A WORD FROM THE COMMANDER LEROY FURMAN AMERICAN LEGION POST113 MAY 2016 SOUND OFF MAY 17th th IS COMING UPON US FAST! DOES IT HOLD ANY SIGNIFICANCE FOR YOU? This is not a quiz, it is a reminder. May 17th is the day a new slate of officers are to be elected at American Legion Post 113. There are notices posted throughout the building. However, there are many of you who do not or cannot frequent the Post and this will serve as a notice for you so that you can cast your vote. Your vote does count and it very well could be a deciding vote! Everything is ready to go with the All Veterans Memorial Park. The plans are to break ground sometime in May/June 2016 and it is supposed to be completed in the first part of November 2016. The plan for construction is going to allow for expansion of the park. We will keep you posted on progress using the Sound Off, newspapers and postings throughout the Post. When the project starts it will undoubtedly cause some inconveniences. Remember patience is a virtue. The finished product will be well worth the wait! A memorial service was held at the Post for Bud Prentiss. Bud was well known and we had planned for a minimum of 100 attendees. The turnout was lower than we planned for. The Post 113 Veterans Honor Guard performed in an outstanding man- ner and the Post 113 Auxiliary supported the service in their fine manner which included refreshments. A thank you to all who took part in the service in various ways. A Memorial Day service will be held at the Post on Sunday, May 30th (which is the actual Memorial Day Observance-not the federal observance on Monday). Please attend & show your support! God bless all of you and your families, all the members of the organizations under our roof and their families, all the members of the organizations that keep us safe and secure in our com- munities and all of our service members serving all over the world, many of whom are in harm’s way. MAY 17thth IS COMING UPON US FAST!

DOES IT HOLD ANY SIGNIFICANCE FOR YOU?

This is not a quiz, it is a reminder. May 17th is the day a new slate of officers are to be elected at American Legion Post

113. There are notices posted throughout the building. However, there are many of you who do not or cannot frequent the Post

and this will serve as a notice for you so that you can cast your vote. Your vote does count and it very well could be a deciding

vote!

Everything is ready to go with the All Veterans Memorial Park. The plans are to break ground sometime in May/June 2016

and it is supposed to be completed in the first part of November 2016. The plan for construction is going to allow for expansion

of the park. We will keep you posted on progress using the Sound Off, newspapers and postings throughout the Post. When the

project starts it will undoubtedly cause some inconveniences. Remember patience is a virtue. The finished product will be well

worth the wait!

A memorial service was held at the Post for Bud Prentiss. Bud was well known and we had planned for a minimum of 100

attendees. The turnout was lower than we planned for. The Post 113 Veterans Honor Guard performed in an outstanding man-

ner and the Post 113 Auxiliary supported the service in their fine manner which included refreshments. A thank you to all who

took part in the service in various ways.

A Memorial Day service will be held at the Post on Sunday, May 30th (which is the actual Memorial Day Observance-not the

federal observance on Monday). Please attend & show your support! God bless all of you and your families, all the members of

the organizations under our roof and their families, all the members of the organizations that keep us safe and secure in our com-

munities and all of our service members serving all over the world, many of whom are in harm’s way.

REMEMBER POST ELECTIONS ARE COMING UP!

God Bless America!

When I lived in Michigan , the saying was April showers bring May flowers. In Florida we have beautiful flowers all year long! That's paradise! Our friends are leaving us for the sum-mer, but they will return & bring more friends. That is what helps make our Legion great! Have a safe and healthy summer. I would like to welcome new members: David Sloan, Jason Jaros, Robert King, Robert Sidorski, Allen Brown & new dual member Bill Vanderbilt. Our next meeting is May 12th at 5:00 p.m. That is our election night for officers. Please come and vote! I am asking any of our SAL members who volunteer at any Post or community service to put your activi-ty, hours and name on a paper & give it to the bartender to place in the “SAL” box. This is important, as we receive credit by the state. I know a lot of you do, but some of you do things, that I don't know about. So please keep us posted as to when you volunteer. Thank you!!! Enjoy your time at the Legion,

Have a great month at the Legion!
