Management • Ensures an abundant range of culture and recreational activities through continuous
development and to be an example from a national perspective.
• Creates the prerequisites for an enriching and health-promoting living environment that contributes towards people remaining in or moving to the municipality through in-house activities or in close cooperation with others.
• Strengthens democracy, gender equality and includes and promotes a positive picture of the municipality through our approach.
Culture and Leisure Department
• Library department is responsibility for the City library, the library at Campus, ten local libraries and the mobile library that serves preschools and schools in suburban areas and sparsely populated areas.
• Culture department provides supports to several different cultural associations and adult educational associations. Support also comprises individual cultural workers, cultural school, craft and art archives, thereof Skellefteå Art Hall. The Nordanå cultural area with its offering of theatre, shop and café is also included in the responsibility.
• Recreation and Sports department is responsible for the booking of premises, association support (including education and development support), a large number of facilities (both municipal and association operated) and municipal sports.
• The Youth and Public Health department is responsible for the youth recreation centres, Ungdomens hus (Youth centre), Musician’s House, FRIS (Prevention Council in Skellefteå), public health, the public baths and outdoor baths.
• Staben is a service department comprising economy, civic management, IT, HR, development and inquiries as well as information and communications.
• Campingen is a commercial section of the Culture and Recreation Office activities. It is made up of Skellefteå Camping and Byske Havsbad.

• Upper secondary schools offer education within the national upper secondary school programme, the introductory programme and upper secondary school for individuals with learning disabilities for all young people aged 16 to 20.
• The Upper-Secondary School Department also offers supplementary adult education at compulsory school and upper secondary school levels, Swedish for immigrants, validation and special education for adults.
