FROM THE DESK OF OUR PRINCIPAL Hello/Giinagay, This week is SASS (School Administrative and Support Staff) Recognition Week. It is a week when we recognise the hard work, dedication and ongoing commitment of our Aboriginal Education Officer (AEO) Aunty Glenda, our Administrative staff in the office and library, our School Learning and Support Officers and our General Assistant (GA), the often unsung heroes in our public schools. Our SAS staff play an important role in the school community. They are often the first people you see when you enter a school and are essential to maintaining positive relationships with students, parents and the community. SAS staff work in school offices, in classrooms, libraries and maintaining and caring for school grounds and buildings. They are often the ones to tend to students when they unwell and they ensure the efficient management of school financial and administrative functions. These staff members have a great and positive impact on the running of our school, assisting all students and families in many different capacities. The work they do is invaluable in our schools. Please take a moment to thank them for the wonderful work they do every day. It was fantastic to see so many families attend our Book Week parade and what a wonderful array of costumes from staff, students and families. Thank you Mrs Morgan for organising and co-ordinating this event. Today our 2020 Kindergarten children participated in a Story Time session with Mrs Morgan, our librarian. On Friday our hardworking P&C will be running the Fathers Day Stall. We wish all our dads out there a fantastic Father’s Day this coming Sunday. We are having an increasing number of students arriving early to school which is creating difficulty with supervision and works around the school. Unless a child’s school bus arrives prior to 8:40am children should not be on site until then. If your child walks or rides to school please ensure they are leaving home at an appropriate time so they are not arriving early. Drop-offs should not be before 8:40am. TELL THEM FROM ME SURVEY

This term our school will be participating in the Partners in Learning parent survey, another part of the Tell Them From Me suite of surveys (student, teacher and parent surveys) on

student engagement. The survey asks parents and carers questions about different factors that are known to impact on student wellbeing and engagement.

Running this survey will help our school understand parent/carer perspectives on their child’s experience at school. These include: communication between parents/carers and staff, activities and practices at home and parent/carer views on the school’s support of learning and behaviour. This valuable feedback will help our school make practical improvements. Below is the link for ‘Frequently Asked Questions’.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT

JULIE MORGAN

Hi, my name is Julie Morgan and I’m fortunate to be the Teacher/Librarian of Tyalla’s lovely library.

Reading is my not so secret power. I love reading for the joy of it, for transporting me into new worlds, new lives and new and exciting adventures.

My family; Nick, James, Lucas and Anika and their partners are mostly avid readers, regularly sharing books we love and those that challenge us.

I love being outside at the beach and in the bush. The ocean is ever-changing and full of life, which both soothes and inspires.

I feel lucky every day that I can share my passion with the Tyalla community. Going to work and doing something I love.

Winning!
