Sunday April 15, 2018 4 DISTRICTS Two thieves arrested, 40 stolen pigeons recovered STATE TIMES NEWS ARNIA: Police on statuary arrested two thieves who stole 40 pigeons valuing Rs 90,000 at Arnia. As per the details, On April 6, 2018, a person namely Vijay Kumar son of Natha Ram resi- dent of Wage Kothey Kalyana lodged a written complaint at Police Station Arnia stating that during intervening night of March 30- 31, some unknown thieves stole 40 pigeons from the roof-top of his house which he had kept there in his Kabootar Khana. On this, a case vide FIR No.16/2018 under section 457/380 RPC was registered at Police Station Arnia. During the course of inves- tigation, several suspects were rounded up and were subject to questioning. Two suspects namely Jasvir Singh alias Gaaro son of Omkar Singh resident of village Kalyana and Sunil Kumar alias Billa son of Nikka Ram resident of village Kalyana confessed their crime and on their disclosure 40 pigeons (valuing app. Rs 90,000) were recovered. Both the persons have been arrested. The arrest was made by a police party led by SHO Police Station Arnia Insp. Deepak Pathania under the supervision of Sourabh Prashar SDPO R.S Pura and R.C. Kotwal SP Hqrs. Jammu. Absconder arrested after 2 years STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: Police on Saturday arrested an absconder who was evading his arrest for the last two years. As per the details, absconder namely Lal Hussain son of Mohd Ghazia resident of Kalhara Treyath who was wanted in a case vide FIR No. 85/2016 under section 379/RPC of Police Station Kalakote was arrested from Sialsui village of Kalakote by a police team headed by SHO Kalakote Darshan Singh under the supervision of SDPO Nowshera and AdSP Nowshera. Leopard kills 42 livestock in Bhallesa STATE TIMES NEWS DODA: Fear has gripped among villagers of Mallat in Tehsil Chilly - Pingal of Bhallessa area in Doda district, as a leop- ard reportedly run havoc killed 42 sheep and goats and injured 15 others in the early hours on Saturday. The feline entered the community cattle-shed at Kutti ham- let of village Mallat and attacked the herd for nearly two hours. This resulted in the death of 42 sheep and goats and injury to 15. Some died owing to injuries and others owing to shock, police sources said. The leopard is said to have come from the forest areas of nearby hillocks and returned after killing the sheep. The attack has resulted in a loss of over lakhs, said one of the owner Juman Ali. According to the villagers, nearly half-a- dozen big cats are on the prowl in the area for the last sever- al weeks and it was one of these that had entered the cattle- shed on Saturday. "The police personnel from Police Station Gandoh along with the veterinary doctors visited the village and arranged the postmortem so that poor people would get the compensation at the earliest," said Rajinder Singh, ASP Bhadarwah. "The villagers were also assured that a search would be conducted for the leopard, and a cage with a live bait would be placed to trap it, as we have already informed the Wild Life Department for the same," ASP added saying that sheep and goats belonged to four villagers namely Juman Ali, Mohd Ayoub, Mohd Musa and Lal Hussain. STATE TIMES NEWS POONCH:A big religious function was held at Dera Sant Pura Nangali Sahib, Poonch on the occasion of 319th 'Khalsa Saajna Divas' with the completion of 131 Sri Akhand Path Sahib under the aegis of 108 Mahant Manjeet Singh Ji on Saturday. Nagali Sahib being the origin of Sikhism in the State of Jammu and Kashmir, devotees from vari- ous parts of the country including Uttar Pardesh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh reached the holy place and participat- ed in the function. After the Bhog of Sri Akhand Paths Kirtan lecture sessions started in which Raagi Jathas of Bhai Jagseer Singh from Patiala, Bhai Harcharan Singh, Bhai Bhopinder Singh, Bhai Harcharan Singh and Bhai Ranjit Singh, recited Gurbani Kirtan while Bhai Sarwan Singh Sewak from Punjab, Prof Hardev Singh, Prof Netar Singh, Bhai Ravinder Singh and Bhai Balbir Singh threw light on the creation of Khalsa Panth by the Tenth Guru Gobind Singh Ji on this day in 1699. JKGLTF flays SDM's order STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: State Gen.Secy of Jammu Kashmir General Line Teachers Forum (JKGLTF) Rakesh Singh strongly con- demned the arbitrary order issued by SDM Mahore in which he has empowered the Patwaris of Revenue Department to monitor punctuality, regularity and working of the teachers. Moreover the SDM also said in his order that the leave sanctioned by headmaster of the school shall not be valid and the teachers have to get it sanctioned from the ZEOs concerned. Singh said "we are not against the monitoring of the schools and teachers but we are against the very mecha- nism adopted by SDM Mahore which is nothing but just to humiliate the teacher fraternity". Forum also said that this order of SDM Mahore is also in contrast to the monitoring mechanism issued by Director School Education Jammu vide his order no DSEJ/A&M/ schools/19359-84 dated March 30, 2018. STATE TIMES NEWS POONCH: Taking a step towards restoring the glory of Poonch Qila building and to remove encroachments around the historical monument, DDC Poonch Mohammad Aijaz on Saturday issued order for demarcation of the land appur- tenant to the Poonch Qila building. In order to carry out this exercise, a team has been constituted with Assistant Commissioner, Revenue as the Chairman and Tehsildar Haveli and EO Municipality as its Members. A stipulated time period of two weeks has been fixed to carry out the exercise and submit the report for fur- ther necessary action. The civil society of Poonch has expressed its concern over encroachments around the Poonch Fort and demanded removal of the same and restoration of the pristine beauty of Poonch Qila. The repair and renovation works of the Fort are in progress under the supervision of the Archaeological Survey of India. The removal of encroachments shall pave way for restoration of the beauty of one of the old- est forts. The district administration would issue notices to the encroachers and has appealed them to voluntarily remove encroachments and cooperate in the interest of great common good of the people of the dis- trict. District Development Commissioner Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
