The Sturgis Buffalo Chip has long been known as the place to catch the biggest shows in town during the Sturgis rally. The nine-day music and motorcycle festival has consis-tently played host to the biggest names in the music industry for the last 35 years. Now, just when you think you know what to expect, Woody and co. throw a curve ball that leaves you sure of only one thing you never know who might show up at the Best Party Anywhere!

This year is no exception. The Chip has truly outdone itself once again by bringing in one of the most infamous living musical legends ever to walk the planet, the Prince of Darkness and Godfather of Heavy Metal himself, Sir Ozzy Osbourne.

The Wednesday, August 9th, performance was set shortly after Ozzy had wrapped up Black Sabbaths farewell tour. Its one of only a small string of U.S. dates and among the first U.S. Ozzy solo dates in over six years. Though this made a sizeable splash in the music world, there were still questions remain-ing prominent among them, Whos going to be in his band?!

The Ozzy camp dropped the earth-shattering news the world was waiting for a little over two weeks later and it was even better than hoped for. Ozzy would be reuniting with legendary axeman and heavy metal Viking God in his own right, Zakk Wylde.

Zakk is Ozzys longest-running guitarist, having joined Ozzys band in 1987 as a previously unknown 20-year-old guitar prodigy, and going on to pen some of the most celebrated and enduring heavy metal tunes ever recorded.

Smash hits like Mama, Im Coming Home, No More Tears, Perry Mason, I Just Want You, Dreamer, and a host of others solidified them as the pre-eminent heavy metal song-writing duo of the 1990s and 2000s. Zakks attention to detail in taste-fully recreating the styles of his predecessors whilst injecting his own unmistakable style also made them

one of the most dynamic live performance duos in heavy metal history.

The best results occur when projects are clear in purposeand this stunning custom 2017 Street Glide embodies that concept perfectly. The second-year custom-build collabo-ration between the Buffalo Chip and Kuryakyn is quite purposely race-inspired. And considering the Sturgis rallys racing roots plus the Chips clear com-mitment to promoting and encouraging the sport of racing, thats entirely appropriate.

It was just last year that Buffalo Chip owner Rod Woodruff overhauled the campgrounds amphi-theater to accommodate RSD Super Hooligans and Crazy Johns Street Drag racers, resulting in a crush of two-wheeled revelry Sturgis rallygoers hadnt witnessed in decades. This year, construction ensued, buildings were moved and the track was expanded to accommodate a pro TT course unlike any other for American Flat Track competition; the Super Hooligans and Street Dragsters both return, too. Add in Dirt Riot Endurance off-roading and AMA Supermoto West races and theres race action almost every day of the rally.

Kuryakyn has presented another absolute win-ner, Woodruff said, of the RRR custom. The race theme and the flat-out powerful look capture the excitement of all of the action taking place at the Chip this summer.

And that gets back to purpose. Though its look is ultra clean, the 2017 Rock, Rumble & Rebel-lion bike incorporates the features of a regular rider. Its sophisticated, with cultured class masking barely restrained capacity. Thats due to a focus on amplifying the Milwaukee-Eights already muscu-lar 107 engine, starting with Kuryakyns recently re-imagined Hypercharger ES intake and Crusher Maverick 4 Slip-onsmaximized by a Vance & Hines Fuelpak FP3. The Hypercharger ESwhich appeared here first, on the RRR customfeatures ram-air style inlets and an internal stinger con-figuration for maximum airflow. A larger K&N fil-ter adds a boost, too. One-off headers mate to the Crusher slip-ons.

That centerpiece Hypercharger ES is just one of many components that made their debut on this motorcycle. A slew of parts from Kuryakyns Pre-cision line of parts, components only just released for Harley-Davidsons newest M-8 platform, dress up the engine in handsome fashion. They include

covers for the inner primary, cylinder base, starter, oil cooler, spark plugs and more plus a transmission shroud and top cover.

Kuryakyn also saw the RRR project as the ideal platform to showcase their new Mesh and Riot collec-tions. The Riot floorboards and shift peg are distinctive, strongly motocross in feel. Accessories from the Mesh line are properly abundant on the bikethere are over 50 in the lineand perfectly aligned with the concept.

Heavy Industry grips and mirrors mate to FMB Choppers Razorback drag bars for an aggressive rider position, enhanced by an ODC inverted front end. Contrast cut Performance Machine Formula wheels and matching rotors are a perfect fit. A cus-tom-made Mustang seat and Kuryakyn AirMaster Dark Smoke Windshield provide rider comfort while towing the stealthy line.

Bodywork includes a Fat Katz Front Fender, Kuryakyn Signature Series Smooth Console by Jim Nasi, and Kuryakyn Speedform Saddlebag Exten-sions. The re-vamped bags and the rest of the sheet metal were custom painted by Todd Gilbertson of Gilbys Street Department and you better believe theres nothing simple about the simple elegance the RRR bike exhibits. Gilby doesnt take credit for the design but his execution is flawless, the result of a keen eye and long experience.

Theres more, of course, much more. The lengthy

parts list belies the bikes clean appearance. To the credit of the build team, accessories are so astutely blended theyre only noticeable on closer inspec-tionor not at all. It speaks to an attitude shared by the Chip and Kuryakyn, an outlook where rock, rumble and rebellion blend in sleek, seamless har-mony.
