Asking for and giving opinions

To ask someone’s opinion, say:• ¿Qué te parece el colegio?

– What do you think about…?

• ¿Te parece que los profesores son difíciles?– Do you think that…?

• ¿Crees que la profesora va a llegar tarde?– Do you think that…?

• ¿En tu opinión es buena la nota de 8.5?

– In your opinion…?

To give an opinion, say:• Me parece estupendo.

– It seems… to me.

• Sí, me parece que son excelentes, pero algunos son difíciles.

• No, yo creo que llega pronto.

• Sí, para mí (Yes, for me) es una nota buena. Creo que voy a salir bien (to do well).

Giving adviceTo tell a friend what he or she should do , say:• Deberías tomar historia con

el profesor Ramírez.– You should…

• Debes estudiar más para sacar buenas notas.– You should…

• Hay que trabajar mucho en la clase.– You should…

• Es importante hacer toda la tarea. (It’s important…)

Nota Gramatical

• Deberías is a softer way of expressing you should than debes.

• All the forms are followed by an infinitive.
