4th Graduation Day

The 4th Graduation Day was organised on 16th July 2017. Mr.V.K.Subburaj, IAS (R) Former Secretary, Dept of Pharmaceuticals Ministry of Chemical and Fertilizers, Govt. of India, New Delhi has consented to be the chief guest. Dr.S.Gowri, Director, Educational Multimedia Research Centre, Anna University, Chennai was the guest of honour.

Staff Motivation Programme

In order to enhance the skills of staff members, Staff Motivation Programme was organized on 22nd July 2017. Mrs.T.Sundaravalli, Counselor & Psycho-therapist handled sessions on Ice breaking, Inter personal skills, teaching aptitude & the roles in professional and personal life.

Meditation Programme

On 5th July 2017, a meditation programme on “Mind Controlling” for all the department students was organized in Michael Auditorium. Mr.Pandikumar & his team spoke about the importance of meditation and how to improve concentration skill.

Lions Club Office Bearer Installation

Lions Club Office Bearer Installation was held at Vedamuthu Auditorium on 26th July 2017. Ln.R.K.Thangaraj, MJF, Past District Governor was the chief guest and installed the office bearers.

Ln.Dr.M.Stalin Arockiaraj, MJF, Chairman delivered the special address. Ln.M.Fatima Mary, Secretary, St.Michael Group of Institutions, Ln.Dr.S.Bridget Nirmala, CEO, Ln.Dr.P.Nelson Raja, Principal, Ln. RM.Arunachalam, Region Chairperson and Ln.K.M.Krishnamoorthy, MJF, Zone Chairperson – Lions Club of Madurai Cosmos felicitated the occasion.

To build the rapport of college with industry an Interaction programme on was organized on 27th July 2017. Both Principals and all Heads of various departments of FMCET & SMCET along with the management have attended this programme. Er.Nawas Babu, Managing Director, S.A.Knit Wears Pvt Ltd, spoke about the expectations of industries.

On 28th July 2017, our CEO mam’s birthday was celebrated by visiting the old age home “Devaki Angel” at Karupayurani, Madurai. Lunch was provided for 30 senior citizens of that home.

One day Staff tour was arranged for all the teaching and non-teaching staff members of our college on 29th July 2017 to Kodaikanal.

Department of Civil Engineering

The Dept of Civil Engineering conducted Code Cracking for final year students under IEI Students’ Chapter on 20th July 2017.

EPL was arranged for III year Civil students to St.Michael School, Madurai on 20th July 2017 and to Assian Bricks Works on 26th July 2017.

All the final year students went for Industrial Visit to KSK Engg. Pvt Ltd, Kerala & VST THOM Tree House Construction, Munnar from 29th August to 1st September 2017..

All the II & III Year students attended Industrial Visit to KSK, Engg Pvt. Ltd, Kerala from 30th August to 1st September 2017.

Selvaganesh, Imaya, Monisha Manju, Nandhini, Saravanakumar, Suthakaran of Final year civil participated in paper presentation held at Vickram Engg. College, Madurai on 3rd August 2017 and Selvaganesh won the III prize in paper presentation.

Arul Anusiya, Sobana, Imaya, Punithavalli, Rajameena of final year students participated in Symposium at Shanmuganathan Engg. College on 23rd September 2017 and won prizes in Poster Presentation, & Dumb charades.

Saravanakumar, Pooja, Nandhini, Imaya, Monisha Manju, Suthakaran, participated in Symposium in SSm Institute of Engg & Tech, Dindigul on 13th Sep. 2017.

Nazreen Fathima, Sethueswari and Anitha, III Year civil and participated in paper presentation conducted by VIMA CADD Education, Madurai on 2nd August 2017.

II and III year students visited Palanganatham Railway Bridge for EPL programmme on 8th Sep 2017.

Department of Automobile & Mechanical Engineering

An awareness programme on “3D Printing on Rapid Manufacturing” has been organized for the II, III & final year students of Automobile and Mechanical on 3rd July 2017. Mr.Sivakumar, Focus Technologies served as resource person and explained the topic in detail.

The National Level Technical Symposium THRUST ’17 was organized by Department of Automobile and Mechanical as a joint venture. Er.K.Rajeswaran, Assistant Manager, New Product Development, TAFE Ltd, Madurai was the chief guest for the inauguration. Around 120 students from various colleges participated in this symposium and presented papers.

The Institution of Engineers – Student Chapter of Mechanical Department organized guest lecture on “Power Plant Engineering” on 27th July 2017. Er.Nagalingam, Thermal Power Plant, Tuticorin was the resource person of this programme.

A One Day All India Seminar on Engine & Vehicle Management System was organized by Automobile and Mechanical departments together in association with The Institution of Engineers (India) Chapter on 23rd August 2017.

Final year Mechanical students have gone for

Department of Computer Science Engineering

Ms.Sangeetha, AP/ CSE & Mrs.Vijayadurga, AP/ CSE have participated in Faculty Development Programme on Python at KLNCE, Madurai on 2nd & 3rd August 2017.

IETE Seminar on Neural Networks was organized by the Dept. of Computer Science for III & Final Year students on 11th August 2017. Dr.D.Selvathi, Senior Professor, Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, Sivakasi was the resource person of this programme.

Ms.Sangeetha, AP/ CSE attended Two Day Workshop on “Python” at Vellammal College of Engg. & Tech. on 18th & 19th August 2017.

Personnel from Silicon Software Services conducted a 5 day Value Added Course for III & Final Year students of CSE Dept. from 23rd to 20th August 2017.

All the Final year students of CSE went for an industrial visit to Mpower Global Solutions, Bangalore and Atom Solutions, Mysore on 30th August & 1st September 2017.

Department of ECE & EEE

A One day workshop on ARMT was organized for II, III & final year students of ECE & EEE on 8th August 2017. Mr.V.Kasirajan and Mr.Sathishkumar handled various sessions.

A One day workshop on PCB Design was organized on 9th August 2017 for ECE & EEE students. Mr.P.Raghu was the resource person of this programme.

All the 3rd & final year students of ECE & EEE department went for an industrial visit to Radio Astronomy Centre and ACE components & Electronics, Mysore from 31st Aug to 4th September 2017.

Department of Science & Humanities

On 9th August 2017, Fresher’s Day was

arranged for the first year students. Our

beloved CEO Dr.J.Bridget Nirmala, felicitated

the occasion in the presence of Dr.P.Nelson

Raja, Principal.

A detailed presentation on various scholarship schemes was conducted for the first year students by Dr.Subramanian, Dean/ Research on 16th August 2017. Students were guided to apply for eligible scholarships as per the rules and regulations.

A three day Orientation Programme was conducted for first year students from 21st August to 23rd August 2017. Mr.K.V.Muruga Bharathi and Mr.Thanigaivel Pandian, JC Trainers handled various sessions on stress management, goal setting, team building, communication skills & activities to improve attitudes.

Yoga Awareness Programme

Yoga awareness Programme for all the first year students and staff was organized in Vedhamuthu Auditorium on 14th Sep 2017 Mr.S.Senthikumar, Yoga Trainer, handled session on some of the breathing exercises and

simple yoga practices with demonstrations.

National Sports Day

The National Sports Day was celebrated grandly on 29th August 2017. Mr.Ranjith Kumar, International Player of Para Athlete was the chief guest and he motivated the students in a positive way.

Blood Donation Camp

As a part of Founder’s Day Celebration, a

blood donation camp was organized by NSS

Unit of our college along with Meenakshi

Mission Multi Specialty Hospital, Madurai on

5th September 2017.

Around 120 students took part in this

programme and donated blood on this day.

Teacher’s Day Celebration

Teacher’s Day 2017 was organized by ISTE

chapter and grandly celebrated on 6th

September 2017 in Michael Auditorium.

Dr.S.Bridget Nirmala, CEO felicitated the

occasion in the presence of Dr.P.Nelson Raja,

Principal. Various programmes, fun events

and cultural performances were conducted

for the staff members. Mr.B.Selvakumar, AP/

Maths received the Best Teacher Award for

this year.

Project Expo 2017

Project Expo 2017 was organized on 16th September 2017 for all the students in the college premises. Students exhibited their talents through projects. Prizes were given to the selected projects of each department and certificates were given to all the participants. Mr.B.Muruganantham, Vice President, MADITSSIA, Proprietor, Cosmo Plast, Madurai was the chief guest for the Prize Distribution Ceremony.

Awareness on “Social Media”

An awareness programme on “Social Networks & Cyber Crimes” was arranged for all the department students on 18th September 2017 in Michael Auditorium. Mr.J.Saravanan, Founder, Smart Ant consultancy, Chennai addressed the students and explained various crimes related to social networks especially about the consequences of Blue Whale game.

Industry Visit by I-I-I Cell

All the HoDs, Department Development Coordinators along with Industry Institute

Interaction Cell members visited Mahia Estate at Uranganpatti on 22nd September 2017. An official meeting was conducted with Mr.Nawas Babu, Director, Mahia Estate. He explained the various steps to be taken to encourage students towards entrepreneurship.

Project Expo visit - CECRI

All the first year students visited the Project Exhibition conducted by Central Electro Chemical Research Institute – CECRI on 26th Sep 2017. Many innovative projects and concepts were explained by Research scholars.

Presentation Competition

In order to develop the confidence level of first year students, Paper Presentation Competition was conducted on 27th Sep 2017. Students presented their ideas and views on various topics of their respective departments and exposed their talents.

NSS Activity – Cleaning of Vaigai

As a part of NSS activity, our NSS volunteers took part in Cleaning of Vaigai River – Swach Bharath Scheme in association with Madurai Corporation on 28th September 2017.
