From the principal’s desk:

Welcome back to a new term.

I trust everyone had a happy

and healthy break and that

we are ready for another busy

term at Baulko.

Year 11 start the term with two

weeks of assessments. We wish

them well. Year 12 finished

their assessments at the end of

last term and now await their

results.

Year 12 have now been issued

with their jerseys so are now

proudly showing off their

nicknames and proof that

they are indeed in Year 12,

their final year of schooling.

All students were issued with

Stewart House envelopes late

last term and asked to donate

$2 to this worthy cause.

Stewart House is located at

Freshwater, by the beach. It is

solely supported by public

schools in NSW.

Disadvantaged children are

brought from all over NSW to

Stewart House for medical,

dental and social reasons to

enjoy a two week stay by the

seaside. It is a most worthy

cause and I urge all students

to donate a gold coin to this

charity. cont P2

Parents are reminded that the drop

off zone for the bus bay is at the end

of the bus bay, not where the

fencing stops. To stop earlier is a

traffic offence and local council

rangers are likely to fine parents

dropping off students in the wrong

part of the bus bay. At the same

time, parents are not permitted to

enter the car park except for

dropping off students who have

mobility issues. These rules are for the

safety of all of our students.

Welcome to Ms Kristy Pugliano

(photo below) who has joined us as

our new Head Teacher of Creative

and Performing Arts, replacing Mr

Lance Hopper who retired at the

end of last year.

If the tragic events in Sri Lanka

recently had a direct impact on any

of our families please advise Ms

Terryanne Fletcher, our Head

Teacher of Wellbeing so that we can

ensure the health and wellbeing of

all our students.

It is pleasing to note that our two

Science laboratories are now back

in use after their refurbishment.

Thank you to the P&C for their

assistance in funding the

refurbishment. We also have P2

back in use after its refurbishment.

Congratulations to :

Krystal Jessen who won a Bronze

medal in the 50m Backstroke in

the 12- 15 year old Multi Class

event at the recent State

Swimming championships

2019 National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN)

Tuesday 14th May to Friday 17th May will see students from Years 7 and 9 across Australia take part in the testing for the

National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy.

The NAPLAN test is another way of finding out what students can and cannot do, so that future programs can help them.

It should be noted that there is no pass/fail mark in the tests, the NAPLAN tests is purely an indication of what an

individual student can do.

As the test is marked mainly by computer the test must be completed using a pencil and an eraser, under no circumstances

should a student use pens or liquid paper. We advise students to bring to the exam:

at least two sharpened 2B pencils, not mechanical pencils such as Pacers

a pencil sharpener, with something to collect the shavings in

an eraser

a calculator for the Numeracy Test

some quiet activity to go on with if they should finish early, all other equipment for the test will be supplied.

The program of events for NAPLAN is as follows:
