PRINCIPAL’S REPORT—WEEK 10

Term 3 has been filled with many fine achievements by the

students of Armidale City Public School. From the individual

and group work done in classrooms, to the individual and

group efforts in extra-curricular activities the students of

Armidale City Public School have demonstrated their

outstanding ability to be high level participants in all they

do. At assembly this week over 110 awards were presented

to students and this is evidence of the great work our

students do. I would like to acknowledge the hard work and

professionalism of the staff at Armidale City Public School

and thank them for their ongoing dedication to the students

of the school and look forward to working with them for

final term of 2014.

As part of our school planning process for the future

teachers will be seeking parent responses to some questions

relating to Armidale City Public School at the beginning of

next term. It is important that we get a wide variety of

input from parents at our school so that we can plan

effectively and thoroughly for the future. Our school plan

for 2015 and beyond will be compiled in collaboration with

our School Council, P&C and other interested parents.

Teachers will be asking questions relating to Armidale City

Public School and asking for honest responses. If any

parent would like to discuss this input further, please

contact the office.

We are currently planning for 2015 and it is important we

know which students are intending to come to our school for

2015. If any parents are wishing to enrol their child for

2015 Kindergarten, please let the school office know as soon

as possible if you have not already done so. Letters have

been sent out this week to all prospective students for

Kindergarten in 2015 based on enrolment forms we

currently have.

NAPLAN results were sent home in Week 7 for students in

Years 3 and 5 who completed NAPLAN last term. If any

parent wishes to discuss their child’s NAPLAN information,

please contact your child’s teacher.

Well done, to our touch football team, who played against

Moree East Public School on the Armidale City Public School

oval yesterday in Round 5 of the PSSA state knockout. The

match was played in great spirit by both teams and the boys

from Moree East deserved their win. Thank you to Mrs

Schultz for coaching the team and to Mr Widders for his

help.

Last Thursday the police community liaison officer came and

talked with all Stage 2 students about protocols for using

the internet, cyber safety and some of the issues students

should be aware of associated with playing games such as

Minecraft online. This talk was part of the Child Protection

lessons that have been taking place across all classes

throughout Term 3. The community liaison officer will be

running a session for parents on Wednesday 6 November at

6pm focusing on cyber safety and internet use. Further

details on this session will be in newsletters early next

term.

SPORTS NEWS Congratulations, to the boys’ basketball team and Mrs

Docksey, on their State knockout win. We are extremely

proud of you! Two years in a row as State Champions is an

outstanding achievement.

Congratulations, to Malakye Cook, who is in Lismore this

week with the North West team, competing at the State

PSSA Boys Softball Championships. We look forward to

hearing the team’s results.

Well done, to Marvin Palad, who will be joining the North

West team at the State PSSA Athletics Championships

early next term. Marvin will compete in the Senior Boys

200m and 100m events.

The boys’ touch football team ended their run in the PSSA

knockout after going down to Moree East, 7-1. It was a

gallant effort from the boys but unfortunately they were up

against a much stronger team on the day. It has been a

fantastic to progress this far. Congratulations to the boys

and their coach Mrs Schultz.

This week’s winning house is Oxley.
