4 REASONS YOU NEED THE BIBLE

1. Jesus needed it

“Be careful to obey all the commands I am giving you today. Then you will live and multiply, and you will enter and occupy the land the LORD swore to give your ancestors. 2 Remember how the LORD your God led you through the wilderness for these forty years, humbling you and testing you to prove your character, and to find out whether or not you would obey his commands.

“3 Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.”

-Deuteronomy 8:1-3 (NLT)

2. You are simple

“Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones. Learn from their ways and become wise! Though they have no prince or governor or ruler to make them work, they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter.

- Proverbs 6:6(NLT)

Do you like honey? Don’t eat too much, or it will make you sick!”

-Proverbs 25:16 (NLT)

“Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world’s standards, you need to become a fool to be truly wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. As the Scriptures say, “He traps the wise in the snare of their own cleverness.” And again “The LORD knows the thoughts of the wise; he knows they are worthless.”

-1 Corinthians 3:18-20 (NLT)

“The instructions of the LORD are perfect,    reviving the soul. The decrees of the LORD are trustworthy,    making wise the simple.”

-Psalm 19:7 (NLT)

“In him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”

- Colossians 3:2 (NLT)

2. You are simple

3. You are sinful

“Well then, should we conclude that we Jews are better than others? No, not at all, for we have already shown that all people, whether Jews or Gentiles, are under the power of sin. As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous not even one. No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God. All have turned away; all have become useless. No one does good, not a single one.”

-Romans 3:9-12 (NLT)

“For the wage of sin is death”

-Romans 6:23 (NLT)

“You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus.”

-2 Timothy 3:15 (NLT)

“The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.”

-Isaiah 55:10-11 (NLT)
