As I write this article, I just fin-ished confirming all of our stops for the Spring Drive. We pushed the date out an extra month this year but its still rapidly approach-ing. June 7-8 is less than 60 days away.

Rooms are only being held through May 7th. Auburn gets lots of tourist but has limited hotel space. Please make your reserva-tion as soon as possible.

Now about the trip, we are depart-ing from the parking lot of Jo-liet Junior College. This gets us south and out of the city, avoiding most of the early morning traffic. It will be an early departure be-cause we loose an hour heading east and our last stop of the day closes as 5 PM. Each leg of the trip is about 60-70 miles. At the College we will conduct registra-tion, pass out trip information and hold our first grab bag drawing. ( this now officially qualifies as a "club tradition" this will be our third year). We will depart the Col-lege and our first stop will be Valparaiso.

This is just a coffee and fuel stop. From there the next leg takes us to

Amish Acres where we will have lunch family style in a Threshing

Spring Drive to Auburn

Barn and tour the various build-ings ( This is also our required "Winery Stop"). From there we will depart for Auburn and get to the Auburn /Dusenberg Museum about 3 pm and stay until 5 pm.

We then drive over to our Hotel, check in, freshen up and drive about 7 miles to Avilla Indiana for Dinner. Dinner is in the Historic St James Hotel.

The next morning we have a con-tinental breakfast at the hotel and at 9 am we head over to the Na-tional Truck and Auto Museum. This is a separate museum, housed in some of the origi-nal Dusenberg factory buildings.

From there, we hit the road and head west. We will stop for lunch at an undetermined location then on to South Bend to visit the Stu-debaker Mu-seum. ( I personally am looking forward to this because my grandfa-

ther worked for Studebaker for 40 years. His last Studebaker was a 63 Silver Hawk and my dads last Studebaker was a 64 Daytona. I remember as a kid being at his dealership the day the first load of Avanti arrived. We should finish at Studebaker by late af-ternoon and everyone can de-part from there for home.

With all these great Auto Muse-ums , we all should get our “car fix" on this trip. I hope to have the actual schedule done by the first week of May and will ask Ken to send it out. The miles are a little less than last year, but we do have a compressed time factor due to the time change as we head east on Saturday.

Please register, it makes plan-ning so much easier with pre-registration. See everyone in a few weeks

Register now ! Time is running out!

The Champagne British Car Festival is just around the corner, May 31 - June 2, in Bloomington, Illinois on the grounds of the David Davis Mansion.

The Highland Games and Scot-tish Festival will be held on June 21st, 2014 at Hamilton Lakes in Itasca Illinois. This is at the Northeast Corner of I-355 and Thorndale. The British Car Festival is on Saturday the 21st only from 8 am to 4pm.

A few of us have attended this over the past 2-3 years. We have had 2 to 4 cars, never much of a strong club presence. The Lotus club usually gets about 6-8 cars and then another assorted 5-6 British cars or assorted makes.

We would like to make this a strong event for the club. With a little effort we could own this venue. We get prime display space, everyone entering or leaving the event walks past our cars.

We have a nice paved area to park in with a grassy knoll with

Scottish Festival & Highland Games trees behind us to sit. The nice part about this display is you can get up every once in a while and go visit the games. They have Pipe and Drum Bands, food,Rugby,Soccer,Whiskey tasting ( this will increase par-ticipation),Crafts, and many cultural attractions.

Your registration fee is Tax Deductible because this is a Fund Raiser for a non for Profit Organization.

his is a great way to spend a Saturday and get immersed in some fun and cultural activi-ties as well. Its close and sim-ple.

Drive your car, park, set up your chairs and enjoy. Feel free to create a Plaque that explains your car to the public, display your awards, display accessories for your car....its an unstructured event.

Registration is done at the site on Saturday, no early sign up re-quired.

Hope to see a good turn out.
