Basketball-3point shots  by Kaleb Davis 

 James is 21 years old. He’s from Miami. One day James was practicing his 3 

point shot at his house which has a basketball court. It was on the top floor of his house.  The hoops were huge and the court was long. The floors were polished smooth. His shoes make a squeaky noise on the floor.  He feels happy and excited that he has a basketball court in his house because he wants to become a professional basketball player.  After he comes back from school he practices for 2 hours every day.  He is a sporty guy with a lot of courage.  It’s his dream to be in the NBA and he needs to learn a lot about basketball to be a good player.   

James’ dad is a race car driver.

  He is really perfect at racing.  He competed in the Daytona 500 on 2014, winning 

ten million dollars. He used the money to buy the house and basketball court for his son. 

 Later, he was in another race and had bad accident. His dad crashed into the wall, which made him get broken bones.  His dad was always  the one who helped him play basketball, but now he has some injuries, so James has to take care of him. Now James has less time to play basketball.   

The tryouts in Miami are less than a week away.  He just can’t get his three point shots to make it in.  Now that his dad is injured he asks his brother for help. He wants to spend all his time practicing, but he also has finals.  He is in his last year of college at the University of Miami.  He was studying to be a music teacher just in case being an NBA player didn’t work out.  His final exam was on Friday and his exam was about guitar. 

When he’s nervous, he bites his lips and taps his fingers. He was doing this 

all week before the exam. He talked with his dad and brother about it. “Dad, I’m scared of my exam!” he said. “Don’t be scared.” Dad said. “Remember what your Mom taught you. Never 

give up.” When the tryouts finally came, James was ready. He was feeling excited. He 

did his best and he made the team. 

 He made his dad Happy. He went back to school and passed the exam.   Then he went to meet his team mates. They were awesome and kind to James. They all had dogs too, except for the coach. He had a cat. Then he went to his first basketball practice. And he was , he made a lot of his shots and made some good dunks. His dad and brother were very proud. They came over for dinner a lot. Then he went to his first game. And the coach said he did amazingly good. James got a new dog, a golden retriever named Sammy. They played catch a lot, with stuffed animals. James became MVP of the NBA.
