    Data sufficiency question:

What is value of Y X

    1. x^2 = Y^2

    2. X+Y = 2

    Answer:

From the first and second, we come to

    know that X = Y = 1.

    Thus Y X = 0

Answer can be drawn from both the

    statements together only.

    Data sufficiency question:

Parallel sides of isosceles trapezium are

    20 & 40 cm . what is its area:

    1. its diagonals are 31 cm each

    2. the lower base angles are acute

    angles.

  • 8/14/2019 27 June Reasoning & DI II

    9/44

    www.afterschoool.tk

    Answer:

Area of trapezium is as under:

Height * (sum of parallel sides)

    From 1st

statement alone we can find thearea the 2nd statement is not required.

Verify : applying pythogorus rules, area is

    7.8 * (20 + 40) = approx. 234 sq. cm.

    Data sufficiency question:

    What is value of a^3 + b^3?

    1. a^2 +b^2 = 19

    2. ab= 3

  • 8/14/2019 27 June Reasoning & DI II

    11/44

    www.afterschoool.tk

    Answer:

    (a+b)^2 = a^2 +b^2 + 2ab.

    Thus 19 +2*3 = 25

    A + b = + / - 5 Thus answer cannot be drawn even with

    both the statements.

    Data sufficiency question:

Is the value of P greater than 6 given Q is

    a positive iinteger?

    1. 1/q <

    2. p/q > 4

  • 8/14/2019 27 June Reasoning & DI II

    13/44

    www.afterschoool.tk

    Answers:

From the 1st statement it is clear that value

of q is more than 2.

From second statement it is clear that

value of p is more than 8. thus answer can

be drawn from both the statements

    together.

    Data sufficiency question

What is the perimeter of the rectangle.

    I. Its area is 20

    II. Its length is 5

  • 8/14/2019 27 June Reasoning & DI II

    15/44

    www.afterschoool.tk

    Answer :

    Perimeter = 2 ( length + bredth).

From the statements, length = 5 bredth =

    4

    Thus perimeter = 18.

For getting answer, both the statements

    are required.

    Data sufficiency question:

. What is the shortest distance from x to z.

    I. The shortest distance from x to y is 5

II. The shortest distance from y to z is 3.

    Answer

Answer cannot be determined even with

both the statements together as we are

not sure that Y is on the way from X to Z

    or not.

    Answer

Can answer be drawn from either

statements no. Because from the first

    statement, we get 2 answers : 3 & -3.

Thus answer can be drawn from

    statement 2 alone.

    Answer :

Answer can be drawn from 2nd statement

    alone.

1st statement is repeatition of the facts

already given in the statement. Thus 1st

    statement is not required

    Verify : from 2nd statement: 4b+b = 25, B =

    5.
