endanger women. The Texas De-partment of Health Services in 2013 citedfour of the five Whole Woman's abortionfacilities in that state for violating safetyregulations for three years. The violationsincluded having expired equipment for itsoperating room, not following propersterilization procedures and violations ofthe 24-hour Women's Right to Know Act.

The Texas Commission onEnvironmental Qualityfined two Whole Woman'sabortion facilities for theillegal dumping of infec-tious and hazardous wastealong with patients' med-ical records.

If Whole Woman's oper-ates its Texas facilities likethis, what can womenexpect at its facility inMinneapolis where thereare no clinic inspections?

This year our Lenten 40 Days for LifeTwin Cities Campaign will be conductedat a new location—Whole Woman’sabortion center at 825 S. 8th St., at theedge of downtown Minneapolis. Pastor-led prayer will be held every day from5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. from March 5 -April 13, with the campaign culminat-ing in a Jericho March the last sevendays (April 7-13).

Throughout the years, many new ideashave come and gone in the pro-lifemovement. Some of these ideas have de-veloped into organized efforts that haveaddressed various issues of abortion andwhich have been effective in aiding thework to end abortion. Other ideas havefallen flat and have faded from our mem-ories. So often, as one of these new ideashas come along, there has been thepromise that this is the one that will bringan end to the killing and restore the hon-oring of the dignity of human life to ournation and the world. Yet the killing con-tinues and, even though there are amaz-ing signs of hope for the future, the workahead of us remains great.

But what if I told you that therealready is a way to directly save babiesfrom being killed by abortion, closeabortion mills, bring the Gospel messageto abortion workers and strengthen ourwalk with Christ? It is called prayer andwitness. And it is being done at abortionmills daily.

Active, quality sidewalk counseling issaving babies from being killed by abor-tion. It is quantifiable and verifiable. Weare able to document these precious livesbeing saved. Not only the babies, but themoms and the dads who are being helpedand referred to pregnancy help centerswhere physical and spiritual needs arebeing met. Children scheduled to bekilled are alive today. Parents whowould have been deeply scarred are keptfrom tremendous anguish and those whopreviously aborted are starting on thepath to healing and forgiveness.

Prayer and witness at the abortionmills are also saving lives and even clos-ing these facilities. The prayerful pres-ence of Christians causes a significant“no show” rate on abortion days, accord-ing to former abortion workers and even

Planned Parenthood Federation of Amer-ica’s internal communications. We knowthat through 40 Days for Life Campaignsand other efforts, dozens of abortionmills across the nation, including one inthe Twin Cities, have closed. Just by per-sistently being there in prayer.

Those who come in prayer to the abor-tion facilities with a willingness to be theface of Christ to people engaged in thedeepest works of darkness have theopportunity to interact with abortionworkers and their supporters. Abortionworkers have quit by the hundreds, andmaybe even by the thousands, around thecounty. And by the grace of God, manyof them have come to Christ.

of the least of our brothers and sisters, weare strengthened in our walk with Christ. We have the opportunity to hone ourevangelistic skills. We are able to offerhope and love to women so desperatethey are willing to have their own chil-dren killed. We work through adverseconditions and still find the joy of Christwho animates our lives. It is a blessing todo this work.

So when was the last time you prayer-fully stood in front of an abortion facili-ty? How often are you there? Once aweek? Once a month? Your presenceand your prayers have a powerful impact. Now is the day, now is the time.

Remembering the 56 Million—January 22 Events

Above -- Despite temperatures being lower than 20 below zero, it is estimated that85 people joined in the Jericho March in Duluth. Many of them stayed for themajority of the hour; this is a testimony to their dedication and enthusiasm for lifethat they endured such severe weather conditions. Surprisingly, Channel 10 newscame to record the event and interviewed Sarah Winandy, a local leader.

The three branches ofPro-Life Action Ministries commem-orated this sad anniversary with var-ious activities while hundreds ofthousands marched in Washington,DC. Pope Francis supported themarchers with the following tweet:“I join the March for Life inWashington with my prayers. MayGod help us respect all life, especial-ly the most vulnerable.”

Peaceful Vigil: A 40-day peaceful witness on the sidewalk outside of WholeWoman’s abortion center from March 5 - April 13

Since 40 Days for Life began in 2007:

* 2,480 individual campaigns have taken place in 501 cities and 19 foreign countries.

* More than 575,000 individuals and more than 16,000 congregations have partici-pated.

* Reports document that 7,536 lives have been spared from abortion and 83 abortionworkers have left the abortion industry, including 3 abortion facility directors.

The U.S. Supreme Courtheard oral arguments January 15in a First Amendment case thatcould impact sidewalk counsel-ing across the country. A deci-sion is expected in McCullen v.Coakley by the end of June.

The case involves a 2007Massachusetts law which pro-hibits most people from enteringthe public area within 35 feet ofthe entrance or exit to a “repro-ductive health care facility”(abortion center). But abortionmill employees and their agentsARE allowed in the restrictedarea.

The outcome in this casecould modify the 2000 Supreme Courtdecision in Hill v. Colorado which uphelda Colorado law that created “floating bub-ble zones” which prohibited sidewalkcounselors outside abortion centers in

supported by abortion groups, municipal government organiza-tions, etc., plus Obama’s JusticeDepartment, which at one pointactually argued that there was noright to conduct a quiet conversa-tion on a public sidewalk! Iron-ically, Justice Elena Kagan com-pared abortion clinics to slaugh-terhouses, asking what if thisstatute had been written aboutslaughterhouses to keep animalrights activists from blocking theentrance and exits.

We pray for a good outcome inthis case, but we have learned notto get our hopes up too highbecause the Supreme Court has

disappointed us before in many decisions. Please pray that justice would prevail forunborn children and those trying todefend their lives and help their mothers!

Babies Savedof Planned Parenthood which is a dis-tance from the public sidewalk, the side-walk counselors must call out to them inorder to be heard. So the sidewalk coun-selor called out the following:

• “Ask to see the ultrasound of your baby.”

• “God loves you and your baby.”• “You don't have to do this, we are here

to help you.”

Meanwhile there was a group of youthfrom out of town who were there for thefirst time, fervently praying. As the side-walk counselor called out, the two youngwomen stopped walking in, looked ateach other, then went back to their car.

Despite this hard winter, lives con-tinue to be saved through sidewalkcounseling! Here are three storiesthat have happened since the lastnewsletter:

* In mid-December, a young woman, 8weeks pregnant, was just about to walkthrough the gate into the abortion centerin Duluth, when she agreed to stop andtalk to the two sidewalk counselors. Shethen decided not to go in! One of thesidewalk counselors, Jim Tuttle, who isalso the Director of the Duluth branch ofPro-Life Action Ministries, walked her tothe Women’s Care Center across thestreet for continued counseling. With thesupport of the counselor there, the youngwoman confirmed a decision for life!

* On a cold Saturday in late November, two young women drove into thePlanned Parenthood “mega-mill” with-out stopping to take literature from thesidewalk counselor at the driveway.Because the women go in the back door

As they left, the driver, with tears rollingdown her cheeks, stopped and said shehad changed her mind and thanked thesidewalk counselor and prayer supportersfor being there and calling out to her.

Listing AbortionistsA hallmark of our ministry has been

confronting the evil of abortion with thelove of Christ. This approach has in-cluded publicly identifying who theabortionists (and pro-abortion leaders)are. The practice of placing the namesof abortionists in this newsletter has atwofold purpose: to ask for your heart-felt prayers for the conversion of thoselisted and to inform you so that you arenot patients of those committing abor-tions.

Is Your Doctor Involved in Abortions?Does Your Doctor PrescribeAbortifacient Birth Control?

Ask your own doctor if he/she doesabortions or refers for them, or pre-scribes abortifacients such as the Pill,Ortho Evra (the “patch”), Depo-Provera(the “shot”), Nuva-Ring, the “morning-after pill,” implants, or the IUD. Allthese methods (and others) can causevery early abortions by thinning the lin-ing of the uterus so that if breakthroughovulation occurs (which it sometimesdoes) and a new life is conceived, theyoung human being may not be able toattach to the uterine lining and thereforehe or she dies. These methods can alsobe very dangerous, even deadly, to thewoman. If you would like to go to acompletely pro-life physician, we have alist of such doctors. Call (651) 771-1500.

Natural Family PlanningFor information about the safe, effec-

tive and morally acceptable methods ofNatural Family Planning (NFP), con-tact our office, or One More Soul at: 1-800-307-7685 or www.OMSoul.com.One More Soul has resources to helppeople understand how children are agreat blessing from God, and how con-traception is extremely harmful towomen, and their marriages, and conse-quently to families, Church and society.

Pray for . . . The criteria for placing someone onthe following list is that the individual isdirectly involved in committing abor-tions and that this can be reasonably ver-ified. We have resoundingly condemnedany sort of physical or psychologicalthreats to anyone involved in abortion. Our desire is for the love of God to per-meate the lives of those associated withabortion, that they will turn away fromthe harm they inflict and become follow-ers of Christ as so many before themhave done. From Planned Parenthood Federationof America’s (PPFA) 2012-2013Annual Report:

During fiscal year 2012-2013, PlannedParenthood reported receiving $540.6million in taxpayer funding, or nearly$1.5 million per day in the form of gov-ernment grants, contracts, and Medicaidreimbursements, a slight 0.3% drop from2011.

In 2012, Planned Parenthood performed327,166 abortions, a 2% drop from 2011.In 2002, Planned Parenthood performed227,385 abortions, meaning they perform

(Editor’s note - PPFA also providednearly 1.6 million “emergency contra-ception kits” and had more than 2 mil-lion other “contraceptive” patients. Many of these drugs and devices canactually act as abortifacients and so,therefore, an unknown additional num-ber of unborn lives were destroyed.)

The sidewalk counselor later reportedto our office, “This was my first ‘obvi-ous’ baby saved, and what a beautifulfeeling it is. After the prayer group leftand I was there alone, I felt not only likea Sidewalk Counselor but more as aGatekeeper, not wanting to let anyonepass without a strong effort to help.”

* In early December, a couple went intoMildred Hanson's abortion center inMinneapolis without stopping to take lit-erature from the sidewalk counselor. Butthe sidewalk counselor had signs offeringhelp and showing the truth of abortionpropped in the snowbanks and she alsocalled out to the couple. About 45 min-utes later, they came out and the youngman said to the sidewalk counselor, "Yousaved a life today!"
