Happy Independence day

Editorial :

Dear All,

On this cusp of 70th anniversary of Independence Day, let me greet all of you a Happy Independence Day. You all, along with me will be an authentic part of the narrative history of Independent India. Those of you, who like me have the memories of the school in fifties, college in sixties/ seventies , would have seen mind boggling changes that have overcome our Nation. We were fortunate to see it all & need to share it with the new who are busy taking selfies & posting their meal photograph on Facebook. Proud to be an Indian & take part in Nation Building phase with all it’s pain & glory.

IIP dipped to a 4 year low in June since manufacturers reduced inventories ahead of GST roll out in July. All of us had a declining & uncertain predictability of business since “Notebandhi”. The experts say that this one time shock will reverse as soon as the new tax regime settles down. Pundits validate the belief by indicating 15% rise in sales of passenger cars in July. So, the better days are forthcoming & lets hope that the Pundits are not wrong! Good thing about all the cumulative effect is, the timing provides 8 months in this fiscal year to recover from the glitches.

Against this background, I wanted to share the 4 FEI bright spots in this quarter till date.

Auditors have approved Fuji Electric India Private Limited for ISO9001:2015 certification for : “Manufacture & Services of AC Drives and provide After-sales services of products related to Instrumentation and Control”. Our manufacturing team received the prestigious Global Certification of Merit award for mass production of LV Invertor. Our Marketing Team received the prestigious Global Certificate of Merit award for implementing the Mu-kand Project for Port Crane Stupendous success @ the two exhibitions in Mumbai & Hyderbad

I’m sure that all these events coupled with your support will help all of us to achieve our respective targets!

FEI is proud today of it’s 85 channel partners in Market Access Program whose demographic coverage is as per the table below.

Out of the 85, in our system today, 69 are in the domain of Drive & Automation while 16 are in Instrumentation discipline. Nine more Channel Partners are in the wings. Their papers are under process & we hope that they will be in our program before the end of 2nd Quarter. It provides me a huge pleasure to represent the commu-nity which provides 90% of our business.

The success of the program depends on the quality --- skill set of the participants as well as the required quan-tity for market coverage without affecting other community members. Obviously the success of the program depends on the engagement level of the participants. In my short span as the person in charge of the program, we have trained more than 22 channel partners to keep them GST ready & business ready. For challenge of GST implementation and to help our Channel Partners in the challenging Q1 period ,we modified our traditional Channel Policy, to bring in incentive for disciplined business and provided an extra 0.25% incentive for chan-nels who met Q1 target. Total five channels benefitted for the this add on program.

Further, various activities that have been completed are :-

FY 16-17 Incentive score card shared & disbursed to the eligible Channels Q1 individual score card , though dismal for most of the CP’s have been shared Channel Partner New certificates and sandwich boards completed & on it’s way out New Mini and ACE special warranty program launched & procedures implemented Channel Partner updation on our website Channel Financing launched & kick started

FEI kick- started Channel Financing Scheme in August first week with a double digit channel partner count. Kudos to all the exclusive team members. The purpose of this scheme is to help you with a smooth cash flow situation & to optimise your monetary resources. Channel financing services ensures timely availability of finance for your working capital at a reasonable cost, which means a healthy and continuous growth of your business with FEI.Few of the benefits for participating members are -

Steady and cheaper fund source for purchasing FE material Cash flow and working capital improvement Partners can increase purchase power by boosting the sales Ease of documentation and approval procedure High service and delivery standards Partners can increase profitability Better disciplined business & inventory management

Few qualification criteria and presanction documents are as mentioned below: -

Bank will set up the limit of each CP based on eligibility criteria’s Minimum purchase of defined value with a credit limit of max Rs 20 million Positive net worth & Cash profit for last 2 years

Payment track with FEIPL: - NIL default

Dealer/Distributor/Promoter/Director not appearing in RBI Defaulter - list/BIFR/CIBIL defaulter list, any other financial performance negative list Dealer/Distributor to be located in Kotak Mahindra Bank branch location Last 2 years audited financials Basic financials like Total Sales and PAT required for FY16 and Projection for FY’17 Past 6 months purchase from FEIPL Company KYC & Directors/promoters KYC Docs Details of borrowings and outstanding from banks/NBFC’s Ownership structure of the firm Any other Docs as prescribed by the bank

FEI took lot of efforts in meeting the banks stringent requirement and to make the registration. There is a cost involved in terms of running the program. FEI bears all the major cost for paying a one-time dealer program. FEI also thanks the participating community to share a part of the initial cost & the recurring cost every year.

I’m certain that this program for the participating members will provide a tremendous impetus for growth & seeing that there will be more willing members who would be aggressive to meet the qualifying requirement & the program size will have a quantum jump next year. Plan your business , identify the right inventory & plan a part of the available fund for stocking the SPF & New Micro to be the early birds.

GST—the Success & Hurdles: Ashes Nandi

GST being a "disruptive change", there are bound to be some teething troubles which will have to be re-solved quickly to ensure that the momentum of the operation is not impacted. FEI GST committee exuded its confidence of resolving teething problems of GST implementation whenever it occurred.

• As planned, FEI has successfully started GST Invoicing with effect from 10th July 2017 with back-end activ-ities of GRN and re-booking of open OSSO with GST compliance. PO and Order Acknowledgement are also configured with GST compliance.• Existing Vendors and Customers master have been successfully updated with necessary GST input. • Existing Item masters have been successfully mapped with HSN Code and with the GST rates applicable for the HSN Code. Services have been mapped with SAC codes.• Systems now allow to create new Item Master, ven-dor Master, Customer Masters, PO, OSSO, OA with GST compliance.

FEI is now checking various Registers, Ledgers and Re-ports in terms of flow of GST amount and relevant in-formation to ensure that figures and information are captured correctly. FEI is committed to accomplish this job by end of this month before Financial Reporting is taken up.

Compliance is the biggest concern. GST being a radical change from the current indirect tax regime, a proper system must be in place for a smooth transition. The first major concern is that compliances are not getting reduced. Every taxpayer, small or large, has to file 36 returns every year for one location. It may be quite hectic for small scale enterprises like us to comply. Also, the cost of compliance will be high. We will have to file separate returns for Integrated GST (IGST), Cen-tral GST (CGST) and State GST (SGST).

Admitting that GST implementation has not been glitch free, Revenue Authorities will go slow in under-taking enforcement actions under GST for the first six months as they want industry to settle down into the new indirect tax regime. Moreover, everyone in the Holistic system is in the learning phase. In spite of the constraints, we are sure of living upto your expecta-tions.

FEI has approximately Rs.69 crores worth of Invoice value for which C-Form needs to be collected from customers across the country. This needs to be shown in the GST return to avoid disallowance of in-put credit. The time line provided by the government is 90 days from 1st July 2017. Though, FEI branch of-fices and HO team, in coordination, are working on it to expedite the collection, our Customers are re-quested to cooperate in terms of early submission of C-Forms.

Sharing the excerpts of the Act for everyone’s ben-efit.“ Every registered person entitled to take credit of input tax under section 140 shall, within ninety days of the appointed day, submit a declaration elec-tronically in FORM GST TRAN- 1, duly signed, on the Common Portal specifying therein, separately, the amount of input tax credit to which he is entitled under the provisions of the said section.

Provided that in the case of a claim under sub-sec-tion (1) of section 140, the application shall specify separately— (i) the value of claims under section 3, sub-section (3) of section 5, sections 6 and 6A and sub-section (8) of section 8 of the Central Sales Tax Act, 1956 made by the applicant during the financial year re-lating to the relevant return, and (ii) the serial number and value of declarations in Forms C and/or F and Certificates in Forms E and/or H or Form I specified in rule 12 of the Central Sales Tax (Registration and Turnover) Rules, 1957 submit-ted by the applicant in support of the claims referred to in sub-clause (i) above’…………….

Hence, I urge all of you to put your resources & pro-vide us the C form’s within this month.

C forms, an utter necessity: Ashes Nandi

Dear Business Partners,

With GST implementation in our country, doors are open to move towards simplicity and standardized uniform system to have effi-cient business operations in manufacturing, trading and service sector. This change has significantly removed many options of modalities of commercial transactions and brought into one GST umbrella. This will benefit us to make faster decisions about sales order execution since the deciding factor is only supply chain lo-gistics and handling.

FEI Factory have completed Line-B (3.7kw ACE) to cover all range of geared lift drive in March 2017. FY16 was year for establishing Make In India and Made for India. Now the focus is on operation-al efficiency improvement through KAIZEN (continuous improve-ment program).

practices within FE group and these are our strengths. We faced delay of component supply in April for 3.7kw ACE due to design enhancement. The new design was requirement for lift industry such as orientation change of terminal board and CAN-open feature. Continuous improvement is our religion in every aspect like quality, design, productivity. Factory is making below fea-ture enhanced products in manufacturing assembly line.

We are working to bring more products into manufacturing to expand “Make in India”program phase by phase. We urge you to provide a Sales Forecast on monthly basis to our field sales to improve upon production lead time and provide you a better service level requirement.Thanking you for your support as always.

Quality is top most priority in all Fuji Electric factories and India drive factory has fully adopted this religion. Every member of factory is responsible for Quality and commit-ted to follow discipline to dispatch quality product. Below graph shows the trend of defects rate from Jan to May 2017 for both manufacturing lines at important stage of Soldering and Final QC.

In any manufacturing process line stages, Attempt is to iden-tify defect at earlier stage. Because earlier the defect is no-ticed, lesser is the cost of rejection. Conscious attention of self-inspection by operator at every stage is the key factor apart from QC inspector’s skill to achieve Quality Objectives of factory. Weekly Quality meeting with teleconference with FMT & SUZUKA is the forum to debate, share and adopt best

Quality Management System (QMS) for Fuji Electric India Factory is ingrained in our process. Our mother factory in Japan ensured that QMS was established in FEI Factory before mass production started.

After establishing two production lines in FY2016, we decided to go for certification of ISO 9001:2015 latest revi-sion. The purpose of going for certification is to demonstrate the ability of Fuji Electric India to manufacture and service of AC drives, provide after-sales services of products related to the traded products that consistently meet customer, applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

FEI structured approach worked to develop and implement a system achieving the objectives of increasing cus-tomer satisfaction, business profitability and competitiveness, and in turn prepare for an audit by an independent third-party registrar “TUV Rheinland (India) Pvt Ltd.” for ISO registration.

As part of the implementation project, the following actions were taken:

Existing System Review & Gap Analysis Formation of QMS Core Team & QMS Coordinator. QMS Awareness Training. Develop and Document Management System for QMS.

The process approach involves the systematic definition and management of processes, and their Interactions so as to achieve the intended results in accordance with the quality policy and strategic direction of the organization. Management of the processes and the system as a whole can be achieved using the PDCA cycle.

With this certification we are proud to be an ISO 9001 certified company and I hope it should give all of us the confidence to promote FEI manufactured products and achieve business growth. This is the beginning and we strive for continuous improvement.

Compliments to the entire team for the enthusiastic support which made the herculean task look easier!

Internal Audit and Management Review Meeting.

Welcome to the 2nd month of the 2nd Quarter.

Major uncertainties of the past like the GST implementation is behind us & the market can breathe bit more freely even though all the answers to the grey areas are not known fully & I’m sure that we will receive more clarity by the end of August.

Also, in its latest credit policy, RBI reduced the repo rate by 25 bps (to 6.0% from 6.25%). The reverse repo rate now stands reduced to 5.75%, while the cash reserve ratio (CRR) remains unchanged at 4.0%. The major factors behind the rate cut were recent low headline CPI inflation, moderation in core inflation over the last three months, smooth implementation of GST and normal monsoons.

So the future looks brighter than the 1st Quarter. Being a vibrant company, FEI lost no time to avail the market opportunity. In the Automation Expo being held in Mumbai from 9th to 12th August, we launched two products in the form of SPF plc & New Micro Drive. FEI, application engineers team travelled across the country to ensure the training to all it’s eligible channel partners to ensure smooth migration process from the erstwhile WSZ to SPF. The New Micro Drive is more of a Product Line Extension. These two products are expected to add Rs 50 million in the remaining part of the year. We seek your support to make this happen!

Keeping in tune with my last CP NET’s message, our thrust in Pharma sector is visible & prominent. We are taking part in PharmaLytica @ Hyderabad on 11th & 12th August. Our HMI counterparts from Japan are actively taking part in the exhibition & the subsequent roadshows. Comfort HVAC sector is also showing a sign of significant reviv-al. From the beginning of this financial year till date we have clocked more than 1000HVAC drive orders , which is a significant land mark. Same is the case for Water Segment with recent orders from Gujrat. To help you to address the revived market FEI introduced the Channel Financing Scheme on 9th August for it’s key channel partners. So, with the Channel Financing scheme & the unique “Service App”, market friendly warranty support for drives upto 20 HP, our commitment towards you have gone deeper.

I also take pleasure in sharing the covering pages of 4 recently launched catalogue for your use. Be in touch with your Account Manager to obtain your share of the catalogues & pump us with your orders. Have a great time ahead!

Exciting Time Ahead : Mahendra Chalke

“He who studies medicine without books sails an unchar-tered sea, But he who studies medicine without patients does not go to sea at all’’.A natural elevation of the earth's surface rising more abruptly to a summit and Such was an experience while exploring the oblivious Pharma Segment with respect to machine automation & process in Plains of Himalayan by Fuji Electric Engineers to make up for untapped market ,which is dominated by prominent players using their for-midable install base to back their claim. To explore the traditional path with proactive approach, Fuji has conducted Seminar with amazing tagline “Data Integrity Solution for Pharma” in Baddi For making the presence felt in the most unique way. The event had more than 30 participants from big participants gracing their presence from giant organizations such as Cipla, Indoco, Abbot, Esteeme, Alkem and so on, witnessing our solu-tions which is their present need to implement & up-grade. Product diversification contributing to multiple solutions which has been our strength took customers on a prolonged thought journey & amazed them in knowing there can be futuristic solution provider in making whom they can value the most. Depicted Solutions were Data Integrity Solutions for Process & Machine Automations, Cloud & Solutions for Remote Maintenance, Instrumen-tation Product Basket compiled with install base records-

& applications developed, Automation Solutions with to be launched “SPF” PLC garnered positive reviews with enquiries flowing already into the kitty.

This vertical approach must provide us the much need-ed impetus to go more aggressive thus by resulting in quality outputs and making our mark.

Let’s take a trip down the memory lane of “FE compact drives”. In the earlier years of FEI, a compact inverter known as Micro entered the market to bridge the gap of the customer’s expectations & FEI’s offerings . The Micro Drive had certain shortcomings & did not meet all the desired features of major application areas. So, it gave way to New Mini which has an extended range upto 15 KW.

FE is now introducing a new range of compact drives which will be on display @ the Automation Expo in Mumbai. This new inverter called New Micro is a value for money with all the features required for targeted application areas like conveyors, material handling ma-chines, textile machines, rice sorting machines, toll bar-riers, packaging machines, etc.

This product will open many doors for FEI since many of the mentioned target Industries could not be accessed by FEI mostly because of it’s competitiveness. The drive is available in single phase from 0.4kW to 2.2kW and in three phase from 0.4kW to 3.7kW. The drive has basic features like an in built transistor with a convenience of a built in potentiometer and an in built RS485 communi-cation port. The inverter has a traverse function which is used specifically in textile industries. It also has an ambient temperature of 50 degree Celsius.

Compact power regenerative converter: Ajay Bhosale

Regenerative drives are energy-efficient technology for vertical conveyance by providing the ability to recycle energy rather than waste it as heat.

It works by capturing and converting the energy used from braking to maintain the elevators/Crane speed, when the elevator/crane slows down & ap-plies brakes the energy is created. In a conventional energy is dissipated as heat through a heat resister. Looking at the competitive market Fuji Electric de-veloped compact power regenerative converter se-ries.

1) eRHR : Compact regenerative function is achieved by utilizing the Ace platform. Requires less installa-tion space Applicable to low capacity vertical trans-port equipment or large inertia equipment drives.

2) eRHC: Compact regenerative function and har-monic suppression function are achieved by uti-lizing the Ace platform. Applicable to low capacity equipment or single-unit system.

The major difference in eRHR and eRHC is the capa-bility to filter Harmonics and power factor. eRHC is on similar principal of RHC, where Harmonic will be filtered out and power factor will be unity, where-as eRHR power factor and Harmonics are similar to the standard VFD.

Applications: Cranes where customer wants to use the regenerative energy and not worried of har-monics e RHR is very cost effective regenerative solution. In case of clean energy needed like Lift application eRHC is preferred solution over eRHR.

PMT’s (Physical measurement technologies) EVA-625 Ele-vator Vibration Analysis system is the world’s standard for the measurement of elevator/escalator ride quality, vibra-tion & sound. The system uniquely provides the ability to precisely diagnose elevator/escalator mechanical and con-trol systems, evaluate performance, & absolutely measure ride quality with respect to human response & ISO stan-dards.

We conducted vibration analysis test of ACE-GALM3X to evaluate performance and ride quality against our compet-itor product in an open loop geared lift system. We have tested it in the both direction (UP/Down) with different load (half load, full load and no load). ACE-GALM3X passed vibration analysis test successfully as follows.

Result of vibration analysis test shown superiority of ACE-GALM3X over competitor’s product, jerk level of ACE-GALM3X is lesser than competitors product. ACE-GALM3X is far ahead than competitors product in any aspect either it is ride comfort or other performance. Once again, ACE-GALM3X proves its dominance in the geared lift market, including different advance features like Deliverance operation (Light load detection search in ARD mode), SIL3 complies and CAN open. Apart from this, close loop system of ACE-GALM3X is one of the big advantage for our customer, for high-rise building and higher speed customer can use close loop features to get better perfor-mance, level accuracy and to ensure safety in geared lift.

Fuji Electric's new FRENIC-e HVAC offers optimum capa-bility in terms of energy saving for fans and pumps used in HVAC applications, eliminates waste through appropri-ate flow rate and air flow adjustments, and greatly in-fluences power conservation and cost reductions through energy saving.

Multi pumping systems are used where demand varies as well as the required flow. In a multi pump arrangement, it’s easy to save energy by running only one or perhaps two out the three pumps when demand is low. PID con-trol is on the master VFD and it will vary the speed as per the Set point and feedback.

e-HVAC drive is equipped with customized logic as stan-dard, to facilitate the free programming of up to 200 steps and all the functions for the multi pumping is done through the in-built logic of drive and if a failure occurs to the master inverter, then the next inverter is driven as the master inverter. In this system it provides accelera-tion/ deceleration time specific to the low-speed range in order to avoid prolonged operation of each motor. It provides the optimum product control solution for water supply pumps. EMC filter is inbuilt for noise reduction and to comply with EMC standards.

As awareness of the environment that surrounds us has increased in recent years, we have seen a further push to accelerate the energy-saving trends required by build-ings, factories and workplaces and we have successfully installed the system in domestic buildings for supplying water and have also the advantage of energy saving by using all the motor on VFD. We can propose the Multi pumping system for Domestic/ Industrial use mainly for Sewerage Treatment Plant, Dewatering Pumps, bore well Submersible Pumps, Overhead and Sump Tank Level Con-trol, Multiple Upper Tanks and Fire Fighting systems.

First Quarter of Year 17-18 was challenging with all re-spects in business environment due to various external business sentiments like GST implementation & inventory evaluation. Major business of west region is from product sales of OEM’s & they are the ones significantly affected by these external factors. So, to overcome this challenge, migration to Solution Business becomes necessity. And for that Process Automation will becomes Key Driver. Hence, in the month of April, FEI rolled out revitalized organization with some changes which can create focus on uncovered business areas. In line with FEI strategy, West Region rebuilt sales organization and created well experienced End User team. This team worked hard and started getting fruits by converting important & high value cases in the kitty. Value of prospects generated in Q-1 for Drive System was around – 50 MINR and Process Automation was around 25 MINR. Focused industries are Textiles, Chemicals, Water & Paper.

Many prospects were generated in partnership with some Channel partners, but yet to receive equal contributions from many other Channel Partners. By the end of July team is able to convert more than 12 MINR worth of Orders from End Users as a system. And happy to share two major suc-cess as follows…

1. Filatex India Limited...

Drive System total 32 Nos Drive panels ranging from 1.5 KW to 200 KW, which includes some Critical Process Sys-tem of Bump less Transfer.

2. Gujarat Water Infrastructure Limited (Hot redundant PLC System).

This was the prestigious order and outcome of the efforts FEI was making to get entry in to water business in Guja-rat. Case was jointly developed and converted along with Darshinal Electromation. Consultant for this case was TATA Consulting Engineers (TCE). After rigorous discussions and presentations, team was able to convince TCE and got ar-chitecture approval in spite of hiccups created by competi-tion. This case is the referral case for the many competitors and FEI got huge attention in the market. And many other similar projects are in pipeline. Similarly many other cases of DCS, Process PLC & Drive system are in pipeline and I sure we will get more successes soon. Requesting all CPs to use their contacts & knowledge to generate such cases and share with FEI team. I am confident that we will be able to convert such cases with technical expertise of the team and strong product lineup which is rare combination in the market as of today.

End User Focus Paying Dividends: Vishal V

Regions dismal performance continues. While I pen this, we are advancing into a crucial phase of the fis-cal year with all the dust settling down after GST im-plementation and hopefully all the uncertainty over business decisions will be eliminated for good. We are bound to bounce back because we believe that we are worth much more.

The region operationally has been re-aligned by do-ing away with Vizag Resident Engineer operations and Phani after his long illness has commenced his duties in Hyderabad. Pragadeesh, a new joinee in our In-strumentation SBU has joined us in Chennai to bolster our sagging Sales in Field Instruments. Vijay Deepak with 15 years industry experience is our new Appli-cation Engineer. The OEM team in Chennai has been strengthened with the joining of Mr. Jayan. Inclusions and changes in our Team will definitely help our Chan-nel Partner deliver better results. The team has under-gone the product training in Chennai & is confident to win many battles with the newly launched SPF. We are also adding few more Channels to enhance our market reach.

Our lead Channel Partner DICS @ Bangalore gave us reasons to be proud of when they inaugurated their new 4 storied office @ Peniya on 2nd August. We are proud to say that the office was inaugurated by our CEO, Mr Shoumitra Chatterjee.

The alliance partner agreement with FLS for joint pro-motion of analysers in the Cement vertical is paying off well with regular orders. Our Hyderabad office will be vibrant with activities during the second week of August, with Seminars on Lift & Cranes in the morn-ing session of 7th August & a technical symposium on “Data Integrating Solution & Pharma Compliances” in the evening. Three Process Automation experts from FE Japan will grace the occasion followed by some key customer visits.

FEI is also taking part in PharmaLytica exhibition on 11th & 12th August. This event is sponsored by our HMI SBU.

I’m sure that with all these support, Hyderabad End User team will script many success stories.

2nd Qtr July-Aug-17HART – A real ‘Oldie Yet Goldie’: Sanjeev Chakraborty

Generally the frequency is slow and less than 10Hz.HART works by sending out a burst of signal that is typically 1ma onto the 4-20ma communications line. This burst signal is at a frequency about 100 times greater than the analog signal so we can filter it and ideally they won’t interfere with each other. HART uses Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) based on the Bell 202 Communications standard to ‘talk’ on the communications line. This basically means that it shoots a 1200Hz signal on the line to send a ‘Level-1’ and a 2200Hz signal to send a ‘Level-0’. Again, note that those frequencies are high enough above the analog signal frequency of 10Hz so that they don’t interfere with each other.

The two signals don’t interfere because we use high and low pass filters in both devices to filter out what is needed... or not needed. The HART signal is generally isolated from the analog signal with a high pass filter having a cut off frequen-cy of about 600Hz. The analog is isolated with a simple low pass filter. That filtering is absolutely essential to ensure that HART and a 4- 20ma current loop signal can co-exist on the same line.

The HART Communication Protocol (Highway Ad-dressable Remote Transducer) is a hybrid analog + digital industrial protocol. Its most notable advan-tage is that it can communicate over legacy 4-20 mA analog instrumentation current loops, sharing the pair of wires used by the analog only host systems.

HART works by using a main-sub configuration where-by 1 (or 2) device become the main (generally the PLC) and the transducer (sensor) become the sub device.

Most times it's a one-to-one type of communication that takes place so that we can preserve the analog signal line (ie. 4-20ma current loop). However, it's possible to connect up to 15 sub-devices to a single main device. Then the sub-devices communicate by broadcasting their information. Note, however, that when we use more than a simple one-to-one device communication method we lose the ability to use the analog part of the signal and being able to use the two signals together is the main benefit of HART.

A 4-20ma sensing device works by varying the amount of current flowing through the device. The PLC analog input card detects the current variation by measuring the voltage across a resistor. This 'loop current' will vary between 4 and 20mA. (So a 100psi pressure transmitter would be 4mA at 0psi, 12mA at 50psi and 20mA at 100psi).

Fuji India is pleased to announce the introduction of multi-function AC power monitor for measurement (Class 1 accuracy)and recording of AC power parameters.

The product was launched in Automation Expo at BEC, Goregaon Mumbai, and it was a remarkable response from industry experts who made hands on and understood its functionality thoroughly.

The meter is supplied pre-programmed for operation & can be directly installed. It’s a proven product in field with measurement methods as 1-phase 2-wire, 1-phase 3-wire and 3-phase 3-wire. The AC power monitor cal-culates and indicates active power, reactive power, in-tegrated power, integrated reactive power, frequency and power factor through measurement of single or three-phase AC voltage and current, and stores the measured data. Voltage is input directly or via a step-down transformer, and current is measured with a gen-eral-purpose current sensor (CT) of secondary-side cur-rent of 5A or 1A. Features and benefits are as under:

• Compact and light-weight (Std. DIN 48 × 96 × 100): Power mon-itor can be readily installed in individual facilities, equipment, and distribution board with limited (half size) installation space. • Easy data acquisition and recording: For saving and record-ing measured data, a SD memory card is usable. Data over a long time can be saved. The saved data can be loaded and ed-ited with the card inserted in the card slot of a personal com-puter through MS Excel. Thus data acquisition by SD memory card does not involve connection of communication cables.

• Collective monitoring over the network: Centralized moni-toring on SCADA or wide range of our HMI and control of distrib-uted measurement points can be implemented via a RS-485 Communication interface. This provides another alternative to process the data other than local memory through SD card.

Many of you know me , but I take pleasure in introduc-ing myself in the print media as “The Person in Charge” in FEI to bridge the Cultural & Communication gap ( if any) between FEI & FEJ along with introducing new Business Initiatives for Fuji Electric in India. I’m also re-sponsible for Electrical Distribution & Control product platform along with Condition Monitoring Equipment, & Service Sales.

I will appear on a Japanese TV program called "Gut-to! Chikyubin" (Worldwide Postal Service) produced by Yomiuri Television Japan. It's a 30 minutes documen-tary program to introduce my life as an Indian Classi-cal Kathak dancer and a working woman in Mumbai, India. It was on air at 10:25am on Sunday, 6th August 2017 in Japan. TV crew visited Mumbai including our office @ Andheri to shoot. I had four days engagement starting from 10am to 10pm. The schedule was long & tedious in the month of June , which is not kind. The program which made me awfully busy was fun and an amazing experience. It provided me the feeling of “ Self Achievement & provided me a sense of Recognition” I owe it to both the Countries, which I adore!.

The program consisted of:

- Kathak dance riyaz with Guruji & Musicians- Indian-Belly fusion dance performance collaborated with Hip-Hop Rapper- Office work and lunch with colleagues at FEI HO- Bollywood dance class with Slum children in Wadala- My daily life in Mumbai (sabziwala, general store, milk centre, rickshaw, etc.)- Interview about my life, family and experiences with my late old parents at home in Japan before I came to India, and my love for India which I adopted like a “Duck to Water”.

The important concept of this documentary is “Kazoku no kizuna (family ties)”.

My elder sister in Japan handed over a special gift and a letter for me to TV crew. Could you imagine how I re-sponded when I got surprise gift? … It was a keepsake of our late mother!!

JK Drives & Controls India Pvt Ltd was estab-lished in the year 2015, which was previously known as JK Systems & Controls supporting cus-tomers since 2009. Our business has two areas of focus, one is Elevator & Escalator business and other is Industrial Automation for Machine OEM’s. We have Splendid team of Technical En-gineers who focuses for both the business. We have done so many unique applications and out of which the below is one of our application which we would like to share: -

Application: Servo Pressing Machine (3 Tonnes pres-sure).

Products Used: PLC – 24 I/O, TS1070, Alpha 5 Smart Servo -1.5 Kw Servo, 3000 Rpm – 1 NoServo motor controls the motion of one cylindrical bar attached with ball screw. At the end of the cy-lindrical a Load cell is attached to measure the load applied on the job. This cylinder travels vertically for a distance of 200mm in 3 steps such as Rapid, Feed, Creep. While in rapid the cylinder moves at a speed of 90 to 100mm/sec and in feed it will move at a rate of 10 to 20mm/second. Finally the cylinder runs in creep speed and presses the job at a speed of 1 to 5mm/second. During creep the job will be pressed with high pressure and will maintain the set pres-sure for a Dwell time. The travel distance, tonnage and the speed of the cylinder is calculated by the End Customer depending on their product. This ser-vo motion is controlled in closed loop one with an external linear encoder feedback to maintain job de-viation within 5 micron accuracy and with the Load cell feedback to maintain the applied pressure on the Product. The overall process is monitored using HMI and also the graph is plotted for applied Load vs. Displacement to maintain repeatability and low-er cycle time for increased production. The major application of this machine is press fitting, pressing, punching, spring testing, straightening, bending, riv-eting, stamping and clamping.
