To help effectively manage water pressure in some of the buildings, Reliance worked with the m&e consultants to install its Pressure Reducing valves (PRvs). C3 SHOWER MIXER TWO-STEP SHOWER INSTALLATION.The Reliance two-step shower installation is another example of how we’re at the forefront of washroom innovation.

During the construction phase, concealed showers – supplied with a plastic cover over the shower outlet – are installed before the walls are plastered to ensure a flush fitting. This is the ‘first fix’. The ‘second fix’ simply involves removing this plastic cover and replacing it with a chrome faceplate during the final fit-out. This unique installation prevents scratching or damage to the faceplates during building work. There are also no lost parts - the faceplates are packed separately and can be retained in stores until they are needed.

We believe that a safely and effectively managed water system is one of a hospital’s most critical tools. if the component parts of a water system, from valves to taps and showers, have been thoughtfully designed to suit the complexities and maintenance demands of the hospital environment, they will be effective in minimising a patient’s risk of infection from LegionellaandPseudomonas.Theywillalsoprovideprotectionforchildren,elderly,infirm or vulnerable people against scalding or burns.

These specific needs led Reliance to create its most innovative range ofhealthcaresolutionsfromspecialistAnti-LegionellaValvestoourCaremix Prime taps specially designed and Pvd coated to prevent bacteria breeding.

Over many years we’ve developed a deep understanding of how water is used in hospitals. As such, Reliance introduced a specialist Anti-Legionella Valve which can be installed on expansion vessels on the smaller water heaters often used around hospital buildings. This reduces the stagnation of water in the system and protects against the risk of Legionella. We also recommend incorporating our specialist Harron Valve to keep a system balanced and outlets at a safe outlet pressure, ensuring L8 compliance with deadlegs kept to a minimum. In addition, Reliance provides the toughest TMV technology to guard against scalding and contamination risks and our Heatguard TMV3-8 is D08 compliant and TMV3 approved.

HARRON VALVEThe Reliance Harron Valve is a combination valve featuring a cartridge type pressure reducing valve and thermal balancing valve. The Harron valve reduces design complexity and avoids installation errors. Used on circulating hot water systems, the valve reduces water pressure and balances the system by regulating flow within it depending on the temperature. reSidenTialThe construction of new homes hasn’t been keeping pace with demand, and the government estimates that between225,000and275,000newhomes are now needed every year for the foreseeable future.

With space at a premium in the UK, building high-rise and multi-occupancy developments are a favourable solution and popular trend as we try to solve the housing crisis. however, while we need to create homes as quickly as possible, it’s critical that they are built to last. Quality, affordability, energy efficiency and sustainability are therefore key factors in the planning, design, build, performance and maintenance of all new homes. We apply these same considerations to our products, designing innovative controls that will safely, efficiently and effectively manage the fundamental household resources of water and heat.

For example, we understand the complexities of water systems in tall multi-occupancy buildings and manage them efficiently with robust Pressure Reducing valves (PRv). Our Tenant valve is bornefrom the need to save space, maintenance time and reduce the risk of leaks, and so provides multiplevalvesinonemulti-purposeunitforsimplicityandease.Likewise,theRelianceRapid heat interface Unit (hiU) supports the adoption of a community heat network, a greener heat source for new build developments.
