Anchored to one of its core values – Service to Fellowmen and its mission of promoting professional growth, UB established the Community Relations, Alumni & Placement Office (CAPO). Its primary goal is to assist its students and graduates in achieving their career aspirations by providing guidance, resources and opportunities as they enter the world of work while establishing mutually beneficial linkages with employers and the community. 1.0 INTRODUCTION Realizing that the office and the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) have common objectives, CAPO signed a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) last September 24, 2013 and officially became a University-Based PESO. OFFICE

1.0 INTRODUCTION

The relationship between the University of

Batangas (UB) and its students does not end at

• Encourage employers to submit to the PESO on aregular basis a list of job vacancies in their respectiveestablishments in order to facilitate the exchange oflabor market information.

• Provide persons with entrepreneurship qualities, accessto the various livelihood and self-employment programs

• Undertake employability enhancement trainings orseminars for job seekers, as well as those who wouldlike to change career or enhance their employability;

• Provide employment or occupational counseling, careerguidance, mass motivation and values developmentactivities;

• Conduct pre-employment counseling and orientation toprospective local and, most especially, overseasworkers;

• Prepare and submit to the local Sanggunian an annualemployment plan and budget including other regularfunding sources and budgetary support of the PESO;and

• Develop and administer testing and evaluationinstruments for effective job selection, training andcounseling;

• Provide reintegration assistance services to returningFilipino migrant workers.

Based on the findings of the study, the researchersarrived at the following conclusions:

1. UB CAPO placement programs are anchored tothe Republic Act 8759 (amended by Republic Act

10691) also known as PESO Act of 1999.

2. The office has been performing very well as a

labor market information hub and provider ofemployment services.

DIRECTIONS FOR FUTURE USE

3. The placement programs are effective inreference to the criteria set forth in the Search for

Best PESO manual and the evaluation of theDOLE regional awards committee.

4. The current placement services may beimproved to maintain 100% rating.

From the above-mentioned findings and conclusions,the researchers hereby recommend the following:

1. The office needs to aggressively obtain feedbackfrom companies regarding hired graduates to

improve job placement rate.

2. The office may propose a program in providing re-

integration assistance services to returning alumniOverseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) as this is one ofthe functions of PESO.

3. The office may initiate and organize livelihoodand self-employment programs and services and

strengthen the anti-illegal recruitment and humantrafficking campaign.
