Over the past eight years, Lale Virostek has led the St Ursula catechetical program. During this time, she’s done a wonderful job instructing our children in the faith and leading them to love Christ in all they do. In addition to being the director of our PREP program, Lale also directed and taught our youngest students in a truly wonderful “Catechesis of the Good Shepherd” program. This in-volvement in “CGS” opened other opportunities for Lale, as well. The past two years, she’s also been involved in the teaching of CGS students at St John Neuman parish.

With the implementation of On Mission for the Church Alive! fast approaching, we are clearly in a time of transi-tion. As part of that transition, we can expect that some of our employees and volunteers will re-evaluate the roles that they wish to play in the parishes of the diocese.

An opportunity has made itself available to Lale at St John Neuman parish, and she has decided to take advantage of that opportunity. As a result, Lale has tendered her resig-nation as program director of our catechetical program effective May 20th. Knowing that she’s excited about the opportunity there, I’ve accepted her resignation.

On behalf of the entire St Ursula parish family, I’d like to thank Lale for all the wonderful work she’s done for the families of St Ursula parish! We have been blessed to have her minister to our children, and I know that the families of St John Neuman will likewise be blessed by her ministry there!

Good luck, Lale, in your new role! Our prayers go with you!

Blessings, Fr Larry

Mission Statement

We, the parish community of St. Ursula, guided by the Holy Spirit, are called to continue the mission of Jesus Christ. We dedicate ourselves to the fulfillment of this mission by committing to use our varied and abundant gifts to serve the Lord and one another through wor-ship, faith formation, and education. Centered in Christ, nurtured by the Eucharist, our covenant is to extend Christ’s peace and compassion to all.

I Am The Good Shepherd – The image of God as shepherd and his promise to lead his people in safety appears throughout the Bible. It is one of the most tender images of God that we can have as he assures us of his constant care and

protection in our lives. This care applies not only to us individually as his children, with the shepherd carrying us in his arms, but also to us collectively as the Church, with God leading his flock in safety. This repeated promise to shepherd his people is our guarantee that God is in charge of his Church and that he leads us no matter the circumstances. As we journey On Mission for The Church Alive! we may wonder where the Lord is leading us. While it is natural or us to resist change, it is also an opportunity for us to grow in trust of God, our shepherd and guide, that he may transform us and his Church. As we learn the decisions regarding Parish Groupings and Clergy Teams next week may we call upon our Good Shepherd to lead us and our parishes in the years ahead. Visit onmissionchurchalive.org to learn more and to stay informed. PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN WORKSHOP — All Saints Parish in Etna will be hosting a "Protecting God’s Children" workshop on Saturday, May 5th. It will begin at 9:00 am and will last approximately 3 hours. This workshop is mandatory for all volunteers and employees of the Diocese of Pittsburgh and it is also highly recommended for parents, grandparents and all those who work with children. There is no charge to attend. To register, please call Anna at 412-781-0530. MAGNIFICAT PITTSBURGH PRAYER BREAKFAST Ladies, come to the Magnificat Pittsburgh prayer breakfast on May 12, from 9 am to Noon at the Crowne Plaza, Green Tree. Kelly is a theological scholar and she and her husband have 8 children. Cost of the breakfast is $23. To register, call Pam at 412-461-8906 or Kay at 724-772-6749 or go to www.magnificatpittsburgh.org - Registration deadline is May 4.

Advent Angel

Oh Advent Angel come to me, Open my eyes that I may see

The Babe, Who born on Christmas day,

Lay in a manger in the hay And smiled upon the world so vast,

And in our hearts He cast A spell of peace and love.

Oh Advent Angel take my hand

And guide me with your heavenly band To my Saviour, newborn King,

Whose praises all your angels sing And will forever through all time—

Because He is our Lord sublime.
