It’ssosimple, right?Buyerswillnotnoticewhat’smissingfromaroom, buttheywillnoticewhatfitsawkwardly!Inmyhomestagingcompany,BeyondThe Stage Homes, we do not own any dressers in our home staginginventory–mostofthetime, inhomestaging, thesearenotnecessarytothe overall design of the room, and are just going to fit awkwardly in aspace. Instead, we will sometimes use a console table to fill a perfect“dresserspace”,butotherwise, wesimplyskipit.
I know what you’re going to say – “But won’t someone notice that thedresser is missing?” – NOPE! They will however notice if it doesn’t fitproperly.Thistipisespeciallyusefulwhenevaluationwhatfurnitureshouldstay, and which should be removed, from a room. Consider removinganythingthatisnotnecessarytothehomestagingdesign, suchasdressers, extrashelvingunits, andevenTV’s.
Basketsmakeeverythinglookpretty&organized
Use baskets EVERYWHERE! When I say everywhere, I mean absolutelyeverywhere! In the laundry room, closets, pantry – anywhere. These aregreat for hiding clutter on bookshelves, while filling and styling the shelfspace.
Want to know my favourite staging hack? Hide unsightly cables andelectronicswithabasket, andcoverwithablanketorpillow–now, insteadof seeing a mess of cords, buyers will instead see a blanket or pillowstorage basket! (Disclaimer – use caution if placing electronics such asrouters, etc in a basket – these often need to vent, and should only becoveredforshortperiodsoftimeduringshowings).
Ifitdoesn’taddtothedécor,removeit
When evaluating which items should stay or go, ask yourself the simplequestion–“Doesthisitemaddanythingtotheoveralldécorofthespace?”If theanswer is “no”, then thatmeans that the item is likelya functionalitem, andisnotneededforthepurposeofsellingthehome, soitshouldberemoved.
