We have noticed that when parents come to see the Educational Support ladies, some of them leave their children unattended in the Grade Nought playground. 30 May 2018

Dear Parents

Half term is already upon us. With the amount of

coughs, colds and flu the children have had I think it is

just as well that we are all going to have a break from

each other.

Thank you for your support of the CANSA Sprayathon

on Friday. Beaulieu preparatory School raised

R10,152.90. There was a lovely vibe in the BeNS kitchen

as our little ones had their hair sprayed. The mums and

dad who were here to do the spraying did a wonderful

job – thank you. Pictured above are some of our Grade

Nought children with their designer patterns.

A big thanks must also go to Bianca Cranston who

donated her hair to the CANSA association – that was an

amazing thing to do!

Once again I have received complaints about parents

not taking care of their children in the car park. Please

be aware of the danger of children and motor cars

“meeting” in the car park. Accidents happen so quickly.

I have been asking the children if their mums and dads

are reading their library books to them. It saddens me

to hear a little one saying “My Mum and Dad don’t have

time to read to me.” We all lead such busy lives and I

know it is not always convenient but please try to read

to your child whenever possible.

I am attaching an article called “Rhymers are

Readers” for you to read. Our Grade Noughts are

given a new nursery rhyme to learn each week. The

reason for this is very clear in the article. Please

take the time to read it.

It was with great excitement that we all gathered

last Friday for the draw for the children’s mountain

bike that was part of the Beaulieu MTB Challenge.

The excitement and joy on Lugisile’s little face

when it was confirmed that he had won a brand

new bicycle was enough to make all our hearts

sing. Thank you to Danette Green who came to

help with the draw.

I was so proud of all our BeNS children and their

parents who participated and completed their

races.

We have noticed that when parents come to see the

Educational Support ladies, some of them leave

their children unattended in the Grade Nought

playground. This concerns us because accidents

can happen so easily when children are

unsupervised on playground equipment. Please do

not leave children in any of the playgrounds

without a supervising adult present.

School SleepOut™ and Star Gazing

When we registered for The School Sleepout ™, we were asked to

choose a school motto and we have chosen “Reach for the Stars”.

I have found a group of young astronomers who have agreed to

come on the same night as The School Sleepout ™, to teach

children about finding and looking at planets, stars and galaxies

with their telescopes. It promises to be a fun evening at the very

low cost of R20.00 + an item of stationery per child. One adult

per child will be free.

The tickets will be available from your class teachers after half

term.

Please be reminded that our Class Mums should not be contacted

for issues of a personal matter; e.g. to report your child being

absent or late, that your child has lost something, to arrange or

change an appointment with a school staff member. Mrs Pinker

is your contact for all these kind of matters – 011 468 2830.

Enjoy the break from school!

Kind regards

Bobby Bain
