Q21: Where is the water table? A21: Assume Elevation 75.00 m Q22: Do you have soil investigation report? A22: There is no project specific geotechnical report as the Maintenance building is positioned over

back fill material adjacent to the existing sedimentation tanks. Rock elevation is noted on the attached reference drawing (D-2649).

Q23: Drawing A3 – What type of restoration required for existing exterior brick & stone band? A23: Design intent is to clean the brick and stone from dirt and stains and to repoint joints where

required. The General Contractor is to retain a brick restoration specialist to recommend a proper cleaning method. A small mock-up of an area of cleaned brick is to be prepared for Architect approval before proceeding with cleaning.

Q24: Can you please identify the lighting fixture type L6, shown on drawing E-5? It is not identified

Q28: Drawing A9, Note 1 – what is mean by 25mm cord. Please provide clear copy of Data Matrix. A28: ‘25 mm cord’ to read ‘25 mm gap between liner and plywood’ Clear copy of Data Matrix

attached. Q29: Drawing G5, Section A-A shows typical section of foundation. This is different from the detail

shown in structural drawing S1. Please clarify? A29: Drawing G5 is the environmental drawing as approved by the TRCA and provides the

environmental protection to be undertaken by the contractor. Disregard the foundation section as it was a preliminary design.

Q30: Pre-engineering building – What is the R value of roof & wall. What is the gauge of roof liner &

wall liner? What is the Collateral load? A30: For R- Values, see response to Item No. 18. Wall and roof liner to be 24 gauge.

Collateral load: 0.25 kPa Q31: Is there a geotechnical investigation? A31: Refer to Question No. 22 above. Q32: The total number of both pre-production tests and proof tests as per section 02164 is unclear.

Please clarify the type and quantity of each load test required. A32: Tests, per se, are not necessary but the installer of the helical piles will have to provide a report

(detailing the capacity and the method used to determine the capacity of the installed piles) sealed by a Professional Engineer.

Q33: On dwg S1 there is a note stating that the helical piers are to be installed down to rock. It also

says refer to existing reference drawings for approximate rock elevation. I cannot find anywhere that shows the approximate rock elevation. Do you know where I may find this?

A33: Refer to the reference drawing cross section – D-2649. Q34: On the structural drawing S1, Existing Control Building Floor Plan, and Section B, there is a new

concrete slab to be installed with Hilti bolts to the existing concrete slab. There are also steel support beams shown on architectural drawings A2, Section 3/A2 with reference structural

drawings for details. We would like to know beam support details with beam sizes, sketched/drawings, metal deck type, size, thickness (if applicable for composite slab type) and connection details beam to concrete slab/wall. Please provide.

A34: Delete steel beams as shown on drawing A2, Section 3/A2. The structural design is complete as

shown on Drawing S1. Q35: Specification Section 14630 – Overhead Travelling Cranes

a. Clause 7.2.2 – States to support underhung crane runway but on page 12 of 14 of Division 14 it states a single girder top running crane is required. Impact: Significant difference in the design of the runway and crane components used. Please clarify design.

A35a: Answer: The crane is a single girder top running crane as indicated on crane data sheets pages

12/14 and 13/14.

Delete Section 7.2.2 and replace with revised Section 7.2.2 as follows: ‘Support crane runway rails by a suspension system consisting of fittings, clamps, braces and all connection hardware which will permit runway rails to adjust to normal fluctuations of weight occurring as crane travels along rails. Design suspension system for connecting the runways to the building structure. Furnish slotted holes and shims for lateral and vertical rail adjustment. Brace rails laterally to prevent excess motion of runway. Brace rails longitudinally.’ b. Clause 8.4 – Catwalk is specified to be used for crane maintenance and re-lamping Impact – A catwalk cannot be constructed on a single girder crane. Design would have to be changed to a double girder configuration. Please clarify design.

A35b. It is acknowledged that some manufacturers cannot construct a catwalk on a single girder crane.

Manufacturers as listed within the specifications are capable of constructing a catwalk on a single girder crane.

c. Clause 8.10 – Run-out crane beam is specified at a run out distance of 2.75m Impact - Please clarify either a top running or under running setup. This type of customization is suited for a Under Running Crane.

A35c. Delete Section 8.10.

d. Clause 10.1.4 – Electrical and mechanical load brake requested Question – Is secondary electrical brake acceptable in lieu of mechanical load brake? Impact - The mechanical load brake uses old technology and limits your options with regards to choices for hoisting machinery. Today, there are not many manufacturers that use mechanical load braking around the world and the manufacturers specified in section 6.0 do not sell this equipment as standard. The regenerative controlled braking means of a squirrel cage motor is an acceptable means of controlled braking as per CMAA.

A35d. Electrical or mechanical load brakes may be incorporated. Q36: Who will remove the existing wood deck (which is used for closing the floor opening) & concrete

curb around the floor opening at low pressure blower building? These items are not shown in the drawings.

A36: All removals are by the General Contractor.

Q37: Do we need to get any permit (including building permit) for the works in control building and other works (other than for maintenance building)?

A37: Building permit for the control building is in place. Any other permits if required are by GC. Q38: In regards to the Humbler Treatment Plant, please verify the importance category to use. In

section 13127.7(2) it is specified to use a Group F3 – Low Risk Industrial Occupancy (part 3 of NBCC). This is absolutely not the same as the importance category which falls under Part 4 of the NBCC. Typically the NBCC specifies public water treatment/storage facilities and pump stations as Post Disaster.

A38: See response to question 1.

Q39: We need more details on the cladding that is to be used (gauge, type, color). Please confirm these.

A39: Walls: 24 gauge ShadowRib wall panels with hidden fasteners Roof: 24 gauge Double-Lok panels 24” wide with hidden fasteners Colour: Custom Colour

Q40: Please also specify thickness of Pre-engineering building wall and roof insulation. A40: Refer to Question No. 18 Q41: 2. 13.11.3 calls for Mineral Fibre Batt Insulation. Is Fiberglass blanket insulation acceptable, or

are we to use Roxul Plus MBI? A41: Mineral Fibre is required. Q42: Are there any fire-rated walls? If so, please specify. A42: See response to Question No. 5. Q43: Provide paint finish schedule for structural steel members of the pre-engineered maintenance

building. This information is not given in section 13127 & 09900. A43: Metal Trim and Structural Steel:

Q44: Maintenance building Roll up doors. A44: Specification Section 08330 attached to this Addendum Q45: Maintenance Building –S1 A45: Add 300 mm high concrete curb with 50 mm exterior insulation and finish (EIFS) to full height

of grade beam under all exterior walls. The concrete curb thickness, including the insulation, to match the pre-engineered building walls. Insulation at doorways to be capped with 6 mm stainless steel bent plate full width - typical of all doors.
