Welcome to Selangor International Business Summit 2019. The state of Selangor, the economic powerhouse of Malaysia is geared towards its biggest event of the year, commencing today.

The 4-days event at Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC)’s will feature 850 booths with a good mix of domestic and international businesses. With an expected turnout of 30,000 visitors, the expected negotiated trade transaction value stands at RM250 million; almost 30% higher than 2018’s RM194.6 million.

The Selangor government’s role is to facilitate business relations between global and domestic markets, as well as to congregate industry players through investment opportunities which create a foothold over the course of SIBS annually. This year’s summits are geared towards growth and upcoming industry trends, and will prove invaluable for upcoming and established businesses.

Conference 2019 (10-11 October), and the inaugural edition of the Selangor R&D and Innovation Expo (10-13 October) which is geared to provide unprecedented access to the latest technology and upcoming developments in a multitude of industries. The 4th Selangor Smart City & Digital Economy Convention 2019 will commence on 11th October and will provide an invaluable theoretical and practical framework for trending and upcoming aspects of the global economy.

Gearing Towards a 2025 Smart SelangorExhibitor’s News

Through the Smart Selangor project, Selangor is already paving the way for the development of future cities by leveraging on the Internet

of Things (IOT) solutions, with the ultimate aim of improving the quality of life for all its citizens.

Smart Selangor promotes social inclusion by focusing on stronger links between the Government and the citizens, and to involve and engage with citizens in order to address urban and rural needs by using technology as a key enabler.

This vision is supported by 12 identified domains under the Smart Selangor blueprint. Forming the core domains of this modern technology initiatives are smart waste management, smart transport and mobility, smart governance and smart digital infrastructure.

To spearhead these core domains, several projects were established since Smart Selangor’s inception in 2015 including the iClean waste management, Intelligent Response System (i-RS), Selangor Intelligent Transport System (SITS), Selangor Cashless Economy Agenda, Wifi Smart Selangor and the Klang River enhancement programme (Selangor Maritime Gateway), among other projects. With Smart Selangor being a truly people centric programme, every aspect of each development

involves thorough engagement with the people, local councils and industry players to know that their needs are in line with the Menteri Besar’s aspirations.

Smart Selangor will be a manifestation of a strong collaboration and co-creation culture between the smart citizens and a smart government. It is hoped that Selangor will continue to be the catalyst of the concept of a Smart State not only in the region but globally as well.

With Selangor positioned as the gateway to ASEAN, Selangor International Business Summit 2019 is a well-established platform to showcase Selangor towards being the Premier Smart State in ASEAN by 2025. The summit has continuously extended a large range of smart businesses and investments to strategically take place, establish, and grow in Selangor.

Organised by Invest Selangor Berhad under the patronage of the State Government of Selangor, this international summit brings global brands and congregates industry players from all over the world. Compared to last year, this year’s summit is set to host a bigger event with larger number of booths and trade visitors, spanning over a space of 43,092 square meters, targeting to achieve greater revenue for the state at this largest state event with greater prestige at SIBS 2019.

The state embarks on a mission to be the Premier Smart State in the ASEAN region by 2025. In pursuit of this goal, the state government has entrusted MBI Selangor and several subsidiaries namely SSDU Innovations Sdn Bhd, SMARTSEL Sdn Bhd, KDEB Waste Sdn Bhd and Landasan Lumayan Sdn Bhd, among others, to execute this vision.

Year 2011, The Star SOBA Malaysia Business of the Year 2012 and Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards 2014. PKT is also a strong advocate in giving back to the society in sustainable way via various innovative programmes such as:

The Smart Truckers programme trains young graduates as truck drivers and enjoy a higher salary compared to other fresh graduates.

The One Logistics Hub in Shah Alam, Selangor consists of three iconic warehouses namely (from left) The Lighthouse, The Ship and The Waves.

PKT provides part-time work opportunities for mothers and housewives from surrounding communities to undertake casual work in our warehouses. With ABIB, these mothers and housewives do not need to venture far from their homes to earn supplementary income while their children attend school and thus have free time on their hands.

Students who study in PKT’s corporate campus, which is called The Lighthouse Campus in Shah Alam can gain part-time working opportunities during non-contact hours. This provides them not just a source of supplementary income but relevant and practical work experience.

PKT hires fresh graduates who are trained to become truck drivers. This has revolutionised the trucking industry by making truck driving as a profession. After four years, the graduates will have the option to work in the office; rich with operational experience.

PKT warehouses are naturally lit and ventilated to reduce energy consumption and provide a comfortable working environment. Solar panels generate power that feeds into the TNB grid while electrically powered forklifts provide for zero emissions in the warehouse.

Rain Water harvesting systems harness rain water for internal use while LED lighting reduces energy for illumination. The Lighthouse is Malaysia’s first Green Building Index (GBI) Gold-certified warehouse.
