What is Brainstorming
Brainstorming is a powerful technique used generallyas a group, to generate as many ideas as possible on aparticular subject.
The sessions are most effective to generate a lot ofideas in a short timeframe. The purpose is to create anendless flow of energy between group members sothat each Idea may spark another within someoneelse.
It also solve problems, motivates and develops teams.Brainstorming motivates because it involves membersof a team in bigger management issues, and it gets ateam working together.

All ideas will later be reviewed and
synchronized. Not all ideas will be viable or
usable.
The general idea is that a group will generate
more ideas at a higher level of creativity than
an individual can.
ITs a great way to generate ideas on how to
solve a problem and decision alternatives.

Nominal Group Technique
Nominal group technique is the another
type of Brainstorming in which the
individuals are given a shot on trying it on
their own before contributing ideas.
After data and ideas are collected they may be
organized and prioritized by such methods as
The card technique.

Alex Osborns Four rules of
Brainstorming
Criticism is ruled out:- Adverse judgment of ideas mustbe withheld until later.
Free wheeling is welcomed:- The wilder the idea, the
better. It is easier to tame down than to think up. Quality is wanted:- The greater the number of ideas,
the more the likehood of winners.
Combination and improvement are sought:- In
addition to contributing ideas of their own, participants should suggest how ideas of other can beturned in to better ideas, or how two or more ideascan be joined in to still another idea.

THINKING
Thinking Outside Ourselves
Osborn apparently took inspiration forbrainstorming from an ancient Hindu techniquecalled Prai-Barshana meaning questioningoutside yourself.
If we havent an idea in our head, we often saywere stuck the word is apt. We are locked in tothe mental patterns that govern our everydaythinking. Osborn, indeed called this stage
Functional fixation more recently, we havecome to call these patterns mindsets orparadigms.

What if ?
Why not ?
What association
can we find ?
Will it work ?
Can we do it ?
Has it been tried
before ?

We find it difficult not to Judge ideas . We are
taught from an early age to argue and to
critical . Ask anybody what they think about
something almost inevitably they will begin
by finding fault with it.
watch out for comments such as :- That doesnt make sense .
It wont work .
We tried that before and it failed.
Totally impractical.
Too complicated.
You will never get people to change.
