Pleasant News
April showers bring May flowers….. an old saying that we hope rings true. As I write this, there is a kiss of rain in the air and we hope to con-tinue to be blessed with moisture, following our long dry spell. Our March newsletter featured an article explaining the particulars of our Bed Rail Safety project. We are off and running with systematic evalua-tion of each neighborhood, and have already experienced some great suc-cess in one of our neighborhoods in reducing the use of bed rails and bed mobility devices. It seems that safety is on our agenda in other areas as well. We will now be assessing all of the power strips that are being used in resident rooms. There is some very specific criteria that must be met. We will be ad-dressing the use of power strips, the type of power strip, whether it meets specifications, and whether there is the use of medical equipment being used in the resident room. When it comes to tornado safety, we have a drill each year to practice going to our safe areas. We have completed our drill and our residents and staff performed well. With spring weather just around the corner, we want to be sure our folks are ready!

3. Exercise of Rights
You have the right to exercise your rights as a resident of Pleasant View Home and as a citizen of the United States, without fear of interference, coercion, discrimination or reprisal. You and/or your representative have the right to organize or participate in resident and/or family groups. You also have the right to choose a representative, including a spouse (opposite or same sex), family member, friend or others to exercise your rights on your behalf. Legal guardians appointed on your behalf may exercise your rights according to state law. You retain the ability to exer-cise any rights that you do not delegate to a representative.

Chaplain’s News Article April 2018 1 Corinthians 15:12-14 New Living Translation
Tell me this – since we preach that Christ rose from the dead, why are some of you saying there will be no resurrection of the dead? For if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised
either; and if Christ has not been raised, then all our preaching is use-less; and your faith is useless.
It is the week preceding Easter, but also of Good Friday, as I write. As wonderful as the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, equally marvelous is the record of His death and resurrection. Isaiah the prophet re-minds us of the importance of Christ’s death when he wrote: “He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities (53:5);” but the teaching of His suffering would be empty were it not for His resurrection, as we often hear: “He is risen indeed!” Paul the apostle provided profound theology when he wrote: “If we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection (Romans 6:5).” Yet increasingly, atheism is becoming popular. Scientist Dr. Steven Hawking, who recently died, said “there is no heaven or afterlife for broken down computers [humans]; that is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark.” Contrast that thought with one from Pastor Timothy Keller, noted author: “If Jesus rose from the dead, then you have to accept all that he said; if he didn’t rise from the dead, then why worry about any of what he said? The issue on which everything hangs is not whether or not you like his teaching, but whether or not he rose from the dead.” Both the record of the Bible and the record of history attest to the resurrection of the Son of God. We are always very appreciative of the churches, pastors, lay people, and guest speakers who speak in the Thursday (6:30 P.M.) Chapel Service. Chapel this month will be presented by the Zion Mennonite Church of God in Christ (April 5), by the Inman Mennonite Church (April 12), by Mr. Richard Miller, representing Men of Grace, an out-reach ministry at Hutchinson Correctional Facility (April 19), and by Bethel Mennonite Church (April 26). Since the last publication, the following Pleasant View residents have passed on to receive their eternal reward: 1) “Butch” Dunn, February

Harvest House April is here already, Just a couple months away and the kiddos will be out of school for the summer. We look for-
ward to having the junior volunteers come and help us out. We made some shamrocks for the resident’s doors. We then had a group
come in and sing to us in the eve-ning and the guys were relaxing in
the chairs listening to them.
We went to Walmart and then headed over to Olive Gar-den for lunch.
We celebrated St Patricks Day and make some Corn
Beef and had a few guests join us for lunch.
Eldo enjoying some Breakfast on St Patrick’s Day

PLAZA
It seems like we experienced all four seasons of weather in the month of March. Spring is here now and we are hoping there are a lot of April Showers to bring the May flowers. Plaza continues to be in need of an Activity/Social Service designee. If you or someone you know has a special heart for providing quality, life enriching activities for the elderly, give us a call! As we celebrate Easter we want to remind family and friends how much we enjoy spending time
with you on special occasions and that you are also welcome to visit us any time. We also want to wish you a happy Easter and pray for God’s blessing on you during this time of remembering the sacrifice of His Son and the glorious resurrection of Christ our Lord!

What does the word INTERGENERATIONAL mean? The definition is where multiple gen-erations of people intermingle or come together. Edna loves having her fingernails painted so young Peyton volunteered her time to spend with Edna. This is a fantas-tic example of that word. Thanks again Peyton, Hunter and all the
young volunteers that help here at PVH. You make a differ-ence!
Della, Pat & Susan show off their Lucky Green Clover Craft.
While we were making the clovers we had a visit from this baby lamb. He would cuddle and hold still for a few quick seconds and took a great pictures with

April 2018
East View Villa and
Hello and Greetings to our friends in the Estates and East View Villa! Wow what a weather change—love the nice spring weather!! March had lots of fun activities and events. Guatemala 2018 Mis-sion Trip by Gail Weins was our Estates Program with lots of pic-tures and narrations of building a church. We got our hands and feet pampered at Creative Hairlines. For our St Patrick’s Day cele-bration we ate sweet treats. We celebrated National Oreo Cookie Day with lots of different types of Oreos and National Crayola Crayon Day by coloring. We had a couple trips to Wal-Mart and Dil-lons with lunch. We enjoyed a fun edible cooking class of Easy In-dividual Chicken Pot Pies and Crustos. March Madness was the talk of the coffee shop. Biscuits and Gravy by our very own Katie Holl-ingshead is always a huge success. We enjoyed listening to Karesa Gay with her family singing and Joshua Lightfoot and his wife sing-ing and playing bluegrass music. We went to Save-N-Share and McPherson Opera Resale/Consignment store with lunch at Neighbors Cafe. We started a bus to the Senior Center for lunches on a few Thursday’s per month. As always to end our month we had our monthly Potluck lunch which had lots in attendance for good food. We have lots of fun activities going on in April: Bound 4 Glory as our Estates Program, Crafts, Cooking class, MCC Sale, Cornerstone Market & Harvest Cafe Lunch Trip, Wal-Mart/Lunch Trip, Inman Car Show, Women’s Health Fair in Hutchinson, and our all-time favorite Potluck lunch. Impromptu trips we will take as the weather al-lows...As always look for flyers and signups. As the warm weather gets underway, kids will be out playing. Please be sure to watch when walking/driving for our next genera-tions.
