Being alert is the very first step towards self-defence. It is

better to avoid conflict that to resolve it. Being able to

assess a particular situation and prepare a quick action

plan is crucial in taking appropriate measures than panic.

Raising awareness includes:

Potential problems & how to avoid them Identifying potential problem situations Preparing yourself for potential trouble Likely scenarios and response training Verbal & non communication defense tools Seeking assistance

Krav Maga is an Israeli self-defense technique developed

by the Israeli Army. In Hebrew, the term Krav Maga

literally means "contact combat." It is a self- defence

technique where strength, gender age and size is not a

hindrance in defending oneself. It is a non-competitive

tactical martial technique that consists of a wide

combination of techniques sourced from boxing, Muay

Thai, Wing Chun, Judo, jiu-jitsu,wrestling, and grappling,

along with realistic fight training. Krav Maga is known for

its focus on real-world situations and extremely efficient

and brutal counter-attacks.[1] It was derived from street-

fighting skills and has a philosophy emphasizing threat

neutralization, simultaneous defensive and offensive

maneuvers. The key issues covered in a self-defence

training workshop are:

How to escape stalkers How to break grips and locks How to attack and defend yourself Using everyday objects as weapons of defense

Self-defence just serves as one face of the coin. The

other aspect to life saving is the ability to respond to a life-

threatening situation for somebody else. The ability the

help someone in danger serves the moral responsibility

as fellow citizens. Imparting life saving skills includes First

Aid and Trauma Management:

What are most common injuries? Identifying type of injury How to help an injured person Do’s and don’ts for giving first aid
