Localenvironmental factorsvarywidely,thereforeBFCdoesnotguaranteethatitsprod-uctwillperforminanydefinedmanner inanyspecificenvironment.Damagetocoatingduetoshippingandinstallationistobeexpectedandmust be adequately touched up or repaintedimmediately after occurrence by installer tometoriginalspecificationstandards.

PART 2 - Products2.01 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERSThe ornamental fencing system shall be manufacturedby:

2.02 MATERIALSA. Pickets, rails, and posts shall be manufacturedfromtubingmeetingtherequire-mentsofASTMA513orA500GradeB.B.Solidsteelbars,flatplatesandshapesshallbemanufactured fromsteelconforming to therequirementsofASTMA36.C. Pickets for gates shall be of the samesize and style as those in the fence panels.Framesforgatesshallbeofsufficientsizeand thickness to provide adequate support without sag. Adjustable trussing may berequired.Gate hardware shall be supplied bythemanufacturerandshallbeofsufficientsizeandcapacitytosupportthegatespecified.2.03 FABRICATION - GeneralA. Steel used in themanufacturing of panels,gates and posts shall conform to the ASTMstandards specified and shall be new primematerial.B. Panels, gates and flanged posts shall beof welded construction. No wire rods, screwsor rivets shall be accepted to attach picketsto rails. Layout andwelding shall be done byexperienced craftsmen.Welds shall be madeby the gasmetal arcmethod and welds shallbe neat, clean and of the sizes indicated onthe drawings. All flush welds shall be groundsmooth.C. After fabrication panels, gates and postsshall be power washed in a phosphoric acidsolution,rinsedanddried.

PART 3 - Execution 3.01 PREPARATION A.Thecontractorshalllayoutthenewfenceinaccordancewith the fence construction plans,shopdrawings,andallapplicablerequirementsandcodes.B.Thecontractorshallverifyanygradechang-esorsurfaceirregularities.C. Discrepancies between the approvedshop drawings and field conditions must beapprovedbythearchitectorengineerpriortoproceedingwiththeinstallation.3.02 INSTALLATIONA.Fencepostsshallbesetplumbandlevelatspaces shown on the drawings. Footings shallbeof thesizesindicated.Postcapsshallbeasindicatedonthedrawings.B.Fencepanelsshallbeweldedorboltedtotheposts.Fieldweldingofrailtothepostshallbeacomplete360degree(all foursides)andshallbe the size indicated on the drawings.Weldsshallbecleanedandcoatedwithaprimerthesame day the welding is performed. Boltedconnectionsshalluseboltsandtabsofthesizeindicatedonthedrawings.Aftertighteningbolt,threadsshallbepeened.C. Gates shall be installed plumb and leveland shall be the sizes and style indicated onthe drawings. The contractor shall install anygate stops thatmaybe required.Anypadlockprovisions or strikes shall be field attachedto assure alignment. The contractor shall lubricate the hinges, rollers and other gatehardwareafterinstallation.D. All field welds and any abrasions to factory coatings shall be thoroughly cleaned,re-primed and touched up by the contractorwithpaintof thesamequality,colorandglossofthatusedbythemanufacturer.3.03 CLEANING A.Thecontractorshallcleanjobsiteofexcessmaterials.B. Post hole excavations shall be scattereduniformly away from the posts or removed asdirected. C. Concrete splatter shall be cleaned fromexposedposts.
