Woman among two killed in mishaps STATE TIMES NEWS
VIJAYPUR: A woman among two persons were killed inseparate mishaps in Vijaypur on Wednesday.
As per the details, Santosh Devi, wife of Parveen Kumarresident of Vijaypur who was working as Anganwari work-er, was hit by a bus resulting into injuries and was shifted tohospital where doctors declared her as brought dead. Policehas taken cognisance in the matter and started investiga-tion.
Meanwhile, Dhani Ram, resident of Majatlta who wascrossing the railway track came under the train near GurahMorh, Vijaypur and was crushed to death. Police has takencognisance in the matter and started investigation.

KATRA: An employee of an eatery was charred to deathwhile two others got injuries after a fire broke out in aDhaba at Bhavan in Katra.
As per the details, a fire broke out in Shop No- 59 locatedat Bhavan at Vaishno Devi Shrine due to short-circuitresulting into death of one of the employee and injuries totwo others. On seeing flames coming out of the shop, localsinformed the fire department which doused the fire andshifted trio to the hospital. The injured were under treat-ment in the hospital. The deceased has been identified asRajesh Singh, resident of Devigarh while the injured wereRavi Singh and Sikander Singh. In the preliminary investi-gation, it was found that fire broke out due to short-circuit.Police has registered a case in this regard and started inves-tigation.

UDHAMPUR: Police on Wednesday arrested a drug peddlerand recovered 6 gm contraband substance (Chitta) from hispossession near Fire Station, Udhampur.
Giving details, SSP Udhampur Rajiv Pandey said that ona basis on a reliable input, a Police party led by SHOUdhampur Sanjeev Chib under the supervision of Dy. SP, ZS Wani laid a surprise naka near fire station and caught onesuspect person, who tried to escape. The said person wastaken into custody and during his search, Police recovered 6gm of contraband substance (chitta) from his possession.The accused, identified as Kuldeep Sharma Saroori, son ofOm Parkash resident of Jakheni, Talab Udhampur wasarrested and a case vide FIR No. 33/2019 under section8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered against him.

RAJOURI: To encourage budding talent among youngboys and girls of remote areas, Army organised a SingingCompetition at Government High School, Sangiot inRajouri district.
In all 11 students from Sangiot participated in theevent with zeal and enthusiasm and presented songs inUrdu, Hindi and English languages.
