Part II – (15 minutes) Answer Question Game
The teacher writes several answers on the board like “hiking” “Pizza” “5”.
The students form teams and try guessing the question that corresponds to
each answer. The student asks the question and the teacher answers it
honestly. They get a point if they are right. The point of this activity is to
practice asking questions and to get to know their teacher some more.
Student: “What’s your favorite food?”
Teacher: “Pizza” (correct answer)
- Correct Answers Are:
Pizza: What is your favorite food? Suji: What is your wife’s name?
Hiking: What do you like to do? /
What is your hobby?
Movie Director: What is your dream? /
What do you want to be?
5: How many family members do
you have?
Kimchi: What is your least favorite
food? / What food do you not like?
Fine: How are you? Oberlin: Where did you go to
university?
- If They Guess Wrong: Keep Asking!
If they are wrong, the teacher simply answers the question honestly. For example, if
the student is trying to elicit the number, “5” and asks, “How old is your son?” The
teacher simply answers, “My son is one.” The students keep trying to ask questions
to get the teacher to answer with one of the answers on the board.
- Useful Phrases
Students learn the key phrases now because they are the most useful at this time:
1. What ______ do you like? (What food/Korean food/singer/ movies) do you like?
2. How many ______ do you have*?
*Students are also told they can change the verb to any other verb they want.
Part III – (20 minutes) Your turn
The point of this activity is for the students to practice asking and answering basic
questions and for the teacher and the students to get to know each other more. The
teacher gives each student a piece of paper with three shapes on it.
The students must do what the teacher did on the board and write three answers
inside the shapes.
Then students take turns standing up and saying their answers. Another student from
another team has to ask the question to elicit that answer. If the student asks the
wrong question, the original student must answer the question anyway. Points
are awarded and the game continues.
