TU - 1 REV: 02-09 Turbochargers Turbochargers * Important: Turbocharger core with air-to-air style flange on the compressor casing must be returned with a protective cap on the flattened outlet flange (see photo). Core returned with non-operational damage to the flange surface (see photo) will be acceptable under the Damaged Flange (DF) core option. Please note that the protective cap must be removed for proper core inspection. Order protective cap part number 3652437 and 3652453. Core will be accepted for exchange under the Full Core Acceptance Program if visual inspection indicates the following: 1. Core is complete and not disassembled. 2. Core is a part number offered for exchange by Cummins. 3. Core that is damaged by non-operational causes such as rough handling, fire, improper removal or improper protection during storage is not acceptable. Turbocharger core with the air-to-air style aftercooling returned with non-operational damage to the compressor casing flange are not acceptable as good core and may be applied under the Damaged Flange (DF) core option. 4. Rust that occurs on exterior surfaces of components exposed to weather conditions from normal operating conditions is acceptable. Interior surfaces and components, such as rods, or any machined surface can only have light flash rust. Heavy rust due to improper storage is not acceptable. Competitive turbocharger core (Example 4LHR style Switzer) is no longer acceptable for exchange for a Cummins ReCon Turbocharger.
