4 th Grade Newsletter October 24-28, 2016 Teacher Contact Information Looki ng Back at Last Week: Reading The students learned about the elements of a literary non-fiction text. The students created story maps that included the plot, theme, and sequence of the text that they read. Writing The students used the Big T to start a new prompt. Language Arts-The students practiced writing dictation sentences correctly. Math The students multiplied two digit numbers using area, array, and base ten models. ** Please do NOT work ahead! It is important for students to have daily practice.

Study Spelling words

- Monday-Friday: Read for 20 minutes & get a parent’s signature on the Reading Log.

- Monday and Wednesday: Reader’s Response over what they read. Follow the guidelines for writing a response. Use BME for nonfiction texts. Use SWBST for

fiction texts. (See attached anchor charts for examples.)- Tuesday and Thursday: Reading Menu
