Feastday message

I am elated to honor the Celebration of the 34th Feastday of Santo Niño “NONOY PO” of Bulusan on January 2012. As an annual holy event, I am certain that this year’s gathering will highlight faith, hope and love as the spectrum of humanity in our drive to pay tribute to the young messiah.

The young Jesus Christ reminds us of the youthful moments that we have in the early stage of our life. The Santo Niño remains our holy symbol of purity and innocence. Unscathed of prejudices and injustice, the Sto. Niño serves as our guide in all our endeavor and in our desire to better serve the underprivileged, more particularly, our youth sector who will all soon shape our future. The wonders of our faith has always put us in a secured zone, truly protected by the Almighty.

Our journey to life is lightened by the rays of trust and devotion. Our faith to God will remain steady as we aspire for the salvation of souls. The Sto. Niño of Bulusan has never put us in crucial moment, if so, the Young Messiah always finds a way to carry our burden even during his early life. Let us live life according to the will of God while we put premiums in serving our fellowmen without hitches and judgment.

May the Santo Niño be with us all the time.

d The Santo Nino of Bulusan or “Nonoy Po” once told the devotees, “Magdasal kayo. Ito ay para sa inyo at hindi sa amin.” (Pray. It is all for you. Not for us.)

Apart from the Holy Mass, the Bulusan Mission is entirely hinged most especially with the prayers to the Lord of Pardon, Rosary, and Chaplet of the Holy Infant Jesus that is recited by families every day for a week. Accordingly, vision of “Nonoy Po” is “to bring genuine peace of the people of the world through prayers and devotion to Almighty God.”

As in the past, this year’s testimonies of the long time and new devotees are marked with the devotion and prayers to the Lord of Pardon, Rosary, and Chaplet to the Holy Infant Jesus.

Indeed, when one makes a constant devotion and prayer, life becomes more fulfilling and spiritually enriching. Viva Nonoy Po!

When was your LOP group established? Who are the founders/coordinators of your group? The Lord of Pardon Heritage/Metrogate Bulucan group started in April 1997. The core members are Eddie, Norma and Michael Molate; Fredo and Susan Ragas; Bert and Maris Vivas; Eva, Nelly, Nanay Anita, Pol and Nene Sison. The families and other members have supported us all throughout the years that we have been doing this mission.

How did your Perdon group start? It was the first Friday of April 1997 early in the morning when Nonoy Po appeared in my dream and he instructed me to do the mission. He said: “Norma, mag mission ka dito sa lugar ninyo” (Norma, you should start a mission in your area). I immediately called Ate Sonia to prepare one set of the LOP images that I would bring home. We opened the mission starting with the Holy Mass in front of our house on the last Saturday of April 1997, followed by the propagation of the Lord of Pardon.

What were the challenges your group encountered in the propagation of the mission? How did you face/overcome these challenges? The parish priest in our community was initially against the LOP group but with the help of Nonoy Po, Mama Mary and the Bulusan Group who have supported us on our Saturday mission, the mission was later on accepted. I’m very thankful that we haven’t encountered so many difficulties in propagating the mission in our place – and we continuously pray and do the mission religiously.

What were the changes/blessings that happened in your life after accepting to propagate the Lord of Pardon mission? Some of the great blessings that we continuously receive are good health for my family, peace of mind, contentment

in life and the privilege to serve God and His people. It is a very rare opportunity to serve Him by propagating the LOP mission. Because of this mission, He has taught us to be humble at heart and accept that only God can provide everything for our everyday needs in life.

Are there any inspirational stories that happened to any of the members of your Perdon group aside from your own personal experiences? Most of the prayers requests of the LOP members have been granted. Examples are passing the board exam, success in landing jobs either locally and or abroad, success in business and being healed from sickness. Most of prayer requests are granted while the LOP images are at their homes. Reason why after seven days the mission have been brought to their houses, most of them immediately ask for another scheduled visit of the LOP images.

Last October 13, 2007, at around 4:00 PM, some 13 perdonistas were in a procession for the Lord of Pardon that will be transferred to another house. It was dark and cloudy and I thought that they should move faster to avoid the rain. While the group was praying inside the house where the images were transferred, I happened to glance at the sky and I unexpectedly saw the figure of God The Father. I chose to be quiet. After praying and singing, I asked my fellow perdonistas to look up at the sky and I asked them if they see something. Some of them replied that they saw the Blessed Mother with her hand clasped, while others saw the Christ with His majestic crown. Still others saw angels smiling at them. With these visions, my co-perdonista Gina cried for minutes. She could not believe what she saw but she was nevertheless thankful for what she saw. I was indeed very grateful for I had been praying to the Lord of Pardon. The group experienced a very memorable moment in their lives and we are very grateful to have experienced such miraculous phenomenon.

Aside from propagating the Lord of Pardon mission by teaching and inspiring others how to pray the rosary, does your group have any special activities that contribute to your community? (i.e. outreach activities, youth programs, annual Christmas parties etc.)

On the third year anniversary of our Lord of Pardon, the group was given the opportunity to join the choir/sponsor group in our Church. We were given the slot every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month to sing in the 8a.m. Holy Mass. We also participated in the Christmas carolling and parties of the church. Our main obligation is our sincere and obedient heart to bring the LOP images to every interested family and provide instructions for proper prayers to be done while the LOP images are at their homes.

What are your future plans for your group? Will you still continue the mission?

We will continue the mission unto our last breath and in accordance to God’s plan. I believe some of our members

share the same faith to our Lord of Pardon. Expansion of the group depends on the will of God (Nonoy Po) and He knows what’s best for all of us. We just have to live according to His plans.

What is your message to the other members of the Lord of Pardon Mission/devotees of the Sto. Niño?

Please continue to propagate the Lord of Pardon mission. Never give up on any trials and always carry your crosses. Always remember that Nonoy Po, Mama Mary and the Holy Spirit will always guide and love us until the end of time.

Describe your LOP experience.

Serving the Lord of Pardon mission and Nonoy Po is the greatest experience in life. Indeed, very challenging yet very rewarding. God is true to his word that He will never forsake nor abandon us even in our darkest hour. 9

When was your LOP group established? Who are the founders/coordinators of your group? Founded on October 2, 1986 under the name of the Society of Sto. Nino “NONOY PO” (U.S.A) as a non-stock and non-profit religious corporation registered in the State of New Jersey. On March 15, 1992 a Certificate of Amendment was filed under the new name “The Our Lord of Pardon Prayer Group of Central New Jersey Corp”. After meeting all the requirements imposed by the IRS during the advance ruling period, on May 16, 1997, an official final determination letter was granted by the Internal Revenue Service with an exempt status under section 501(a) of the Internal Revenue Code as an organization described in section 501(c)(3) as a non-profit religious organization within the meaning of section 509(a)(1) and 170(b)(1)(A)(vi).

Through our commitment and spiritual dedication, the Our Lord of Pardon Prayer Group of Central New Jersey has established a trustworthy relationship with Filipinos and Americans alike living in the United States and abroad.

The Organization is currently staffed by the following dedicated devotees: Samuel and Ardina Racela - Tresurer, Alex and Nyda Manuel-Secretary , Delia See –Public Relation and Rev. Fr. Roman Modino-Spiritual Advisor

How did your Perdon group start? The Our Lord of Pardon Prayer Group of Central New Jersey was established under the premise of instituting the objectives of the Philippine Bulusan Mission through the leadership of Mrs. Gloria Flordeliza also known as “Sister Gloria”. The organization primarily focuses in the propagation of the devotion to the Our Lord of Pardon (Jesus Crucified), the Holy Infant Jesus and Blessed Mother Mary by performing apostolic house visits, rosary recitation and novena prayers to families. The mission continued

under the leadership of Gloria Flordeliza’s eldest son Nicanor Flordeliza with his wife Maria Teresita Flordeliza and their two children Alan Ray and Albert Ryan Flordeliza from 1988 to the present time. The Central New Jersey Chapter continued to evolve and recently concelebrated its 23rd year anniversary together with the Northern Chapter last October of this year.

What were the challenges your group encountered in the propagation of the mission? The initial challenge like any other Perdonista’s experienced, is getting the interest of the people to heartily accept the faith and openly welcome the Our Lord fo Pardon Mission. As you are aware, there are other religious groups that are performing similar apostolic work to propagate the Catholic faith. Another challenge is the time that people need to dedicate towards the mission. The depressed economic condition in the United States at the present time, have an adverse effect in peoples interests in the mission. There’s also a factor of peoples priorities changing which puts another hump that we need to overcome.

How did you face/overcome these challenges? In fact these challenges still exist since the Mission was established. Perseverance and the continuing faith and trust to the Sto. Nino helped us overcome these hurdles. I believe that if its God’s wil nothing can stop of it from going.

What were the changes/blessings that happened in your life after accepting to propagate the Lord of Pardon mission?Basic manifestation of having lived an abundant fruitful life under the grace of God all these years are some of the wonderful blessings that happened in our lives. My family are in fairly good health and with the Sto Nino’s protection and care, we were able to meet the demand that our daily life requires of us to fulfill.

Page 11: 34th Feastday Celebration Souvenir Program

Are there any inspirational stories that happened to any of the members of your Perdon group aside from your own personal experiences?I don’t have any particular inspirational stories to tell but all I can say is that the group share similar thoughts, feelings and experiences about the mission. The fact that the same group of Perdonista’s helped support the mission over the years, tells me that these families were inspired and may have received countless blessings unbeknownst to me. As far as I know, their families remained healthy and continued to show enthusiasm in support of the mission.

Aside from propagating the Lord of Pardon mission by teaching and inspiring others how to pray the rosary, does your group have any special activities that contribute to your community? (i.e. outreach activities, youth programs, annual Christmas parties etc.)The Organization hosts a Golf Outing event every year. Proceeds of the event benefits the Our Lord of Pardon Mission whose primary objective is to propagate the devotion. It also promotes social, cultural and spiritual activities to all Filipino and American communities living in the United States and the Philippines. The Organization currently provides charitable help and scholarship to deserving students in need.

What are your future plans for your group? Will you still continue the mission?Future plan is still and will be to continue in propagating the devotion through the upcoming years.

What is your message to the other members of the Lord of Pardon Mission/devotees of the Sto. Niño?Continue in the propagation of the mission and don’t give up. The Sto. Nino promised that the more we serve and honor him, the more blessings we’ll receive. Blessings manifest itself in different ways and I believe that having a healthy body, mind and spirit are the greatest gift from God.

Describe your LOP experience.“As a devotee and a humble servant of the Sto Nino, I personally believe that the Our Lord of Pardon Mission experience is an endless journey to achieving a high spiritual state.” 9

When was your LOP group established? Who are the founders/coordinators of your group?

The LOP Norhern New Jersey Group was established in the year 1996. The coordinators of the group were Efren and Chato Fiesta & Tony and Imelda De Guzman

How did your Perdon group start?

The group started when the LOP New York group introduced the mission and Nonoy Po to the devotees in New Jersey.

What were the challenges your group encountered in the propagation of the mission?

One of the challenges our group experienced was handling the members of our group. People come and go but despite this difficulty our leaders remained intact.

How did you face/overcome these challenges?

Because of our faith to Nonoy Po, by constantly praying, and believing that He is always on our side we overcame these challenges.

What were the changes/blessings that happened in your life after accepting to propagate the Lord of Pardon mission?

Our life became more meaningful when we joined the Lord of Pardon prayer group. We did not only receive material blessings but being a member of the group and helping propagate the mission gave us a sense of spiritual fulfill-ment. The mission also taught us how to be more faithful

to Him by trusting Him in times of trials and being grateful for all the blessings He has been constantly providing us and our families.

Aside from propagating the Lord of Pardon mission by teaching and inspiring others how to pray the rosary, does your group have any special activities that contribute to your community? (i.e. outreach activities, youth programs, annual Christmas parties etc.)

We are committed to our monthly Filipino mass by celebrating the Holy Eucharist and spreading the news of Our Lord of Pardon mission. In addition to this, we also have our yearly Christmas caroling participated by the members of the group. This yearly event is done in order to raise funds for the Bulusan Mission and to shoulder some of the expenses that we need for our yearly Lord of Pardon anniversary.

What are your future plans for your group? Will you still continue the mission?

Yes, definitely we will continue to propagate the mission of our Lord of Pardon as long as we live.

What is your message to the other members of the Lord of Pardon Mission/devotees of the Sto. Niño?

Let us continue to propagate the mission. This is a very rare opportunity given to us to serve Him and inspire others by exercising our faith in service. Furthermore, here’s how we should pray “Nonoy Po, tulungan po ninyo kami na maging mabuting tao at maging inspirasyon sa iba.”

Describe your LOP experience.

Our Lord of Pardon is our way to salvation. 9

Nonoy Po , the Christ Child of Bulusan. instructed me to register his LOP ministry sometime in 2003. My late husband Jesus C. Lammatao

helped me in finding the agency on this endeavor for it entails a lot of paper works.

I started working on it in coordination with Jessie Cristobal - LOP Inland Empire Overall Coordinator and Sonny & Brenda Galza San Diego Overall Cordinator. It was approved and registered as a Non –Profit Organization in the State of California in 02/05 /2007 as SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA OUR LORD OF PARDON- BULUSAN MISSION PRAYER “GROUP INCORPORATED“ with EIN: 20-8710334. For nineteen years now, the LOP Los Angeles & Inland Empire take turns in hosting the yearly anniversary and thanksgiving Mass celebration of the LOP Ministry of Nonoy Po. San Diego Chapter prayer (due to the distance), also celebrates yearly as a group and all the devotees also attend their anniversary Mass celebration.

Nonoy Po: Life and LoveBy Linda Palaad – LunaOroville, Califo rnia, U.SA.

In 1975, when the world of Prospero Luna seemed dark and without direction, Bro. Ben Dimson found him thru the calling of the Holy Infant Jesus “Nonoy Po”. Pros was

timely pulled away from his weary life to a better future with a bright beginning. As what he has been praying for a long time to be able to regain the momentum of a sound, pleasant situation, his life then changed. He started to visit the Bulusan Church in Mandaluyong City to attend the celebration of the Tuesday and Friday holy masses. He would stay late at night to have a chance to talk to “Nonoy Po”. Thereafter, his prayers were finally granted which was a big part of a new beginning. He met Linda Palaad, fell in love and was married, his ultimate God-given companion and partner for life. The gift package was from “Nonoy Po” includes his American Dream – he emigrated to the United States of America in early 1980.

“Nonoy Po’s” mission spread in many countries of the world. The first out-of-the country Lord of Pardon Prayer Group was organized in San Francisco, California by the Palaad Family (Prospero Luna’s in- Laws) in 1978 thru the guidance of Nanay Gloria Flordeliza and the blessings of “Nonoy Po”. Nanay Gloria successfully multiplied more prayer groups in the California Bay Area, such as Fremont – devotedly coordinated by Salvador & Ofie Flores, Union City, Hayward, Daly City and the rest is history. From 1979, Nanay Gloria would come and visit these prayer goups in time for the anniversary celebrations. How to figure

the strength, energy, and patience of Nanay Gloria in the mission of “Nonoy Po” is a divine gift from Him. Pros was able to travel almost every States of America, including Canada, because he sincerely choose to assist Nanay Gloria in the propagation of His devotion. Pros expressed his gratitude and love to “Nonoy Po” by offering the Holy Rosary everyday in honor to His Mother, Mama Mary.

Pros enjoyed a long life through the many blessings of “Nonoy Po”. He passed away at age 76 in his country of birth on July 23, 2010, however, his ashes were buried in Colma, California, U.S.A. 9

“God indeed works in mysterious ways. In the end, everything turns out to be alright even though in the midst of it all, it didn’t seem right.”

Case DismissedBy Teresita Delfin

My name is Teresita Delfin. The following testimony happened in Seattle Washington state in 2007.My son was suspended

indefinitely after his co-workers and his partner have accused him of ten violations of company rules.

Every month they had a court hearing that took almost a year. And so I called Nonoy Po thru Nanay Gloria regarding this matter. Whenever there is a court hearing, I always call Nonoy Po and Toto from New York. He was in the Philippines that time. Toto told me “just pray to God,” and he said that He will answer our prayers.

I always pray to the Eternal Father, Nonoy Po and the Blessed Virgin Mary. And so after nine (9) months, another man told the truth in court that he was the one who committed the crimes and not my son. He told the court that my son is innocent of the all the crimes lodged against him. Thanks to Nonoy Po !

When the judge dismissed all the cases filed against my son, my son called me right away to tell me about the court decision. Thank you very much Eternal Father, Blessed Virgin Mary and Nonoy Po.

I always tell all my friends and recommend the mission of Lord of Pardon or “Nonoy Po” Bulusan mission especially thru His instrument, Sister Gloria Aclan Flordeliza.

At this point, I would like to thank Toto, his wife Nene (Aida) and Olive for introducing me to the Lord of Pardon mission. Because of this experience, I also told my two (2) sons to always pray to the Lord of Pardon everyday. For once, Nonoy Po told us “The more you honor me, the more I will bless you.”

I went to the Philippines to meet personally Nanay Gloria and see the Little Shrine of the Holy Infant Jesus in Bulusan. Thank you God and may the good Lord bless us all. 9

I was thrilled when I learned that Nonoy Po was coming to my home first in 2007. At that time, my sister was looking for another job that has

health benefits as she had to have foot surgery for a congenital anomaly. She did not find another job but instead she found a mate in life!

And I, in turn, found a rental property in Queens which I am setting aside for my retirement years. Since then, Nonoy Po has graciously visited my humble house twice a year. Since then, my sister and I would pray every night, rain or shine, no matter how tired we were. There have been no job promotions, no jackpots, no miracles. But i notice that everytime Nonoy Po is in my house, there is always a sense of PEACE and SUFFICIENCY.

The problems seem to be bearable no matter how grave they were: the long unemployment of my brother in Texas and brother-in-law in California, the theft in my apartment, the foot amputation of my sister, the immigration denial of my brother in the Philippines. All of these problems came and just went by.

I believe that Nonoy Po provided the companionship and guidance through all these ordeals. I continue to anticipate the homecoming every year because of this. And yes, my sister still has the same job without the health benefits but it is the same job that allows her to have her physical therapy thrice a week and resume schooling twice a week. She now works at home and still receive a full paycheck. God indeed works in mysterious ways. In the end, everything turns out to be alright even though in the midst of it all, it didn’t seem right. 9

TESTIMONIALS BY DEVOTESS

Through His Guidance

PersonalStories

Hoping to get to know on a lady I was blind-dated with two weeks earlier, I first entered 175 Bulusan Street on 20 June 1981 (Saturday)

for a follow-up date. I had no idea about the address or its chapel where one can actually speak with the Holy Infant Jesus. My first encounter with the Santo Niño was totally unexpected for I was not aware nor fully grasp with whom I was actually talking with. As a result of which, He even advised me to know myself and get to know Him. Two weeks later after a series of strange occurrences/coincidences transpired around me, I returned to Bulusan Chapel purposely to speak with the Santo Niño of Bulusan for I felt He wanted me to get to know Him. On this particular Saturday night (04 July 1981), I was ushered by Engineer Bienvenido “Ben” Dimson to the Manifestation Room who Nonoy Po instructed to orient me on the ways of Bulusan.

My Bulusan orientation started with PRAYERS when Brother Ben informed me that Santo Niño devotees say a lot of prayers to attain solutions to their problems; personal sanctification; and joy, success, achievements in life. Bro Ben explained that there are 3 ways the Santo Niño would grant what a devotee needs; all of which are dependent on the fervor of the devotee’s prayers. First method is yes, right away; the Santo Niño will grant what you need because you have prayed fervently for it, you deserve it, and it is spiritually good for you, and so Nonoy Po will grant it right away. The 2nd way is yes, you’ll get it but in a little while for you must pray more for it; there maybe hindrances that He must clear for you to attain it like the devotee’s pride, selfishness, or physical/ spiritual fitness. The 3rd manner is yes, but you must wait for it by zealously praying for it; there are major stumbling blocks that must be straightened up; it is not spiritually/ physically right for you at the moment. So wait, it is yours in God’s time.

As per instructions of the Santo Niño, Brother Ben told me that: a devotee of the Santo Niño must know and be able to lead the Chaplet of the Holy Infant Jesus. I right away memorized the Chaplet for it was easy to learn; and in a few days time, I led the Chaplet in the daily prayers held at Bulusan Chapel.

However, on meditating on the 12 Mysteries of the Chaplet of the Infant Jesus, a thirst and desire to know everything about the Santo Niño developed in me, especially on what really happened during His younger or lost years. I discovered out that the flight of the Holy Family and their stay in Egypt was actually 3-4 years of exile before their return to Nazareth. His getting lost & found in the Temple at the age of twelve (12) was all about His preparations for His forthcoming Bar Mitzvah—of becoming and acceptance as an adult Jewish male in the Jewish religion/nation. On this first phase of Bulusan orientation, I developed the habit to pick up, read and study all the religious books, articles and writings (I could find) on lives of Holy Infant Jesus, Mother Mary and St. Joseph. My dormant devotion to St. Joseph was revived.

After the first lesson on prayers & Chaplet meditations, my mentor, Bro Ben, instructed me that: a true devotee of the Santo Niño must have a special relationship with His mother as the Infant Jesus loved her. This made a lot of sense since Mama Mary has carried Him inside of her for nine (9) months; gave birth to Him, nursed and took care of Him as a baby, fed Him as a child and taught Him how the Jews praised and worship God, His Father. Bro Ben then explained that in the Chapel of the Santo Niño of Bulusan, Mama Mary is honored by saying the complete Mysteries of the Rosary with the Litany prayed at the end of each of the Joyful, (now Luminous), Sorrowful and Glorious Mysteries. As narrated by Nonoy Po: when we meditate on all the Mysteries of the Rosary, we experience, internalize and inculcate lessons on the life of Jesus from His conception, birth, preaching the message of salvation, His passion, resurrection till Mama Mary’s reward of being crowned in Heaven. Its like daily going thru the 4 gospels. Bro Ben then asked me if I know how to say and lead the Holy Rosary. I answered, “Yes.” He asked me if I know the Litany of the Virgin Mary of Loreto by heart, and I answered, “No.” Ben stated: In the Loreto Litany, there are 52 ejaculations; which are different titles attributed to honor Mama Mary.

My Orientation as a New Devotee of the Santo Niño

My Orientation as a New Devotee of the Santo Niño

I started to pray the 15 mysteries of the Rosary daily, learn & memorize the Litany as well, and find out what the ejaculation-titles to Mama Mary signify. It was very difficult initially especially when one has to pray the complete 3 Rosary mysteries/ litanies on your knees--the Bulusan way. I asked Nonoy Po and Mentor Ben why so much prayers. Ben answered that he wants to get straight to Heaven where it‘s “air conditioned” and does not want to pass by purgatory where his sins had to be painfully cleansed by fire. So Bro. Ben would rather pray on his knees now so as not to suffer later. Nonoy Po explained that prayers are the means to becoming closer to God, expiating or doing penance for one’s sins, growing in sanctity (being devoid of sin) and holiness (turning into being Christ-like), and enjoying God’s graces in heaven and even here on earth.

Learning and getting to know the Litany by heart also included learning the Prayer to Lord of Pardon (LOP), Prayer of the Wounds on the Shoulder, and Prayer before a Crucifix; that are all part & parcel of the daily Bulusan prayers. (The last LOP prayer carries a plenary indulgence when said after receiving Holy Communion in the state of sanctifying grace) As an outcome of my Rosary & Litany research & reflections, I developed the habit of daily reading the Bible. (I have to emphasize the importance of having a good Bible that one can cross-reference between the Old & New Testaments in doing this.) I started the N.B-N.B. (No Bible-No Breakfast) diet to address my expanding spiritual awareness and thirst for knowledge of Jesus & God, that seemed to have soared to a hyper mode. It took me more than a month before I could lead the Rosary/ litany in Bulusan Chapel and another month to learn all the Lord of Pardon prayers. After more than 30 years as a Nonoy Po devotee, the NB-NB diet is how I start my day and the Rosary /Litany is part of how I enjoy God’s love & graces here on earth.

My third orientation lesson came when Brother Ben pulled me aside and asked me, “How often do I go Mass?” I answered him, “3 to 4 times a week, enumerating Sunday, Tuesday & Friday-Bulusan Mass days, Wednesday or Saturday.” “Good,” he remarked, ”But, Nonoy Po wants His devotees to go to Mass everyday”. Nonoy Po stated that when a devotee goes only to a Sunday Mass and receives communion, he/she receives a certain amount of graces like protection from the devil’s temptations, guidance from the Holy Spirit on spiritual/ moral quandaries, blessings in temporal needs, and just enough graces to want him/her to

come back next Sunday and receive Holy Communion and its concomitant graces. But when a devotee who goes to Mass & receives Holy Communion twice or thrice a week, receives double or triple the amount of graces that a Sunday Mass-Communicant receives. So, if he/she goes to Mass & Communion daily, he/she will get seven times more protection, more guidance, more blessings than one who goes to Mass & Communion once a week. He/she receives the maximum graces one can get from going to daily Holy Mass & Communion.” So the more one goes to Holy Mass & Communion, one receives more spiritual & temporal blessings.

Nonoy Po explained in the Manifestation Room that the Holy Mass is celebrated to honor and glorify God, to thank Him for all the graces bestowed on us individually and collectively given to the whole world, and to obtain His divine graces and blessings. Aside from all of these, there are a lot of great things that the Holy Mass does for Christians. At every Holy Mass, one receives the Word, and the Body & Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, spiritual food that will nourish our mind, body & soul, and spirit.

At the start of the Holy Mass, one confesses to God his/her sins and asks for His forgiveness and mercy. During the Lord’s Prayer, again one asks the Father for forgiveness for one’s sins as he/she forgives those who sinned against him. And before receiving the Body & Blood of Christ, one humbles oneself by declaring that one is not worthy to receive the Lord Jesus, but by one’s faith on His Word, one’s sins are healed. In the Holy Mass, one asks for God’s mercy & pardon three times that one can diminish the temporal punishment due to your sins, more or less, according to one’s humility, contrition, fervor and faith in God’s goodness to forgive & expiate one’s sins. In the Holy Mass, the Lord supplies for many of one’s negligence and omissions by forgiving all the venial sins one have never confessed. One can shorten your purgatory by every Holy Mass & Communion by receiving partial or plenary indulgences.

By assisting devoutly at Holy Mass, by actively responding to the Mass prayers, by joyously singing the praise-songs rendered to God, our Creator-Savior-Advocate, by offering one’s mass intentions for God’s greater glory, and by praying for one another’s intentions, one render the greatest homage to God and to His son, Jesus Christ. By going to Holy Mass & receiving Communion daily, one is changed to be

Page 19: 34th Feastday Celebration Souvenir Program

Christ-like and the power of Satan’s temptations over you is seriously diminished by the maximum protection graces God bestows on you. One receives the inspirational graces, divine gifts & charisms, and the maximum guidance from the Holy Spirit.

Brother Ben concluded my orientation with the importance of going to Holy Mass & receiving Communion daily. For more than 30years going to Mass & receiving Communion, I daily discover something new in my spiritual thirst for knowledge about God, my Creator-Savior-Advocate. It is become a continuing education by scores of priests, monsignors & bishops instructing me on the God’s ways of love, goodness, justice and peace. I have receive so much of God’s graces (including that lady-date-now my partner/wife for 30 years), rewards and honors; only to learn that He gives me just enough to make sure I

My Orientation as a New Devotee of the Santo Niño

don’t stray away from Him and to know that I just want His love, awareness of His presence as to fear being separated from Him due to sin. I fear Him—knowing that to lose Him is the worse thing that can happen to me. To see & feel His love in every aspect of my life is Joy--like being shown what bliss it is to be with Him in Heaven. God is great! This is why I serve Him as a lay minister and a perdonista.

This was my orientation as a devotee of Nonoy Po. This is why the Santo Niño of Bulusan wants His devotees to make their daily presence at the Holy Mass felt, to receive the Holy Communion as often as they can—preferably daily, to honor his Blessed Mother Mary with the complete rosary & her attendant litany of title-praises, and constantly keep in touch with Him by prayers, especially His Chaplet. 9

l At the hour of death, the masses you have heard will be your greatest consolation. Every mass will go with you to judgment and plead your pardon.

l At every mass, you can diminish the temporal punishment due to your sins, more or less, according to your fervor.

l Assisting devoutly at mass, you render to the Sacred Humanity of our Lord the greatest homage.

l He supplies for many of your negligence and omissions.

l He forgives you all the venial sins which you never confessed.

l The power of Satan over you is diminished.

l You afford the souls of purgatory the greatest possible relief.

l One mass heard during your life will be of more benefit to you than many heard for you after death.

l You are preserved from many dangers any misfortunes which would otherwise befallen you.

l You shorten your purgatory with every mass you’ve heard.

l You receive the priest’s blessings, which our Lord ratifies in heaven.

l You kneel amidst a multitude of holy angels, who are present at the adorable sacrifice with reverential awe.

l You are blessed in temporal goods and affairs.

l Every time we assist at mass we should besides our other intentions offer it in honor of the saint of the day.

l When we hear mass and offer the holy sacrifice in honor of a particular saint or angel, thanking God for favors He bestowed on him, we afford him a great degree of honor, joy and happiness and draw his special love and protection on us.

The Tremendous Value of the Mass

Sto. NiñoSong Story

One’s immediate attention caught by those who first attend the Mass at the Bulusan Shrine is the rendition of the song “Awit kay Santo

Nino” sung by the devotess and church goers after the communion segment of the Holy Mass. Everybody sings with much gusto with simultaneous clapping of hands in every beat. The song is very lively and upbeat! It makes anyone feel very enthusiastic to join the whole congregation into singing.

Have you ever thought where the song originated? Maybe it is your first time to hear it. Have you ever wondered who composed the lyrics of the song and made the melody? I guess nobody really knows except probably some of the devotees of the Sto. Niño of Bulusan.

Did you know that it was Nonoy Po himself who composed the song - both the lyrics and tune during the early years of His mission? The Sto. Niño song was actually copyrighted under the National Library. You can check the veracity of this claim with the National Library catalogue.

As Nonoy Po narrated: One night He saw the need to have a song for His mission to be sung during the mass at His chapel and during the propagation of the Lord of Pardon. While Nanay Glo was in trance, Nonoy Po made her half awake so that she could remember the lyrics and the tune. In a short time, and thru His miracle, Nanay Glo memorized the lyrics and the tunes.

The following day, she asked the daughter of Sister Isang Melma Abran who is playing the piano, to put the notes into writing. Under the supervision of Nanay Gloria who first heard the song during her trance, the Santo Niño Song was created. Papers were finalized and they made the application for copyright at the National Library and it was easily granted.

Today, the Santo Niño song is still sung in every Mass at the Bulusan Shrine and during Lord of Pardon gatherings all around the world. The song is an anthem of Nonoy Po’s unwavering love to his devotees – that in every adversity in life we must always remember that God will never abandon us. We just have to put our trust and faith in Him and He will do the rest for us.

The lyrics is very majestic and very appropriate:

Ang ating puso, Ang ating diwa/Ating ialay ng kusa/Sa ating poong Diyos/Tanging siya’y maygawa/Sa lahat ng mga bansa/Magpasalamat tayo’t manalig/Sa ating Diyos ng pag-ibig/Tayo’y umasa na kahit siya’y paslit/Hinding-hindi ka iwawaglit

The next time we hear the Santo Niño song, we must join into singing with much fervor because only God can compose such song with wordings that inspire everyone. As we all chant, One More Time! 9
