1 Introduction
ED312TT2 is a reflective electrophoretic E Ink technology display module based on
active matrix TFT substrate. It has 31.2" active area with 2560 x 1440 pixels, the
display is capable to display images at 16 gray levels (4 bits) depending on the display
controller and the associated waveform file it used.
LVDS Driving Board is an E Ink display controller for E Ink panel. The data interface
(LVDS) is comparable with normal LCD module. It could be developed a new
application with same system structure like LCD. LVDS Driving Board only support
1280x720@60Hz resolution with 2 channels LVDS input. LVDS Driving Board will
re-process the image to fit the resolution of 31.2’’ E Ink panel.
31.2" display panel is suitable for various applications, e.g. bus stop, museum etc…

2 Hardware Guide
This section describes the hardware setup of the 31.2” EPD display demo kit.
(1) Hardware Requirements
This demo kit should needs some items as following:
1. LVDS Driving Board
2. 31.2” E Ink display (EPD).
3. FFC cable
4. A/D Board or SOC platform with LVDS output interface
5. 12V power adaptor

(2) Demo Kit Hardware Description
31.2 EPD display (ED312TT2) demo kit includes an FPGA driving board and an E Ink
display adapter board. The FPGA driving board and E Ink display adapter board are
connected via a 50 pin FFC. The LVDS interface on the EVK is for image data
receiving. The source of LVDS signal would be from A/D Board or SOC platform which
support LVDS signal output. The FPGA driving board and A/D Board or SOC platform
are connected via a LVDS cable. FPGA driving board receives the image data from
LVDS interface and display on E Ink panel. There is a power circuit on LVDS Driving
Board. The 12V power could be input from LVDS Driving Board or from LVDS cable.
Note:Only allow one power path input for system (12V power from LVDS Driving Board or
from LVDS cable), otherwise it will cause great damage for the system.

(2) How to operate the system
LVDS Driving Board only support standard 2 channels LVDS signal input. There is no
others control pin for LVDS Driving Board. LVDS Driving Board supports pattern mode
for E Ink display. Pattern mode is 16 Gray levels with refresh update and image
algorithm. Display mode will be auto enabled by auto mode selection function. This
function is based on image content to select the display mode. If image content is
static now and next image is changed, LVDS Driving Board will use pattern mode to
make a full refresh update to show the new pattern on E Ink display.
Note:
1. Lower LVDS frame rate
Standard video frame rate (60Hz) from LVDS signal is too fast for EPD. It gets higher
power consumption for system. If the speed of LVDS signal could be slowed down, it
will get better power consumption.
2. Source video signal should be pure clear video signal for LVDS TCON
Auto display mode selection is based on pure digital image signal. Unstable source
video signal will cause auto mode selection fail. Analog video signal (VGA) is not
allowed. High compression rate steaming video is not allowed, too. Only allow picture
display.
3. AD Board should disable the LCD dithering function or any image processing
function which will cause the static image data different in every frame.
4. Don’t support handwriting mode
