The 2020 Club Champs will be held on the 29th of February & 7th of March 2020. Entries will close on Friday 21 February 2020 and the draw will take place on Monday 24 February 2020. Once completed the relevant draw results and tee off times will be communicated to those competing. We wish all the entrants the best of luck and most importantly, have fun.

Rules:

Enter your name on the applicable division list on the notice board before close of business on Friday 21 February 2020.

Draw will take place on Monday 24 February 2020 based on the handicap indexes as listed on the handicap website at end of day 23rd February 2020 (please ensure that all rounds have been closed by the 23rd) – please note that the change in handicap between the date of entering and the date of the draw could result in you playing in a different division to that which you entered for.

Participants are to use the handicap Index as used for draw (end of day 23 Feb) for the duration of the club Champs.

Motorized carts can be used in all divisions (book at pro-shop)

Total Cost payable by 26 February 2020.

There will be a redraw for Division A, B & C after the first round based on gross scores.

Tee off times will be sent to all participants via electronic communique after both draws.

The playing fee includes a dinner which will be served at the prize giving event on 07 March 2020

Limited playing space is available so get your entry in ASAP. A cut (based on handicaps within the respective divisions) will be done should the day be oversubscribed.

You are reminded of the Ladies Cabernet Classic that will be played in the afternoon field on Saturday 22 February 2020 (poster below). We already have 96 players entered in the field to date so it promises to be a great day. Those (men and ladies) who are not playing in Classic are reminded that there will be limited space in the afternoon field so make your bookings for the normal club competition ASAP to avoid disappointment.

Our first league game for the year was played on Tuesday 28 January at Somerset West. We are proud to announce that we started the year with a (2-1) win against Altantic Beach. Well done to the team pictured below:

The pedestals, at the tee boxes, displaying the layout of the individual holes are old / weather beaten and outdated (distances etc. have changed). For this reason, it has become necessary to replace these with new updated display boards. The new 3D type boards will be mounted in a plastic composite frame and will have space available for sponsorship opportunities.

Hole sponsorship is available at R5,000 excl VAT per year. This will include the sponsors branding below the display board (similar to picture below of boards at some of the other clubs in the area). The manufacturing process will only commence once all 18 sponsorship opportunities have been taken up, and the sponsorship year will only start on installation.

Members are reminded that there are free golf lessons for juniors on a Tuesday between 14:30 and 15:30.

Course MaintenancePlease be advised that the club is in the process of obtaining quotes for the replacement of the slats on the walkover bridge on hole no.7, and we hope to have it fixed in the very near future. We ask that members please be very careful when making use of the bridge.

Some of the recent enhancements to the handicap system has seen some new reports being introduced. This has enabled the club to pick up when a round is played / entered and no payment has been made for the round. It is unfortunate that a few incidents have already been picked up and we advise all members that not paying for a round is a serious transgression and will lead to disciplinary action.
