28TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME OCTOBER 14, 2018 PG. 3

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I hope you had a relaxing time on Columbus Day. It was a quiet day here at the rectory.

I am encouraged by the presence of so many people from different parishes on the

island who gathered in front of the statue of Our Lady at the entrance to the rectory to pray the

Holy Rosary. The members of the Coast to Coast Rosary committee shared the introductions,

prayers and the hymns. The highlight of the day were volunteers who stepped up to the

microphone to say one decade of the Rosary in their national languages: English, Italian,

Polish, Spanish and Filipino which made it really global/universal. I wish to thank the parish

committee who steered it and worked so hard in advertising this event to make it a great

success!

I must say our Youth Group members were helpful in setting up and cleaning up, very

active in distributing the plastic triple color Rosaries, programs and helping the elderly walk

back to the School Gymnasium through the short cut by way of the rectory back yard. They

also helped clean up after the refreshments. A big thank you to OLHC PTAF!

Last Sunday’s Liturgy of the Word was all about marriage and family. I do not know if

you get a chance to go over the Sunday readings before you come to Mass, but to me,

it appeared that more families with little children were present at all the Masses. I would like

to think that you were inspired and took a message home for the rest of your life.

It was brought to my attention that Father Bill Halbing, who used to conduct Bible

lessons here at OLHC, is willing to start a group again. I am all for it. If there are any group

of parishioners or individuals who like to be in it, please contact Rosa Carstens or call the

rectory. Once you let me know of your steadfastness of continuing it, if you wish, I will write

officially to Father and invite him. Please get a steady group first.

In the near future, we plan to do some work in the parking lots. I will let you know the

exact time and dates. When the work has begun, I kindly request not to park in the lots until

you see the signs allowing you to do so. Your cooperation in much appreciated.

The financial statement for the Church from August 2017-August 2018 is available to

view. The copies of the statement can be found in the Church lobbies.

Have a blessed week and May God bless you.

Fr. Frank

RENEWAL …

“EVERY DAY MAY NOT BE GOOD,

BUT THERE IS SOMETHING GOOD

IN EVERY DAY.”

Prayer for the Beginning of Autumn

O God of Creation, you have blessed us with the changing of the seasons.

As we welcome the autumn months, may the earlier setting of the sun

remind us to take time to rest.

May the brilliant colors of the leaves remind us of the wonder of your creation.

May the steam of our breath in the cool air

remind us that it is You who give us the breath of life.

May the harvest from the fields remind us of the abundance we have been given and

bounty we are to share with others.

May the dying of summer’s spirit remind us of Your great promise that death is temporary

and life is eternal.

We praise You for Your goodness forever and ever. Amen.
