Reflecon for Naonal Sorry Day and Indigenous Week We, the community of Catholic Regional College, recognise the wisdom and experience of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We believe that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have the right to live according to their own customs, values and spirituality. We express our sorrow and deep regret for the injusces inflicted upon the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of Australia. We acknowledge the loss by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of their land and their children, their health and their lives. We accept that we have oſten failed to live up to the central message of the Gospel: to love God and love one another. We confess that these failures have hurt our fellow cizens. We resolve not to ignore the past but determine to grow from our failures, confident that we can work together to reconcile the people of Australia. We affirm that we can learn from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and spirituality, which will enrich our naon. 28th May, 2013 Reflecon The Year 12 Student Leaders, VCAL and Business Management classes are to be congratulated for their efforts and me devoted to organising the day. We have managed to raise approximately $6000 that will be shared with between Bro Beausang College, Nairobi Kenya, the Royal Childrens Hospital and St Vinnies. The behaviour of the students on the day was excellent, the owners and workers of the rides commented to me at the end of the day how well mannered and behaved our students were. I could see the enjoyment and fun on the faces of many students as I walked around the school. Contacng Teachers Parents are welcome to contact teachers either via email or phone to discuss any maers concerning their child. There is an expectaon by the College Leadership Team that staff reply back and there is an understanding this may not be immediate or on the same day. It is not always possible for teachers to immediately respond back to parent queries or requests because of class commitments, aendance at meengs or absence from school. Robert Blackley Deputy Principal Parents & Friends Meeng There will be a Parents & Friends meeng tomorrow night, Wednesday, 29th May at 7.30pm. I look forward to meeng as many parents as possible. Mark Sheehan Principal Celebraon Day Last Thursday marked our annual Celebraon Day. The day began with Mass in our local parishes. It was most encouraging to hear of the number of students who aend the Masses across the parishes. Upon return to the College the students had the opportunity to take part in a range of acvies. The Year 12 Student Leaders had been meeng regularly, planning and organising the day. Year 11 Business Management and VCAL classes were also involved on the day running food stalls and promong causes. This year we increased the number of acvies, introduced the purchase of a wristband as a means to raise funds and provided more food opons for the students. The Cha Cha ride, jumping castles and dunking machine proved very popular. A DJ and our very own CRC Has Got Talent provided entertainment in the hall. The winner of the Talent Quest will be named and presented their trophy at our next school assembly.

Reflection

The Year 12 Student Leaders, VCAL and Business Management classes are to be congratulated for their efforts and time devoted to organising the day. We have managed to raise approximately $6000 that will be shared with between Bro Beausang College, Nairobi Kenya, the Royal Children’s Hospital and St Vinnies. The behaviour of the students on the day was excellent, the owners and workers of the rides commented to me at the end of the day how well mannered and behaved our students were. I could see the enjoyment and fun on the faces of many students as I walked around the school. Contacting Teachers Parents are welcome to contact teachers either via email or phone to discuss any matters concerning their child. There is an expectation by the College Leadership Team that staff reply back and there is an understanding this may not be immediate or on the same day. It is not always possible for teachers to immediately respond back to parent queries or requests because of class commitments, attendance at meetings or absence from school. Parents & Friends Meeting There will be a Parents & Friends meeting tomorrow night, Wednesday, 29th May at 7.30pm. I look forward to meeting as many parents as possible. Mark Sheehan Principal Celebration Day Last Thursday marked our annual Celebration Day. The day began with Mass in our local parishes. It was most encouraging to hear of the number of students who attend the Masses across the parishes. Upon return to the College the students had the opportunity to take part in a range of activities. The Year 12 Student Leaders had been meeting regularly, planning and organising the day. Year 11 Business Management and VCAL classes were also involved on the day running food stalls and promoting causes. This year we increased the number of activities, introduced the purchase of a wristband as a means to raise funds and provided more food options for the students. The Cha Cha ride, jumping castles and dunking machine proved very popular. A DJ and our very own CRC Has Got Talent provided entertainment in the hall. The winner of the Talent Quest will be named and presented their trophy at our next school assembly.
