Initial State

Before the installation, the rack and installation kits are packed and delivered onsite.

Final State

After finishing the installation:

• The rack is ready for commissioning

• The rack is not powered up.

Preparation

Prerequisites

The following prerequisites apply:

• The site must comply with the safety rules given in the General Wiring Handbook

• The site is ready to receive the racks, according to the SPP 59 - Specification for 9130

BSC/MFS Evolution Site Preparation.

Site Specific Information

You must have the following specific information to complete the scenario.

Site:

• Grounding plate location

• Power supply cabinet location

• Fuse breaker locations in the power box

• 2 wire or 3 wire power system (if applicable)

• Precise rack location

• PCM terminal block location

• Usage of External Alarm Block

• Number of STM1 cables to be installed

• Number of alarms to be connected.

Rack:

• Door opening direction (left or right)

• Rack fixing (wall, raised floor, steel construction, concrete foundation).

Kits:

PCM cables impedance (120-ohm, 75-ohm).

Overview

DANGER

Electric-shock hazard

Risk of electrocution to personnel and damage to equipment.

Before making any electrical connections to the rack, ensure that the safety instructions

are followed.

It is essential that:

• The electrical power supply is disconnected. Ensure all breakers or fuses devoted to

the new rack into the site connection box are switched OFF

• The protective EARTH (GND) must be connected to the equipment before DC power

cable connection. It must be firstly connected at site side and secondly at rack side.

Ensure that the safety rules are applied.

How to Install Optical Cables for STM1 in Release B11

Overview

Note: This task must be performed only if the STM1 option was selected at BSC side.

An optical fiber cable (patch cord) is a very sensitive object. Please handle it with

care.

When routing the optical fiber cables, ensure that the bending radius is higher than the

minimum bending radius provided by the manufacturer. Generally the bending radius

of a optical cable is greater than 20D, where D is the diameter of cable.

Follow the manufacturer's recommendations.
